In the present investigation, sequentially extracted plant samples from T. catappa in water, methanol, ethanol and hexane were evaluated for COX-2 inhibitory activity. The in-vitro anti-inflammatory activity of selected samples showing promising COX-2 inhibition assessed using thermally induced protein denaturation assay. A total of nineteen compounds belonging to various phytochemical classes from T. catappa were selected (as initial hits) and screened against COX-2 enzyme using docking and drug-likeness/ADMET studies. From our studies, sixteen phytochemicals were identified as notable antiinflammatory agents (best hit molecules) with promising inhibitory effects effective against COX-2 enzyme. These compounds are namely, arjunolic acid, betulinic acid, ellagic acid, oleanolic acid, kaempferol, quercitin, leucocyanidin, gallic acid, arachidic acid, palmitic and stearic acid.On the basis of drug likeliness and binding studies of protein-ligand intercations. oleanolic acid, betulinic acid, ellagic acid, quercetin and ursolic acid were found to be the most potent (in-silico) COX-2 inhibitors. A validated rapid HPLC method was employed for the identification and quantification of phenols and flavonoid in plant sample. The present investigation can be directed towards further experimental studies in...

We evaluated the antidyslipidemic activity of extract of Pterocarpus marsupium (PM: Vijayasar) in adult Charles Foster rats of both sexes and compared this activity with that that of Atorvastatin (Atorva). 4 groups were made [Gp 1- Control group (no drug), only high fat diet (HFD); Gp 2- HFD +PM (to evaluate the role of PM in the prevention of dyslipidemia); Gps 3 & 4- only HFD]. This was the phase of disease production [for 7 weeks] and preventive role of PM was also evaluated concurrently. Then, therapy phase started for next 90 days [Gp 1- Control group (no drug). Only HFD; Gp 3- HFD+ Atorva; Gp 4- HFD+ PM]. TC (total cholesterol), TG (triglycerides), LDL (low density lipoproteins) and HDL (high density lipoproteins) levels were tested. During both the phases (prevention and therapy), PM brought significant improvements in all these parameters. Therefore, Pterocarpus marsupium, as an economical herbal therapeutic approach; presents a cost-effective, secure and efficacious means to address significant public health issues; such as dyslipidaemia, coronary artery disease...

The metal nanoparticles have attention among researchers who wish to use them for development of new generation antimicrobial compounds. Silver nanoparticles are one of the widely used nanoparticles due to their antimicrobial properties. The present work deals with the Eco-friendly green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using leaf extract of Plumbago zeylanica, Characterization and their biological applications. The synthesized silver nanoparticles characterized using techniques such as UV-visible spectrophotometry to determine the presence of silver nanoparticles, a peak at 420nm was obtained and scanning electron microscopy to determine its size and shape, it confirmed the shape of the nanoparticles are spherical. The synthesized AgNPs were tested for antibacterial, antifungal and larvicidal activities. The AgNPs showed significant biological properties. The results of this work suggest that the silver nanoparticles synthesized from the leaf extract of Plumbago zeylanica possess antibacterial activity on both gram-positive (S. aureus) and gram-negative (E. coli) bacterial strains, antifungal activity on Aspergillus niger and Larvicidal activity against Culicidae Larvae. In conclusion, the green synthesized AgNPs proved to be an...

The current investigation’s goal is to prepare polyherbal cream by using plant extracts of Terminalia chebula, Sapindus trifoliatus, Psoralea corylifolia and carry out high-performance thin layer chromatography fingerprinting to confirm that the corresponding extracts utilized as standards contain the active ingredients. Cream of plant extract prepared by using fusion method and the prepared cream formulation was examined qualitatively in order to determine whether any active phytoconstituents were present and its anti-psoriatic activity. Thus, high-performance thin layer chromatography fingerprinting emerged as crucial instrument for identification, subjective analysis, a phytochemical evaluation of polyherbal cream of Terminalia chebula, Sapindus trifoliatus, Psoralea corylifolia seed extracts. Prepared polyherbal cream characterised by different parameters including irritancy test, wash ability test, phase separation and spreadability. The present study concluded that the High-performance thin layer chromatography studies showed presence of β-sitosterol and psoralen in prepared polyherbal cream. Prepared herbal cream showed the most promising anti-psoriatic effect. Active constituents responsible for treating psoriasis were present in the obtained polyherbal...

Background: Tragia involucrata Linn., leaves are traditionally used for the treatment of liver disorders, eczema, viral infections, headache, respiratory infections, etc. There is lack of documentation of safety data and non-availability of quality control standards for the ayurvedic traditional medicines. Aim & Objective: The aim of the study was designed to determine the pharmacognostic, phytochemical and physico-chemical standardization of leaves of Tragia involucrata Linn. Materials & Methods: The Pharmacognostical parameters such as organoleptic evaluation (macroscopy) and microscopy (T.S of Leaf) were done to identify the morphological and anatomical structures. For powder microscopy, coarse powder is treated with routine reagents to identify the diagnostic features of the plant. Preliminary phytochemical screening, physicochemical parameters was determined as per the prescribed guidelines and fluorescent behaviour of coarse leaf powder was also determined. These parameters are useful tools to differentiate the powdered drug material from the adulterated ones. Results: The macroscopical characters such as colour, shape, size, odour and surface characteristics were observed. Transverse section of leaf and powder microscopy revealed the presence...
