Introduction / Objective: In this study, we aimed to elucidate the action of ultra-diluted (potency 6CH as per homeopathic pharmacopeia) ethanolic extract of Arsenicum album (Arsenic 6CH) on cytokine gene expression changes along with alteration of hepatic histology in Gallus gallus embryo (embryonated egg) challenged with the spike protein (S protein RBD of Delta SARS-CoV-2). Methods: Allantoic fluid was collected during harvesting of the inoculated eggs after antigenic challenge. The gene expression analysis of interferons (IFN α, IFN β, IFN γ); transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF β1); interleukins (IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-1β) were studied in real-time PCR. Pre- and post-treatment sets were separately studied. Hepatic tissue of the embryos was collected for histological study. Results: The most prominent changes were found with IL-10 expression, which was significantly increased directly by Arsenic 6CH; in pre-and post-treatment experimental sets, its level was further increased, while in control sets, such changes were not delineated. Some changes were found in relation to INF β, IL-8, IL-1β, and TGF β1 in alcohol 6CH (potentized...

Substituted quinoxaline has received considerable attention during the last few years as they are endowed with various biological activities and have a wide range of therapeutic properties. Piperazine has proven its worth in numerous clinically active drugs broader areas of therapeutic index. Hence, biologically important quinoxaline derivatives containing a piperazine moiety and Schiff base scaffolds were prepared. The structures of the synthesized compounds were characterised by elemental analysis, IR, NMR, and Mass spectra. All the prepared derivatives were screened for antibacterial and antifungal activity by disc diffusion method using nutrient agar media against Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus pumilus, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, & potato dextrose agar medium for activity against Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans using ciprofloxacin as a standard for antibacterial and clotrimazole as a standard for antifungal activity respectively. Fluoro and trimethoxy-containing derivatives have shown promising activity against gram–ve bacteria P. aeruginosa. Some compounds have shown moderate antifungal and antibacterial...

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic demyelinating disease of the central nervous system characterized by Neuroinflammation, oligodendrocyte loss, and axonal pathology. Bergenin, a chief phytochemical constituent of Bergenia species, has been shown to exert anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. The cuprizone (CPZ) model is an established mouse model of MS and causes demyelination and induces motor dysfunction, cognitive impairment, and Neuroinflammation leading to damage in the myelinated neuronal region of the brain. Our study examined the potential neuroprotective effects of Bergenin in cuprizone-intoxicated C57BL/6 mice. Mice were fed with chow containing 0.2 % cuprizone for 42 days, followed by Bergenin treatment (25 mg/kg and 50 mg/kg/day, i.p) given for 42 days. At the end of the experimental period, animals were tested on behavioural activities to evaluate changes in balance and motor coordination. Mice were then sacrificed to estimate the biochemical status, and histology of brain sections was used to assess the demyelination rate and myelin inflammatory status. The aim of this study was to examine the neuroprotective effects of Bergenin...

Jasminum multiflorum and Jasminum mesnyi, the ornamental shrubs belonging to family Oleaceae are widely distributed throughout India. Despite their use in the essence industry for making perfumes, oils, and creams, these species are also used in the healing wounds and ulcers, constipation, flatulence, skin diseases, rheumatism, stomatitis, diabetes, stress, antiseptic, diuretics, and gastric disturbance. The present study is designed to establish the authenticity of both species by evaluating various standardization parameters. The stems of both species were collected and dried under shade. Freehand transverse sections were taken for microscopic examination. The standardization parameters such as Moisture content, Ash values, Extractive values, Heavy metal content, Aflatoxin content, Microbial infestation and, Pesticides residue have been determined as per WHO guidelines. Results showed the J. multiflorum stem was greenish-grey in color, cylindrical shaped, fragile and have aromatic odor. Microscopy showed the presence of glandular multicellular trichomes, epidermis, collenchyma, endodermis, medullary rays, vessels, xylem cells, parenchyma, fibre bundle and calcium oxalate crystals. The stem of J. mesnyi is yellowish-green in color the surface is smooth and...

Sandhāna kalpanā (Fermentation process) is a unique procedure implemented in Ayurveda for the preparation of fermented alcoholic and acidic medicinal formulations. Sandhāna dravyās (fermenting agents) act as fermentation initiators in them. The commonly used Sandhāna dravyās are Dhātakipuṣpā (flowers of Woodfordia fruticosa), madhūkapuṣpā (flowers of Madhuka indica) and yeast. Almost in all Sandhāna dravyās, the presence of microflora plays a significant role in fermentation. In recent studies, it was proved that the dried flowers of Dhātaki and Madhūkapuṣpā have yeast colonies in it. Total aerobic microbial count testing of Tulasi puṣpā (Ocimum tenuiflorum – flowers) done in our study also revealed the presence of yeast. Objectives: To determine whether tulasi is having any fermenting activity with respect to the microbial, pharmaceutical and analytical matter. Methods: Total aerobic microbial count testing of fresh and dry flowers of Tulasi and dry flowers of Madhūka was performed. Pharmaceutico-comparative analytical study of 3 samples of Ariṣṭā (a fermented medicinal preparation) named Drākṣāriṣṭā prepared using them was also done. Results: Flowers of Tulasi (fresh...
