To evaluate a meticulous pharmacognostic cram of Cayratia pedata (Lam.) Gagnep. var. glabra Gamble (Vitaceae), an important endemic and endangered medicinal plant in Thiashola, Manjoor. The study genus is used in the Siddha, Ayurveda and Folk medicine for treating diarrhoea, refrigerant, hysteria, astringent and ulcers. However, the detailed scientific information of Cayratia pedata var. glabra is not available to identify the plant material and to ascertain its quality and purity. The plant C. pedata var. glabra is an herbaceous, large, fragile climber grows up to a height of 8-12 m with nodes and internodes. In present communication, morphology, anatomical and physico-chemical characters along with phytochemical screening and fluorescence analysis of powdered crude drug were carried out for systemic identification and authentication of aerial plant parts. This study provides referential information for identification and characterization of C. pedata var. glabra and its...

The present study was designed to investigate the hypolipidemic activity of the methanolic leaf extract of Lagerstroemia speciosa Linn. Plant extract was tested in fat diet induced hyperlipidemic rat models. Methanolic extracts of leaves of Lagerstroemia speciosa Linn. were administered in doses of 250mg/kg and 500mg/kg/day for one week. The obtained results reveal that methanolic leaf extract (LMLS & HMLS) of Lagerstroemia speciosa Linn. showed significant antihyperlipidemic...

An herbal formulation composed of Allium cepa (Onion), Zingiber officinale (Ginger), Allium sativum (Garlic), Aloe vera, Andrographis paniculata (King of bitters), Allium ascalonicum (Shallot), reportedly used as anti–inflammatory agent was investigated. This study evaluated the physicochemical, phytochemical properties and in vivo anti–inflammatory effect of the herbal formulation. The herbal formulation (Hp-01) was subjected to physicochemical analysis; visual and organoleptic test, thin layer chromatography (TLC), pH, trace elements, phytochemical screening, antioxidant activity using DPPH inhibition and total phenolic acid (TPA) content determination. The biological effect at three doses (half, normal and double) on acute inflammation using carrageenan-induced paw oedema, weight, haematological parameters and liver functions were investigated in Wistar rats. The herbal formulation (Hp-01) was an acidic (pH 3.18), bitter preparation with pungent odour and sediments. The TLC analysis showed a maximum of three spots. Trace elements content of Pb, Cd, Fe, and Zn were within acceptable limits at 0.053, 0.003, 1.190 and 4.190 mg/l respectively. Phytochemical screening showed the presence of anthraquinones, tannins, terpenoids, saponins (2.12%w/w), alkaloids (2.45%w/w) and...

The present study was Rifampicin-resistant (Rif r) mutants of Pseudomonas fluorescens pf2T2 and pf2m1 were isolated from different localities of onion plant rhizosphere soil in an around the Tamil Nadu. However, the mutants of P. fluorescens were of two general categories. Group 1 showed fast growing in terms of growth rate, competitive fitness, and membrane protein composition. Group 2 showed a slower growth rate in both minimal and enriched media and an altered membrane protein profile. These mutants also demonstrated decreased competitive fitness compared with the wild-type strain based on the study of colony morphology, soil characters, different temperature, pH, NaCl (salt tolerant), and gram staining has been done. Although, the Rifampicin – resistant (Rif r) mutants of Pseudomonas fluorescens pf2T2 and pf2m1 were distinctly in the...

Pyrazoline are reduction product of pyrazole. They are well known nitrogen containg 5-memberd heterocyclic compound with broad spectrum of biological activities such as antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, analgesic, anticonvulsant, anthelmintic, antioxidant and herbicidal. Pyrazoline derivatives have been synthesized from intermediate chalcone. Pyrazoles have been the recent target of numerous methodologies, mostly due to their prevalence as scaffolds in synthesis of bioactive compounds and reactions in different media. Fish are the widely used vertebrate organism in risk assessment and regulation. Out of them adult zebrafish and zebrafish embryo has a special characteristic which permits its use as a model organism in toxicological and pharmacological studies. Zebra fish known as a Danio rerio have risen as effective and powerful models for studying developmental processes and human disorders. Recently the zebrafish based assays have been developed for testing toxicity of drug candidates, including acute toxicity (LC50), organ specific toxicity and developmental toxicity. In present article the toxicity of newly synthesized pyrazoline derivatives has been studied on adult zebrafish and zebrafish embryos according to...
