The current work reports an ecofriendly approach to study morphological and biochemical responses of Pistia stratiotes L. (Water lettuce) were investigated. The assessment of morphological, biochemical parameters, and accumulation of chromium in free-floating macrophyte exposed at its various concentrations viz. 0.25, 0.50, 1.25, and 2.5 ppm of chromium at the regular intervals of 4, 8, and 12 days, respectively. Pistia showed morphological toxicity like withering of roots, chlorosis, and necrosis at higher concentrations (2.5 ppm) of chromium. However, the plant showed normal growth at a lower concentration of 0.25 and 0.50 ppm. The evaluation of biochemical parameters of test plants showed Total Chlorophyll, Carbohydrate, and Protein content was increased at lower concentrations (0.25 ppm) and decreased at higher concentrations (2.5 ppm) of chromium. The toxicity of chromium was found to be directly proportional to its concentration and duration of exposure. It is evident from the results that the accumulation of chromium can produce adverse effects on the morphology of test plant species at a higher concentration of chromium. This...

Introduction: Human Norovirus (HuNoV) is the major cause of acute gastroenteritis in pediatric populations, accounting for approximately 18% of cases worldwide. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence rate and characterization of genogroup in the pediatric population with gastrointestinal disease. Materials and Methods: A total of 205 fecal specimens were taken from children below 15 years of age with acute gastroenteritis disease. Samples were collected from the pediatric department of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Luck now. RNA was extracted from fecal specimens and screened for Norovirus GI and GII genogroups using real-time PCR. Results: The overall rate of Norovirus infections was 23 (11.2%). Among patients positive for Norovirus, 17(74.0%) were identified as GII genogroup, and 6 (26.0%) were identified as GI genogroup. Conclusion: The majority of Norovirus associated viral gastroenteritis cases among children were attributed to GII genogroup. Younger patients were at more risk of acute gastroenteritis. As the viral transmission was evident by the oral-fecal route, the high positivity of clinical...

Marine carbohydrates play a crucial role in drug development and disease eradication as it is suggested as a promising bioactive material for its various properties. Seaweeds are the marine macroalgal source that contains a large amount of sulfated polysaccharides. Sargassum wightii (S. wightii) is one of the seaweed which possesses a wide range of pharmacological actions. The aim of the present work is to qualitatively quantitatively analyze the phytochemical substances and screen the antibacterial activity of S. wightii. The study is accomplished with chloroform and methanolic extracts of S. wightii. Among this, methanolic extract of S. wightii shows the presence of more phytochemicals and a substantial antibacterial activity. Quantitative analysis showed the presence of flavonoid content more. Antibacterial activity was more for gram-negative bacteria. Analysis of phytochemical substances and antibacterial activity determination reflected significant results. Hence further observations and studies on this macroalgae could bring out promising results in the future for the welfare of...

According to Iranian traditional Medicine (ITM) “Monzej” es are applied to mature and eliminate abnormal humor, correct the abnormal temperament and promote the formation of normal humor, restoring the functions of all organs and the natural body force. “Monzej-e-balgham” (applying the above functions on abnormal phlegm, called “Balgham” in ITM, is used to evacuate morbid matters produced due to excess or putrefaction of phlegm by maturing and eliminating the abnormal “Balgham”, leading to control the development of many diseases in human body like gastrointestinal disorders (poor digestion, sour burp and reflux), Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, epilepsy, hemiplegia, facial palsy, asthma, bronchitis, atherosclerosis, vitiligo and impotency. Regarding the definition of phlegm in traditional medicine and the characteristics of mucus, it can be argued that one of “Balgham” type could be the secretions of the gastrointestinal cells or mucus. Due to this similarity, it is possible to alter body’s mucus with the help of a “Monzej-e-balgham”. So, in this research, the effect of tablet and syrup formulations of “Monzej-e-balgham” on stomach mucus...

Ibuprofen has a higher dose (2000-2400 mg/day) that leads to several adverse effects like stomach upset, headache, bloating, hyperacidity, diarrhea, nausea, constipation, mild heartburn, ringing in your ears, vomiting and blurred vision. Piperine is a natural alkaloid obtained from piper species, principally from Piper longum and Piper nigrum (Family: Piperaceae). Piperine demonstrates excellent bioavailability Enhancing activity of different xenobiotics. Here in this study, the synergistic effect of Piperine and its synthesized derivatives was studied. Ibuprofen (10 mg/kg), in combination with Piperine and its derivatives (5a-5d) (10 mg/kg, were administered to Wistar rats, and the pharmacokinetic parameters were estimated. Thus, the study concludes that the presence of 5a significantly increases the absorption and reduces the elimination of the drug from the...
