Background: Injudiciously use of antibiotics / antimicrobial agents poses a major public health threat worldwide. Medical students will be future prescriber of antimicrobial agents so they need to have a wide awareness of the use and resistance of antibiotics. Therefore, this study was planned to assess the Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) toward antibiotics usage and antibiotics resistance among medical students of JLN Medical College, Ajmer, Rajasthan, (India). Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted in 255 medical students of JLN Medical College, Ajmer, Rajasthan. A validated questionnaire comprised of 20 questions, in which 10 in the knowledge section, 5 each in attitude and practice section was provided in November 2021.data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics after entering them into a Microsoft Excel sheet. Results: 94.12% knew that inappropriate uses of antibiotics agents might promote antibiotics resistance. 90.98 % of participants were aware that self-medication can make a contribution to antibiotics resistance. Students showed good knowledge about the use and resistance of antibiotics. 89.41% of participants showed...

Background: Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common metabolic disturbances associated with carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and relative or absolute insulin depletion. Various long-term complications of diabetes develop due to chronic hyperglycemia and insulin resistance. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and diabetes mellitus (DM) are major public health problems worldwide. Turmeric is one of the medicinal herbs studied for antioxidant, antibacterial, and antifungal effects. Curcumin has been established to be defensive against nephropathy. Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess turmeric’s effect on different kidney function parameters in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Materials and Methods: Two hundred patients with T2DM were selected in randomized control trial, of which 100 subjects were enrolled in the study group, were given 500 mg of raw turmeric powder in capsule form daily along with their antidiabetic drug medication (Metformin) for 3 months period while 100 subjects on medication of antidiabetic drug (Metformin) were selected as a control group. Serum levels of urea, creatinine, total protein, albumin, and globulin were...

A smile is a basic and universal facial expression and is an interaction between the teeth, the lip, and the gingival outlines. The smile plays a significant role in the communication and appearance of an individual. As the esthetic demand increases, obtaining a “perfect smile” has become a major goal for many people of this generation. One of the most important features of dental and facial aesthetics is the vertical anterior tooth display. This esthetic judgment is made by viewing the patient from the front side in dynamic states like a conversation, facial expressions, and smiling. Excess gingival display (EGD), also known as a gummy smile, is defined as a high smile line showing more than 1.5 to 2 mm of the gingiva during smiling. It is a common condition with a 2:1 female predilection. At least 50% of the population exhibit some form of gingival display in a normal smile. A gummy smile or an excess gingival display (EGD) is generally considered unattractive, while a discrepancy will always...

To study and investigate transfersomes as a transdermal delivery system for the poorly soluble drug, Lornoxicam-loaded transfersomes were prepared with non-ionic surfactants like span 80 and tween 80 by the rotary evaporation-sonication method. Drug & polymer was dissolved in an organic solvent mixture of chloroform and ethanol (1:1, v/v). The outcome of the work is that prepared formulations were characterized for particle size analysis, drug entrapment, optical, phase contrast and transmission electron microscopy, in-vitro drug release through cellophane membrane, and drug release kinetic studies. FTIR studies showed compatibility of the drug with excipients. Based on the entrapment efficiency, drug content and in-vitro release studies, the formulation S2 containing span 80 (4% w/w) was selected for permeation studies through albino mice skin and compared with the pure lornoxicam solution. The cumulative percentage of lornoxicam permeated in all formulations was significantly (p<0.05) higher than the pure drug solution. Parameters like vesicular size, zeta potential, and drug entrapment were evaluated after one month. The study substantiated that the transfersome can be used...

Objectives: Ears are an important part in our facial aesthetics and cosmetics. Complete and partial ear cleft patients are routine in the ENT outpatient department for surgical repair. The objective of this study is to evaluate the surgical outcomes of auricular lobuloplasty. Methods: Total 446 patients who underwent auricular lobuloplasty were included in this study. Demographic characteristics, the average duration of earrings worn, presence of complications and other factors were evaluated. Result: The mean follow-up was 9 months, with the shortest and the longest follow-up being 6 and 12 months, respectively. Surgeries were performed under local anesthesia in 446 cases. There were very few postoperative complications, and revision surgery was needed in 7 out of 446. Conclusion: Multiple surgical techniques exist for repairing earlobe deformities. Auricular lobuloplasty via sandwich technique is a surgical procedure that has several advantages, including safety ease of use, effectiveness, cheap, and without any advanced skills and instrument...
