TAT (Trans-activator-Transcription Protein) is a viral protein encoded by the TAT gene in HIV-1-which is a lethal subtype of HIV (Human immunodeficiency Virus). It is vital for transcription of the viral genome. Previous studies show that in Human, TAT is a toxin-producing protein allowing cell death in obtained from QSAR studies, best quassinoid compounds were used to find the highest binding affinity compound by performing normal T-cells. Thereafter allows for progression towards AIDS (Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). Traditionally, herbal medicines have played a vital role in the treatment of many diseases and ailments. Likewise, Quassinoids from the plant family Simaroubacaea, possess insecticidal, antimalarial and anticancer properties. Although studies have been conducted to find anti-HIV activities against other HIV-1 proteins, there are no traces of studies against Trans-activator-Transcription protein (1JFW). The main objective of this study is to find an efficacious inhibitor against a synthetic HIV TAT protein (PDB- IJFW). After a thorough literature survey, the molecular and biological activity of quassinoid phytoconstituents has been recorded for QSAR (Quantitative structure-activity relationship)...

Background: Lung Cancer is the commonly diagnosed neoplasm in males in India. The main histological types of lung cancer are squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, small cell carcinoma and large cell carcinoma. However, histological types may vary with the changes in geographical region, smoking status and other social factors. This study aimed to find out the relationship of smoking and histological types of lung cancer. Methods: We performed a prospective observational analysis of 238 histopathologically proven cases of lung cancer in Malappuram district of Kerala during the period of 2017 and 2018. Results: A total of 238 patients involved, 82.77% were males and the male to female ratio was 4.8:1. Of the 238 patients, 166 patients (69.75%) had history of smoking in their life time and 72 patients (30.25%) were non-smokers. In males, majority of patients were smokers (83.25%) and in female patients, 39 (95.12%) were non-smokers. Among Smokers, squamous cell carcinoma (63.25%) is the most common histological type followed by adenocarcinoma (22.89%). In case of non-smokers, the status is...

Sufoof – e -Hazim (SEH), Unani formulation with high therapeutic efficacy, has been reported to cure indigestion and flatulence. The formulation is available with different manufacturers but scientific data on its pharmacognosy is lacking. Hence, the current research work is an attempt to standardize the formulation and establish quality control parameters in terms of its phytochemical and chromatographic evaluation. SEH was prepared as per National Formulary of Unani Medicine (NFUM). As a rapid method for detection of adulteration, powder microscopy was carried out for the formulation along with its individual ingredients in order to locate persistant and discernable characters belonging to the individual ingredients from the formulation. Phytochemical evaluation was carried out along with estimation of reducing sugars and crude fibre content in the formulation. Further, a simple, rapid, accurate and sensitive HPTLC method was developed for the simultaneous estimation of pharmacologically active markers, betasitosterol and lupeol. The method was validated as per ICH guidelines for the parameters such as linearity, intra and interday precision, accuracy, recovery etc. The...

Introduction: Monitoring and assessment of the medication errors in hospitals can help in reducing the medical treatment costs and minimizing the risk of harm to the patients. This study aims to determine the frequency and types of medication errors and to assess the consequences of the errors which occurred. Materials and Methods: A prospective, cross- sectional study was conducted in the ICU and medicine wards at a tertiary care hospital, India. The in-patient’s case sheets were reviewed on a daily basis, and were evaluated to find out any suspected medication errors. Results: During the study period of 6 months, 700 prescriptions were analysed for medication errors. Among them, 300 medication errors were identified, out of which (52.33%) were prescribing errors, (41.66%) were administration errors, (4.66%) were monitoring errors and (1.33%) were dispensing errors. Incomplete prescriptions (55.41%), documentation errors (43.2%), omission errors (19.2%) and wrong time administration of medicine (13.6%) were the common types of medication errors. Of the total errors (80.33%), had the potential to cause harm, (16.33%) caused...

The aim of the study was synthesis and characterization of 2-phenyl-1-benzopyran-4-one as a potential myeloperoxidase inhibitor. The oxidative stress was related to the generation of Reactive oxygen species (ROS), which is responsible for the enhancement of several degenerative diseases, such as osteoarthritis, cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, etc. Due to this fact, the study was targeted for the development of myeloperoxidase inhibitor for overcoming the oxidative stress. The molecular docking analysis were afforded that the titled compounds posses noteworthy potency against myeloperoxidase (PDB ID: 1DNU). The docking simulation of twenty hybrid of flavone showed the better binding score ranging between -6.66 to -8.56 kcal/mol. Based on the result, the synthesised compounds were screened for the evaluation of various in-vitro antioxidant studies. In which, the hydroxyl substituted flavones (HF1-HF8) were posses significant IC50 values compared with their respective standards due to their electron donating property over the radical responsible for oxidative stress. The docking score and in-vitro study of antioxidant activity were well correlated, which confirmed the antioxidant property of titled...
