The objective of the present work is to develop and standardize the UV-Spectrophotometric method for the assessment of Bilastine in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage forms. On account of not much work being reported on the drug Bilastine and also it is a new second-generation anti-histamine molecule. Hence it is necessary in this context to relook into the older methods and further research for new methods to decide on the efficacy, cost, and selectivity of the method. The λmax of bilastine was found at 282.5 nm. Beer’s law was obeyed in the concentration range of 10-50 mg/ml. The limit of detection and limit of quantification were found to2.94 mg/ml and 8.92 mg/ml respectively. Recovery of Bilastine in tablet formulation was observed in the range of 96-105%. All the precision, repeatability, and reproducibility studies were performed, and the % RSD was found to be less than 2%. The % degradation of Bilastine by acidic, basic, oxidation, thermal and photolytic degradation was found to be 6.04, 6.97, 10.68, 9.05, 6.5%, respectively. The...

Background: Depression is becoming an important health problem worldwide because of its relatively high lifetime prevalence, significant disability, suffering, dysfunction, and economic burden caused by it. Objectives: The present study was conducted with the objective to determine the prescribing pattern of antidepressant drugs in patients suffering from depression disorder in the psychiatric outpatient department of a tertiary care hospital. Materials and Method: A prospective observational study was conducted to analyze the drug prescription pattern of the various antidepressant drug prescribed in Depressive Disorder. This study was conducted in psychiatric OPD of a tertiary care teaching hospital. Results: A total of 150 patients attending the psychiatric OPD were screened for the study. Among them, 75 were excluded as they had other psychiatric and medical illnesses. Out of 75 patients, 41 (54.7%) were males, and 34 (45.3%) were females. Most of the cases fall under the age group of 18 to 30 years. Escitalopram 48 (28.2%) was the most commonly prescribed antidepressant followed by sertraline 14 (8.2%), Paroxetine 5 (2.9%), Desvenlafaxine...

Objective: The aim of the study was to develop osmotic tablets of nateglinide by two methods, namely elementary osmotic pump (EOP) and push-pull osmotic pump (PPOP) method for controlled drug release. Methods: Initially, pre-compression parameters were studies for the tablet blend in both EOP and PPOP methods. The tablets were prepared by the wet granulation method in both methods. The prepared tablets were evaluated for various physicochemical parameters, in-vitro dissolution, and the dissolution data were fitted into kinetic models for knowing the mechanism of drug delivery. The optimized formulation obtained in both methods was further characterized for FTIR and stability studies. Results: In EOP method, P1-P14 formulations prepared before coating exhibited 16h drug release, and after coating (F1-F14) all the formulations exhibited 24h prolonged drug release, with F14 showing the highest drug release of 98.82%. In PPOP method, in-vitro drug release depended on the effect of plasticizer, effect of drug layer to coating weight gain, and osmogen concentration. Finally, formulation FF14 was optimized with the highest drug release of 99.97%,...

A new preorganized ligand, benzil bis [2-(2-amino-ethylamino) ethanol)] (H2BAE) has been synthesized and characterized for the first time. Copper (II) and cobalt (II) complexes of H2BAE have been synthesized and characterized based on molar conductivity data IR, UV-Vis spectroscopy. The complexes are found to have general formula M(BAE)2 (where, M = Cu (II) and Co (II). IR spectral data indicate that H2BAE acts as hexadentate ligand. The complexes are 6-coordinate and found to have octahedral structure; the copper complex is investigated using ESR spectroscopy at room temperature (RT) and liquid nitrogen temperature (LNT). The spin Hamiltonian, orbital reduction, and bonding parameters are calculated for the complex. The interactions of these complexes with calf thymus DNA have been investigated using absorption spectrophotometry. Groove binding of complexes to DNA is suggested on the basis of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) binding constants and the variations in the absorption spectra of metal complexes in the presence of DNA. The copper complex binds DNA more strongly than cobalt complexes. Metal complexes are screened for their...

The main objective presents research work to synthesize, characterization, and in-vivo evaluation of Pyridazine derivatives. To study the different synthesized derivatives by using different analytical parameters like IR, Mass, and NMR analysis. And also find out the antihypertensive activity. The studies on the hydralazine group drugs led to the synthesis of many Pyridazine derivatives with a wide activity spectrum on the cardiovascular system. Pyridazine derivatives, a class of compounds containing the N-N bond, exhibit a wide range of pharmacological activities such as antidepressant, antihypertensive and cardiotonic etc. Some 7-phenyl-3, 4, 8, 9-tetrahydro-2H-pyridazino [1, 6-a] [1, 3, 5] triazin-2-imine were synthesized by reacting 6-Phenyl substituted 2, 3, 4, 5-Tetrahydro pyridazin-3-one with cyclic secondary amine under Mannich reaction conditions. The total seven compounds (vj1-vj7) were synthesized under Mannich reaction conditions. All the synthesized derivatives were selected for evaluation of antihypertensive activities by a non-invasive method using Tail Cuff method. Most of the compounds showed good antihypertensive activity. Few compounds like vj4, vj5, and vj6 were found to show a highly significant...
