Antioxidant and antihyperlipidemic activities of the extracts of Syzygium cerasoideum were investigated by studying their in-vivo effects on triton and cholesterol induced hyperlipidemia. Highest antioxidant activity was exhibited by methanolic extract followed by chloroform extract of S. cerasoideum. In triton induced hyperlipidemic model, the groups treated with the extracts of S. cerasoideum and pitavastatin demonstrated a significant decrease in the levels of TC, TG, LDL-C, VLDL-C particularly treatment with CESC at the dose of 200 mg/kg b.w resulted in significant decrease in levels of TC (67.60%), TG (47.89%), LDL-C (85.80%) and VLDL-C (47.89%) whereas HDL-C levels are significant to standard. In cholesterol induced hyperlipidemic model, the groups treated with the extracts of S. cerasoideum and pitavastatin demonstrated a significant decrease with the CESC and MESC at low doses in the serum levels TC (68.68%), TG (60.22%), LDL-C (85.44%), VLDL-C (70.71%) besides an increase in serum HDL-C (62.26%) levels when compared to cholesterol-induced hyperlipidemic control group. The treated groups of S. cerasoideum caused a significant decrease in the levels of...

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common reproductive endocrine disorders, affecting the patient’s psychological functioning and satisfaction with life. Settings and Design: Tertiary care hospital based case-control study was conducted. Material and Methods: the study was effectuated in 372 patients in total, including an equal number of cases and controls.PHQ-9 was used to determine the depression based DSM-IV directly diagnostic criteria for depression and PCOSQS was used to assess the quality of life. Statistical analysis used: Data was examined using descriptive statistics, spearman co-relation, Chi-square test, and odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (95% CI). Results: The study shows an increased risk of depression in PCOS (76.96% of cases compared to 20.03% of controls), Odd’s ratio 5.95 (95% confidence interval [3.818 to 9.351]) and the depression was found to be having an impact on patient’s quality of life. Conclusions: The care of individuals with PCOS should include the screening and possible treatment for depression in order to achieve and sustain treatment goals considering the fact...

HAp and Zn-HAp Synthesis with several concentrations of Zn (5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%) w/w using Ca precursor from Maninjau Lake pensi shells was done with the sol-gel method. XRF for three hours obtained 96.525% Ca content in the form of CaO. XRD result for the synthesized samples showed the same diffraction pattern as the standard HAp (ICSD: 154493) phase which the intensity decreases with the addition of Zn concentration. In Zn-HAp 15% and 20% which were sintered at 600 °C for two hours, it was found that the impurity peaks were TCP [Ca3(PO4)2] and [Zn3(PO4)2] on the XRD pattern. In this study, the maximum concentration of Zn substitution in the HAp structure was obtained in Zn-HAp 10%. SEM result showed that Zn-HAp 10% had a better homogeneity than Zn-HAp 15% which produced impurities. Good antibacterial properties were also shown by Zn-HAp 10% for both tests of bacteria i.e. Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia...

In this study, 36 crystal structures available with type I-V inhibitors of VEGFR-2 kinase in the RCSB PDB were classified into DFG-in/-out conformation using visual analysis and KLIFS database. The focus was on Type II inhibitors as most kinase inhibitors belong to this category. Therefore, the crystal structures with DFG-out confirmation with a type II inhibitor were selected depending on the resolution and r-free value. 11 selected crystal structures were subjected to self-docking studies and interaction analysis, leading to the elimination of one crystal structure viz. PDB id 3U6J. 10 crystal structures were subjected to cross-docking analysis. No crystal structures were eliminated at this stage as 50% ligands were docked accurately at RMSD cut off ≤ 2Å. These structures were further evaluated for screening performance by calculation of five performance indicating terms. A rank order was established by performance terms. The next stage of selection was the calculation of enrichment factor and assessment of the number of chemical classes retrieved after docking of the DUD set along with actives....

1,3-Indanedione derivatives, which are of wide interest because of their diverse biological and chemical applications. A series of novel 1,3-Indanedione derivatives are synthesized via KNOEVENAGEL condensing reaction mechanism by condensing 1,3-Indanedione with the 1-(4-aminophenyl) ethanone to form a styrylated indanedione leading to the formation of different Schiff base (imine) preparation by using different aldehydes with the appropriate solvent mix at a suitable temperature. All the synthetic derivatives were fully characterized by spectral analysis data (FT-IR, NMR, and Mass). The newly synthesized compounds are evaluated for their antimicrobial activity (by using Cup-Plate method against selected bacterial strains amongst S. aureus, E. coli among total compounds, compounds 7 was found to have higher activity against selected strains and the results were found to be as moderate activity, for anti-fungal activity-compounds 2,8 are more potent, compounds are evaluated for their antioxidant NO scavenging (compound 7 is having more activity), for DPPH scavenging (compound 8 is having more activity), and inhibition of lipid peroxidation (compounds 3 and 9 are having more activity), for...
