The objective of this present work was to develop Solid Lipid Nanoparticle (SLN) gel for topical delivery of clobetasol propionate to enhance its permeation using silk sericin as a permeation enhancer. The proposed Clobetasol propionate gel loaded with solid lipid nanoparticle was prepared by solvent injection method. The effects of different strengths of lipid on the particle size, zeta potential, drug entrapment and release, and drug excipient interactions and the thermal behavior were evaluated. The final gel formulations were obtained by adding carbopol as a gelling agent and sericin a natural silk protein as a permeation enhancer and tested by an in-vitro gelling test. Prepared gel was evaluated for viscosity, pH, and in-vitro permeation properties. This study showed that the combination of carbopol with silk sericin produced the most promising gel formulation for topical application in the treatment of psoriasis. In this study, it was demonstrated that silk sericin-based gel, blended with solid lipid nanoparticle, could be produced with a cost-effective and industrially scalable technique. The outcome represents the...

Predisposing exposures to cadmium have been implicated in hepatotoxicity, hence the search for therapeutic interventions. Thirty Wistar rats were randomly grouped into six (1-6) with 5 rats each. Group 1 received only 5mg/kg body weight (b.wt) of Cadmium Chloride (CdCl2) intra-peritoneally. Group 2 received feed and water ad libitum. Groups 3 and 4 received CdCl2 followed by low and high dose (10mg/kg b.wt and 40mg/kg b.wt respectively) of Aqueous Extract of the Zest of Citrus sinensis (AEZCs). Groups 5 and 6 were pre-treated with low and high doses of the extract before CdCl2. Extract administrations were orally and the experiment lasted for 8weeks. The livers were harvested, grossed and the liver to Bodyweight ratios (LW/BW) was determined shortly before being processed for histology and homogenate for SOD and MDA assay. Blood samples were collected for AST, ALT, ALP and total proteins (TP) analysis. Significant (p<0.05) differences in LW/BW, SOD, MDA, ALT, ALP, AST and TP were observed between groups 1 and 2. This was similarly noted between groups pre-treated...

Consumption of fresh leafy vegetables by a street vendor cause salmonellosis is a major public health problem worldwide. The aim of the study to investigate total microbial count and the occurrence of ESBL producer and antimicrobial resistance pattern of Salmonella from fresh leafy greens. In this sample Salmonella spp. Population ranged from 40.33 to 35.33 × 102 CFU/g of fresh samples. The highest Salmonella spp. The population was observed in 40.33 × 102 CFU/g in green leaf, followed by Coriander and Ponnankanikirrai (red). Among the 10 isolates, five (50%) isolates namely NS-1, 2, 4, 5, and 7, could be ESBL producers by double-disc synergy test. From the 5 Salmonella spp., 4 isolates (88.89%) were resistance to cefuroxime and cefixime, 3 isolates (77.78%) resistant to ceftazidime and cefdinir, 2 isolates (33.33%) resistant to amoxiclav ceftriaxone and co-trimoxazole, and 1 isolate (11.11%) resistant to cefixime, amikacin, and chloramphenicol. Citric acid eradicated the Salmonella spp. averagely 100% at 3% concentration while 9.77 (0.5%) to 93% (2.5% concentration) from control. Acetic acid (3...

Heterocyclic systems are a part of a large number of drugs and biologically relevant molecules. The chemistry and biological study of heterocyclic compounds have been an interesting field for a long time, and oxazole is one such moiety that has gained attention in recent times due to its increasing importance in the field of medicinal chemistry. Oxazole is a doubly unsaturated five-membered ring having one oxygen atom at position 1 and nitrogen at position 3 separated by a carbon atom in between. The substituted pattern in oxazole derivatives play a vital role in delineating the biological activities like antimicrobial, antifungal, antitubercular, anticancer. The utility of oxazole as intermediates for the synthesis of new chemical entities in medicinal chemistry has been increased in the past few years. Oxazole is an important heterocyclic nucleus having a wide spectrum of biological activities, which drew the attention of researchers around the globe to synthesis various oxazole derivatives and screen them for their various pharmacological activities like antimicrobial activity, antitubercular activity, anticancer activity. 6-(substitutedbenzylidene)-2-methylthiazolo...

This current study describes developing the novel, precise, simple analytical method suitable for determination of Mirabegron (MIRA) in a pharmaceutical dosage form. Reversed-Phase High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (RP-HPLC) method was utilized for method development and validation studies of MIRA. Chromatographic separation was carried out on Agilent technologies -1260 infinity system, eclipse XDB C18 column (4.6 mm i.d. × 250 mm, 5 µm particle size) at a flow rate of 1 ml/min and detection wavelength set at 251 nm. Mobile phase consists of methanol and acetonitrile were mixed in the ratio of 95:5 v/v. The retention time for MIRA was found to be 5.813 min. The calibration was linear in the concentration range of 0.2 – 1.0 µg/ml. (r2 = 0.999). The limit of detection and the limit of quantitation was found to be 0.0459 μg/mL and 0.1391 µg/ml, respectively. The precision of the proposed HPLC method was found to be 0.06494 (RSD) for intraday and 0.135251 (RSD) for interday that indicates good precision of the sample MIRA analyzed. A recovery...
