A new simple, precise, accurate and selective UPLC method has been developed and validated for stability indicating UPLC method for simultaneous estimation of Albuterol sulfate, Theophylline and Bromhexine HCl in the tablet dosage form. The method was carried out on a Hibra C18, 250mm x 4.6mm, 5µm. a column with a mobile phase consisting of buffer and acetonitrile and buffer in the ratio of (55: 45 v/v/v) and flow rate of 1.0 ml/ min. The detection was carried out at 260nm. The retention time for Albuterol sulfate, Theophylline, and Bromhexine HCl were found to be 5.8, 2.3 and 9.7 min respectively. The method was validated according to the ICH guidelines for specificity, LOD, LOQ, precision, accuracy, linearity and robustness. The method showed good reproducibility and recovery with %RSD less than 2. So the proposed method was found to be simple, specific, precise, accurate and linear than the methods reported earlier. Memory impairment (MI) is commonly seen in epilepsy and is at times aggravated by antiepileptic therapy. Recent studies reported that co-administration of nootropic agent with an antiepileptic drug (AED) might decrease the MI. This study was designed to evaluate MI activity of Eslicarbazepine (ESL) in temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) and to assess the protective effect of Nefiracetam (NEF) which is a racetam group nootropic. MI activity was evaluated by radial arm maze (RAM) on lithium-pilocarpine induced TLE in Wistar Albino Rats. Antiepileptic activity of ESL was also assessed in the absence and presence of NEF. ESL treated a group of animals had increased errors in RAM, compared to the control group which indicated the presence of MI. The extent of MI was decreased when given a half dose of ESL. ESL aggravated the MI in epileptic rats which was very much similar to phenytoin, a standard more than the control group. Co-administration of NEF reversed the MI induced by ESL significantly. Lipases occupy a prominent place amongst biocatalysts as they can hydrolyze fats into fatty acids and glycerol at the water-lipid interface. Lipase production is a prime area of interest for microbiologists, process engineers, and biochemists. Recent advances in green energy have led to renewed interest in the ability of microbial lipases to catalyze trans-esterification reaction for biodiesel production. Research carried out in this field has revealed that microbes, especially fungi and bacteria, are the tools of choices for commercial production. The primary objective of the study was to isolate lipase-producing microbes from the waste product of oil-contaminated soil sample and to assess their ability to grow in different oil medium. Samples were collected from oil-contaminated garages in Hubli-Dharwad region, Dharwad, Karnataka. Lipid-degrading microbes were trapped in a specialized medium containing various types of oils. All isolated strains were morphologically, physiologically and biochemically characterized. The process and functioning of newly implemented periodic safety update report system (PSUR) in the hospital were assessed using validated PSUR function assessment questionnaire (PFAQ) vetted by Delphi panel. Classical Delphi survey method was used to assess and validate the PFAQ in two successive review rounds with Delphi panel. Final validated PFAQ was circulated among health care practitioners (HCPs) to rate their responses. Responses were recorded for 2 phases of 9 months intervals each and assessed. Success factors and performance indicators listed in the PFAQ were successively added or deleted by the Delphi panel, in two successive rounds of revisions, yielding the final draft of PFAQ. One hundred sixty (160) PFAQs were circulated among HCPs in different wards of hospitals out of which 94 (58.75%) filled forms were received by the end of phase 2 study period. Push-pull osmotic pumps are controlled drug delivery systems for drugs with a broad range of solubilities; especially drugs that are poorly water-soluble. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the performance of the superdisintegrants (SD), crospovidone (CPVP), croscarmellose sodium (CS), and sodium starch glycolate (SSG), in push-pull tablets containing Nifedipine (NP) as a model drug. We performed an in-vitro dissolution test with phosphate buffer (0.05M) at pH 7.5 for 12 h. The amount of released NP was determined using a UV/Visible spectro-photometric method at a wavelength of 238 nm. At 12 h of release, the profile of CPVP- and CS-containing osmotic tablets was like that of the reference product Adalat OROS®, whereas the SSG-containing tablet showed differences.
