The ethanolic extract of Moringa oleifera leaves & methanolic extract of rose hips of Rosa damascena were first subjected to various phytochemical tests and further assessed for their antioxidant activity by DPPH method. Different ratio of two drugs in the polyherbal formulation were based on antioxidant activity in albino Wistar rats. Thirty rats (180 -250 g) of either sex were randomly divided into five groups. Group I: Normal Control received 0.9% Normal Saline. Group II: Disease control, received Isotretinoin 60 mg/kg p.o single dose daily for 11 days without any treatment. Group III: Received Isotretinoin 60 mg/kg p.o single dose daily for 11 days and treated with standard drug Imipramine 10-20 mg/kg p.o for the next 45 days. Group IV: Received Isotretinoin 60 mg/kg p.o single dose daily for 11 days and treated with Polyherbal (Moringa leaves & Rosehips) suspension (100 mg/kg p.o.) for next 45 days. Group V: Received Isotretinoin 60 mg/kg p.o single dose daily for 11 days and treated with Polyherbal suspension (200 mg/kg p.o) for...

Transdermal patch or skin patch is a medicated adhesive patch that is placed on the skin to deliver a specific dose of medication through the skin and into the bloodstream. Transdermal patches of dolasetron have prepared by the solvent evaporation method using eudragit RL-100: eudragit RS-100 and ethylcellulose: PVP, using different ratios (8:2, 6:4, 5:5), in solvents like ethanol and methanol (1.25:1.25). The dry films of the prepared patches evaluated for physicochemical parameters such as flexibility, thickness, smoothness, weight variation; moisture content, hardness and tensile strength. The formulation exhibited flexibility, uniform thickness and weight, smoothness, good drug content (92 to 96%) and little moisture content. The in-vitro diffusion studies carried out for the formulated TDD patches followed by the Higuchi diffusion mechanism. The fabricated formulation has identified as ideal formulations depending on their drug release properties on the comparison, at the end of 48 h of the formulations. The formulation is containing eudragit RL-100: eudragit RS-100 (hydrophobic polymers) or a combination of hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymers (ethylcellulose and PVP)....

The present investigation deals with the preliminary phytochemical, High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectral analysis of Luffa cylidrica (L.) Roem (Cucurbitaceae) fruits. The results revealed that most of the phytochemicals evaluated were present in ethanolic extract as compared to the petroleum ether extract. Quantitative analysis revealed that the fruits were rich in phenolic compounds. As the ethanolic extract resolved most of the phytoconstituents studied, it was subjected to High Performance Thin Layer Chromatographic (HPTLC) studies. HPTLC data of extract shows ten different peaks confirming that ten compounds are present in the ethanolic extract of Luffa cylindrica. The FT-IR spectrum showed the presence of alcohols, phenol, alkanes, alkenes and ketones. The results confirm the fact that L. cylindica possess important bioactive constituents useful for our health, so further, scientific investigation is...

UV irradiation is one of the main causes of what is known as photoaging characterized by loss of skin elasticity and the appearance of wrinkles. In this study, the anti-wrinkle activity of grape seed extract (GSE) and Pomegranate seed extract (PSE) was studied through evaluation of their in-vitro antioxidant, anti-tyrosinase and in-vivo anti-wrinkle activity in UVB-irradiated mice through topical application of PSE and GSE at 50 mg/kg/twice a week for 15 weeks. The total phenolic content of PSE and GSE was 2.1375 and 5.9625 mg GAE/g extract, respectively. PSE and GSE also showed DPPH scavenging activity with IC50 of 37.9 and 29.9 µg/mL, respectively. PSE and GSE showed anti-tyrosinase activity with IC50 of 115 and 107.75 μg /mL, respectively, while that of Kojic acid is 17.45 μg /mL. In UVB-irradiated mice, the increased expression of metaloproteinase (MMP-2) was significantly inhibited by PSE and GSE where their activities exceeded that of the standard turmeric extract (TME). The topical application of PSE, GSE, and TME of the UVB radiated groups prevented...

Vascular dementia (VaD), a diverse group of brain disorders with cognitive decline is attributable to cerebrovascular pathologies. Recent studies have shown that mitochondrial dysfunctions and oxidative stress are involved in cognitive decline. The aim of the present study was designed to evaluate the effects of Curcumin loaded solid lipid nanoparticles (Cur-SLNP) in vascular dementia (VaD) against homocystiene (HCY) induced toxicity by behavioral and biochemical assessment in different regions of the brain. The sign of VaD, i.e., learning and memory levels, were evaluated with a different behavioral assessment like plus-maze test. Neurobehavioral analyses revealed that the Cur-SLNP administration successfully ameliorated cognitive decline observed in HCY rats. Compared to HCY administration, Cur-SLNP 10 mg/kg and 25 mg/kg administration showed ameliorative effect in behavioral and biochemical assessment induced by HCY. We found that lipid peroxidation levels decreased significantly in striatum (p<0.01), cortex (p<0.001), and hippocampus (p<0.001) after oral administration of Cur-SLNP with HCY animals. Hence, the present findings suggest that the neuroprotective role of Cur-SLNP against HCY induced toxicity could be a...
