Heavy metals get their way into the environment through a wide spectrum of natural and anthropogenic sources. Arsenic (As) has been reported to be present in main too different oxidation states (As3+ and As5+). Trivalent arsenic (As3+) has been reported to be more toxic than the pentavalent (As5+) one. Mystus (M.) vittatus, a siluroid fish, were exposed to Sublethal concentration (SLC) of As3+ to observe alteration in the glycogen and lipid content during three different phases of the ovarian cycle preparatory, spawning and post-spawning. The increasing order in the glycogen and lipid content was observed during the preparatory and spawning phase. Still, decrease in these biochemical parameters was during post-spawning phase of ovarian cycle in Mystus (M.) vittatus, a freshwater siluroid. Less significant alteration in glycogen and lipid was noticed after 15 days of exposure, but a highly significant decrease was observed after 30 days in SLC of trivalent arsenic as AsCl3. The causes for decline in these biochemical parameters have been discussed during the phases of ovarian...

An isocratic reversed-phase HPLC method was developed and validated to estimate and separate spironolactone and its related substances in its tablet dosage forms. Estimation and separation were achieved on Symmetry C-8 analytical column (150X3.9) mm, 5µm, using Water, Tetrahydrofuran (THF), and Acetonitrile (ACN) in the ratio of 77:21:2 v/v as mobile phase at the flow rate of 20 µl. UV photodiode array (UV PDA) detector detects the peaks at the wavelength of 254 and 283 nm. Validation studies were carried out for specificity, accuracy, precision, limit of detection (LOD), and quantitation (LOQ). Validation studies revealed that the method is simple, reliable and reproducible. The limit of detection and limit of quantitation for spironolactone, canrenone, and β-isomer was achieved 0.018% and 0.053%, 0.022% and 0.66% and 0.028%, and 0.084%, respectively. Forced degradation studies were carried out for stability testing, and system suit parameters were also performed to test the...

Moringa oleifera Lam is a fast-growing deciduous tree widely cultivated in tropical and sub-tropical regions. All parts of the plant have widely acclaimed nutrition and health-promoting values, but little has been done regarding the toxicity. This study evaluated the safety of different extracts from Moringa flowers using brine shrimp and cell line models. The effect of different concentrations (0.0625-1 mg/mL) of Moringa oleifera flower extracts was assessed on the percentage hatching of brine shrimp cysts and Lethal Concentration (LC50) mortality of nauplii, respectively. Successful hatching of cysts was in the order: Tea (boiled aqueous extract) >aqueous extract>methanol extract>ethanol extract>acetone extract, and mortality of nauplii was concentration-dependent. The highest mortality was observed for all the extracts at 1 mg/mL, with acetone extract exhibiting the highest toxicity (LC50 at 40μg/ml). Cytotoxicity activity of Moringa oleifera flower extract on human liver cancer HepG2 cells and computational validation of cell death was evaluated on HepG2/C3A cell lines treated with 12.5, 25, 50, 100, and 200 μg/mL of Moringa oleifera flower for 48 hours and analyzed...

Introduction: Medial malleolus fractures are among the most common fractures encountered around the ankle joint. This study was performed to assess the functional outcome between cannulated cancellous screw fixations versus tension band wiring in managing these fractures. Method: A total of 30 patients were selected and were randomly segregated into two groups, Group A and Group B. Group A patients were treated with CC Screw fixation, and Group B patients were treated with TBW. The study was conducted during a time frame of 2 years between 2019- 2021. Results: Group A was treated with a CC screw. At the end of 8 weeks, all the patients in this group showed signs of healing at the fracture site. Post-op functional and radiological outcomes were assessed with Olerud and molander scoring. Out of 15 patients, 6 had excellent outcomes, 5 had good results, 3 had fair outcomes, and 1 had a poor outcome. Group B: TBWAt the end of 7 weeks all the pts in this group showed signs of healing...

Hyperlipidemia is a term that encompasses various genetic and acquired disorders that describe elevated lipid levels within the human body. The present study aims to design newer potent PCSK9 Inhibitors to treat hyperlipidemia. In the current study, pharmacophoric features like one hydrogen bond acceptor, one hydrogen bond donor, and one aromatic ring were used to construct a virtual library of ligands. A virtual library consists of 150 ligands containing substituted heterocycles like Imidazole, Thiazole, Oxadiazole, thiadiazole, oxazole, Benzthiazole, Amino triazole, Benzoxazole, Pyrimidine, and Pyrrole. The binding mechanism of newly designed ligands with target enzyme PCSK9 was studied using Autodock 4.2.6. Docking studies show that Lig7, Lig15, Lig34, Lig49, and Lig103 were highly active hits, and nearly 90 designed ligands were found to moderately inhibit PCSK9 enzyme, which is proven to be effective hits. When all the 150designed ligands were further subjected to drug-likeliness properties using software like Molinspiration, Osiris property Explorer all ligands were found to possess drug-likeliness...
