Prediabetes, a transitional metabolic state preceding type 2 diabetes, is characterized by insulin resistance, moderate hyperglycaemia, dyslipidaemia, and oxidative stress. This study evaluates the preventive effects of aqueous extracts from the leaves, calyces, and seeds of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. (white variety) on glucose and lipid metabolism disorders induced by a high-calorie diet in Wistar rats. Eight groups of six male Wistar rats were fed for 12 weeks with either a standard diet, a high-calorie diet, or a high-calorie diet combined with two doses (100 or 200 mg/kg) of the plant extracts. The leaf and calyx extracts significantly reduced weight gain, BMI, blood glucose, insulin levels, HOMA-IR, and HOMA-B indices (p < 0,05), showing no significant differences compared to the standard diet group (p > 0,05). Postprandial blood glucose levels also approached those of the standard group. The study investigates to find the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of the crude extract of coral Pseudopterogorgia australiensis. Various assays were used to assess the biological activities of the crude extract. The antioxidant capacity was evaluated using DPPH, ABTS, and FRAP tests. The DPPH assay indicated a dose-dependent radical scavenging effect whereas the ABTS assay showed a significant inhibition of which is comparable to ascorbic acid. In the case of FRAP assay it confirmed that the antioxidant activity revealing a strong reducing power which was equivalent to Trolox. These results demonstrated that the crude extract of Pseudopterogorgia australiensis have strong potential to neutralize ROS and mitigate oxidative damage. The Anti-inflammatory activity was assessed through albumin denaturation, proteinase inhibitory activity, and heat-induced heamolysis. The albumin denaturation assay demonstrated moderate inhibition where as the proteinase inhibitory assay showed stronger inhibition which is comparable to diclofenac sodium. Introduction: Super Vasmol, an emulsion-based hair dye containing paraphenylenediamine (PPD), is an emerging cause of suicidal poisoning in developing countries, commonly presenting with cervicofacial oedema, rhabdomyolysis, and acute kidney injury (AKI). Cardiac involvement, though rare, typically manifests as tachycardia or myocarditis. This report highlights sinus bradycardia as an unusual presentation. Case Presentation: Two adult women with Super Vasmol poisoning developed marked sinus bradycardia during hospitalization. Case 1, a 34-year-old woman, presented with mild dysphagia and developed asymptomatic sinus bradycardia (heart rate [HR] 38–50/min) on day 3, resolving by day 6. Case 2, a 30-year-old woman, had mild cervicofacial edema and symptomatic bradycardia (HR 40–50/min) with giddiness and breathlessness on day 3, which normalized by day 6. Both patients recovered with conservative management. Conclusion: Sinus bradycardia is a rare but significant manifestation of Super Vasmol poisoning, potentially linked to PPD-induced cardiotoxicity or other components. Background: Seizure occurs more frequently in neonatal period than in any other time of life. Estimated incidence of neonatal seizure varies according to case definition, method of ascertainment and definition of the neonatal period and ranges from 1 to 5 per 1000 live births. Methodology: Neonates admitted in Nicu, department of Paediatrics, Nalanda Medical College and Hospital, Patna in time period of Aug 2023- July 2024. Sample size was 100. For seizure control in neonates with active convulsion either levetiracetam or phenobarbitone was allocated to the randomization. Intravenous levetiracetam is given at a loading dose of 20 mg/kg. Maintenance is given at a dose of 10mg/kg 8 hourly. Intravenous phenobarbitone is given at a dose of 20mg/kg and 5mg/kg 12hrly of maintenance dose. Background: Allergic Fungal Rhinosinusitis (AFRS) is a common disease and denoted as Chronic Rhinosinusitis with polyps (CRSwNP). Presents as Eosinophilic nasal polyps, and allergic mucin in the nose and sinuses demonstrable with Functional Endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) surgery.
