Biosurfactants are surface active, amphiphilic biochemical compounds containing both hydrophobic and hydrophilic moieties produced by microorganisms. They are produced by a variety of microorganisms mainly fungi, bacteria, and yeasts on their cell surface or extracellularly secreted. Biosurfactant mediated synthesis of nanoparticles has now emerged as a green alternative for enhancing both nanoparticles synthesis & stabilization. One of the modes of action is through adsorbing onto metallic nanoparticles, surface stabilizing the nanoparticles & preventing aggregation. Hence, biosurfactant mediated production of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) was utilized in the present work. Biosurfactant was produced using Lactobacillus brevis and thus obtained biosurfactant was added to equal amounts of 1mM AgNO3 for production of AgNPs. The primary characterization of the AgNPs was done by visual observation. Further, AgNPs were characterized using UV-Vis Spectrophotometer which showed maximum absorption spectra at 420 nm, TEM revealed the size of AgNPs (18 nm). EDS was carried out to determine the presence of silver metal. Biosurfactant mediated AgNPs were assessed for the antimicrobial studies on MDR strains of bacteria...

Enteroaggregative Escherichia coli (EAEC) strains are causal agents of persistent diarrhea in developing countries. Enteroaggregative Escherichia coli strains (EAEC) are an emerging type of diarrheagenic E. coli. We aimed to isolate, identify and characterize the E. coli pathotypes and study their antibiotic resistance in children under five with diarrhea in Kanpur region, India. Children under 5 years suffering from acute diarrhea and attending an outpatient clinic or admitted in Rama Hospital, Kanpur were enrolled for the study. Severe diarrhea is a public health problem and is responsible for morbidity and mortality, especially in developing countries. DEC was detected by multiplex PCR. Among 38 E. coli isolates, 12 samples contain Cvd432 gene of EAEC diarrheagenic E. coli. Most of the strains are resistant to ampicillin, Co-trimoxazole, gentamicin, azithromycin, imipenem. Ciprofloxacin, Norflex and chloramphenicol are relatively more sensitive. The high antimicrobial resistance observed in our study raises a broad discussion on the indiscriminate or improper use of antimicrobials, besides the risks of...

The low bioavailability of drugs in the oral drug delivery system is the main concern and the development of a delivery system with a controlled release profile. This research aims in the dose reduction of aliskiren hemifumarate, evaluate the release efficacy of the drug from the patches by using various permeation enhancers. FTIR studies established the drug and polymer compatibility. The transdermal patches were prepared by using a solvent casting method using different polymers and permeation enhancers. The keshary chein diffusion cell was used for performing in-vitro permeation studies. By physicochemical parameters and in-vitro release pattern, the formulation made from MethocelK 15M (1:1.5) was selected for in-vivo studies. The steady plasma concentration was observed on application of developed transdermal patches, as confirmed by bioavailability studies in rats. The bioavailability was also improved as compared to oral administration. The SEM studies of transdermal patches show that the patches prepared with MethocelK 15M with cineol as penetration enhancer exhibited the uniform distribution of the drug. The hypertension was induced in rats...

Centella asiatica L. Urban (family: Umbelliferae) contains several active triterpenoids which have been reported to induce type I collagen which decreases substantially in photoaged skin. Centella asiatica extract is highly soluble in water but have low absorption into the skin. To overcome this, water in oil nanoemulsion loaded with Centella asiatica extract have been formulated, optimized and evaluated as the potential delivery system for treating photoaging. Nanoemulsions were formulated by the oil phase titration method and optimized by constructing pseudo-ternary phase diagrams. The prepared nanoemulsions were subjected to thermodynamic stability testing. Those that passed these tests were characterized for droplet size, polydispersity index, zeta potential and droplet morphology by Cryo-SEM. The prepared nanoemulsions were in nanometric range (optimized batch: 140.5 nm) with uniform size distribution (PDI: 0.086) and good physical stability (zeta potential: -33.9 mV). Topical permeation of Centella asiatica loaded nanoemulsion through porcine abdominal skin was estimated using the Franz diffusion cell. A significant increase in permeability parameters was observed in nanoemulsion formulations (P<0.05) as compared to an...

Introduction: Oral carcinoma is amongst the leading malignancies worldwide, with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) as the most common type accounting for over 90% of cases. In OSCC, MMPs, (MMP9) which belongs to gelatinase group, promote tumor progression by new blood vessel formation, disturbing tissue morphology which allows tumor growth breaks the basement membrane and enables metastasis and it’s overexpression in OSCC have prognostic value. Aims and Objectives: To evaluate the expression of MMP 9 in different grades of OSCC. Material and Methods: In this prospective study, a total number of 30 blocks specimens; 10 of each well, moderately, poorly differentiated were stained with MMP9 antibodies and compared with normal oral mucosa. All the data were documented and analyzed with SPSS 20 version software. Results: Normal 10 tissues with a mean age of 31.30 years and 30 OSCC patients of 51.93 years mean age were studied. In OSCC, 18 male (60%) and 12 female (40%) were participated. Among them, 8% smoking, 15% chewing and 7% both habits were revealed. With...
