Lung cancer is one of predominant cancer which leads to death in the developed and developing countries. 80% of lung cancer cases in India are reported as Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC). EGFR (Epidermal growth factor receptor) that belongs to the tyrosine kinase family (RTKs) is the key paradigm of molecular targeted therapy of lung cancer. Garlic (Allium sativum) is a common Indian spice that belongs to the Allium family, is capable of allowing cancer cell death normally, the process called apoptosis. The therapeutic effect of garlic is due to the presence of its bioactive constituents, including the organosulfur compounds and flavonoids. Molecular docking studies using AutoDock provide the comprehensive binding of bioactive compounds of garlic with EGFR that may lead to its effective inhibition. The current study paves the way for understanding the binding of garlic’s bioactive compounds against EGFR, and it can act as a potential lead molecule for the development of anti-cancer...

Background: This study aims to correlate the ankle/brachial index (ABI) with the severity of diabetic retinopathy in type 2 diabetic patients. Material and Methods: A hospital-based prospective study of 100 types 2 diabetic patients aged 40 to 80 years were recruited from the outpatient department. Ankle/brachial index scores and the presence and stage of diabetic retinopathy were assessed and analyzed. Results: Significant associations between abnormal ABI score and severe diabetic retinopathy (p<0.05) was found. Conclusion: Patients with abnormal ankle/brachial index were more likely to have severe diabetic retinopathy and were at increased risk of losing their sight, mandating fundus evaluation in such cases for timely intervention to safeguard the vision of the...

Background: Topical NSAIDs are the first line choice of drug for management Osteoarthritis elderly patients, which produce less systemic exposure compared with oral NSAIDs. Now a day’s several topical formulations are available. This study provides a comparison between two various topical diclofenac formulations. Methods: 12 weeks, randomized controlled trial to evaluate dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) based diclofenac solution and Linseed oil based diclofenac gel safety and efficacy profile. 43 men and women, age 40-65 years, with radiologically confirmed primary OA of the knee were included in this study. The included participants treated with DMSO based diclofenac solution; 40 drops 3 times daily directly to the painful knee without a massage (test group) and Linseed oil based diclofenac gel; 1 gram 3 times daily to the painful knee(control group). The primary outcome measure included the continuous variable pain relief and improved physical function measured by the Western Ontario McMaster Universities (WOMAC) Likert 3.1OA Index. Secondary efficacy measure was reduced stiffness. Safety assessment included adverse events and application site reactions. Results: DMSO...

The study aimed to develop a specific, exact, selective, precise and accurate Reversed-Phase Stability Indicating Ultra-fast Liquid Chromatography (RP-UFLC) strategy is created and validated for the determination of glimepiride in the tablet dosage form. The method showed an adequate separation for glimepiride from their degradation products. The optimum separation was achieved by using 250 mm × 4.6 mm C18 column (5 μm) with a mixture of potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate adjusted to pH 4.6 using (orthophosphoric acid) and acetonitrile in the ratio of 75:25 at a flow rate of 1 ml/min. The detection was carried out at 236 nm, and the retention time was found to be 5.9 min. Linearity was observed (correlation coefficient r2 0.9989). % R.S.D was found to be less than 2%. Accuracy of the method found to be in the range of 98.0 to 102.00 (% w/w). The above method was validated concerning system suitability, linearity, precision, the limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ), accuracy (recovery) and robustness according to ICH guidelines. The...

γ-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the vertebrate central nervous system (CNS); it activates the GABAA receptors that play a role in epilepsy. Targeting GABAA receptors through specific enhancement of neuronal inhibition involving GABA can be a better mechanism for identification of novel antiepileptic drugs. In this report, screening of novel isolated homoisoflavanones from bulbs of Ledabouria revoluta against human GABRB3 active site using molecular docking studies. The docking analysis reveals the identification of leads with favorable binding energy and hydrogen bond interactions confirmed the effective modulation of the receptor. Based on the dock score and number of hydrogen bond interactions, compound 3 observed to be the most...
