Naturally occurring non-starch polysaccharides are known for their therapeutic value. This paper describes isolation, characterization and evaluation of glucose lowering potential of one such plant polysaccharide isolated from the leaves of the plant Vitex negundo. It was isolated and characterized using various analytical techniques and biochemical tests which confirmed the presence of carbohydrates and elements such as C, H and O. It demonstrated a reduction in glucose concentration in-vitro, however non-significant in comparison to standards. In-vivo, it was given per orally in fasting male C57 mice at 10, 30 and 100 mg/kg single dose post 30 min of which serum glucose was recorded. Glucose load was given 30 min after administering crude polysaccharide after which serum glucose concentrations were estimated at 15, 30, 60 and 120 min. Obtained results suggest a non-significant reduction in AUC as well as individual glucose levels at all the time points in crude polysaccharide treated animals in comparison to vehicle control in fasting as well as glucose loaded conditions. Thus, the crude polysaccharide isolated...

The study carried out to find the effect of Aloe vera extract on the toxicity induced by INH – RIF in male Wistar albino rats. We have perform the experiments on rats for 30 days and found the effect on histological alternations of liver by two different method. Firstly, by Compound microscopy and the same tissues were further process through SEM microscopy. We have found the effect of Aloe vera extract and isoniazid and rifampicin on histological architecture of liver. We found that there is partial restoration of hepatic function as evident from normalization of serum markers of liver function, and we were able to show hepatoprotection against INH+RIF induced hepatotoxicity, as evidenced by the partial reversal of increased serum transaminases showed trend towards returning to normal (but partially) by supplementation of Aloe vera indicating partial hepatoprotective effect. Co-administration of Aloe vera extract along with anti-tuberculosis drugs showed hepatoprotection in some extent against INH-RIF...

Background: Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women worldwide, with over 90% of cases the occurring in developing countries. India attributes to about 15% of the cancer deaths in the world mostly in rural areas. This dangerous disease can be effectively prevented by creating awareness programs and the possibility of effective management with early screening. Methodology: A prospective questionnaire-based survey was conducted among women for a period of six months i.e., from 1st January 2016 – 30th June 2016. Results: Most of the study populations were students. Among them women were 353. Majority of the women 305(86%) have not attended screening stating few reasons. Among the 48 women who attended the screening, 23(47.9%) were identified with various symptoms and are on treatment. Out of these, 3 members were diagnosed with carcinoma of the cervix. Barriers such as a low economy, cultural inheritances, lack of awareness, lack of females in the testing centres etc., were identified. Conclusion: All the health care providers and primary health care centres...

The objective of the study was to assess the effect of Pharmaceutical care training on Knowledge, Attitude and Practices of Pharmacists from various settings. In this prospective interventional study, a validated Knowledge, Attitude and Practice questionnaire was administered, before and after an educational training to the pharmacists belonging to hospital, community and corporate settings of Pune district of Maharashtra. The Post-training impact on knowledge, attitude and practices was assessed by administering the same questionnaire after 3 months to the same set of pharmacists. The results were analyzed using paired ‘t’ test and simple descriptive analysis. A total of 446 pharmacists were enrolled in the study. In the post-educational intervention, the overall Knowledge scores of participants were found to have significantly increased from 177.40 ± 59.62 to 325.8 ± 76.11; a mean score with value of p= 0.0089, a significant improvement in Attitude from 302.40 ± 82.80 to 409.80 ± 22.90; a mean score with value of p = 0.0234 and improvement in Practice component was from 149.20 ± 53.03...

A simple, selective, ingenuous, reasonable, speedy, Reverse Phase High Performance Liquid Chromatography (RP-HPLC) was developed for simultaneous estimation of neomycin and fluocinolone in its tablet dosage form. The separation was eluted using a mobile phase of buffer and methanol in the proportion of 50:50 a pumped at a flow rate of 1 ml/min besides 250 nm as a UV detection wavelength. The stationary phase used was column discovery 250 × 4.6 mm, 5m. The drug samples were eluted at a retention time of neomycin 2.403 min and fluocinolone 3.303 min. The proposed analysis was developed and validated based on ICH guidelines by taking into account the parameters such as precision, accuracy, linearity, specificity, robustness, limit of detection, limit of quantification and degradation studies. The developed RP-HPLC method proved to be stability indicating by the resolution of samples with their forced degradation studies. The designed method used for routine analysis of neomycin and fluocinolone in combined dosage form. For peak detection and purity confirmation PDA was used as a...
