Background: Advancement in pharmacotherapy leading the new drug discovery for the clinical problem, as well as it’s also exploring the clinical applications and Drug-Related Problem (DRP). DRP is an event or circumstances, which involving drug treatment that interfere or potentially interferes with patient achieving an optimum outcome of medical care. DRP cause significant morbidity and mortality in health care. Method: A prospective, observational study conducted was performed on 120 patients. Patient age more than 18 years of either gender and diagnosed with the psychiatry disorder were enrolled in the study. Result: Total 120 patients were enrolled and five type of DRPs were obtained during the study, ADR 24 (44.4%), drug-drug interaction 6 (11.1%), overdose 12 (22.2%), sub-therapeutic dose 6 (11.1%), failure to receive drug 6 (11.1%). Out of 103 Interventions, 54 (52.4%) suggested recommendation were accepted by the psychiatrists. Conclusion: The overall study suggested that the clinical pharmacist has a huge scope and it is an integral part of the health care team. The clinical pharmacist has greater responsibility...

DNA barcoding is currently gaining popularity due to its simplicity and high accuracy as compared to the complexity and subjective biases associated with morphology-based identification of taxa. The standard chloroplast DNA barcode for land plants is normally recommended by the Consortium for the Barcode of Life (CBOL) plant working group that needs to be evaluated for a wide range of plant species. In Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh state, there are many natural and manmade seasonal wetlands that serve as important gateways for the migratory waterfowl. Hence these wetlands contribute significantly towards balancing of ecosystem. Many researchers had identified plant species of these wetlands by traditional methods but the aspect of identification of plants through barcoding has largely been ignored. We therefore, tested the potential of the rbcL marker for the identification of Mangrove plants belonging to two families of some wetlands of Visakhapatnam. This had been carried out by rbcL gene as the standard plant barcode Maximum likelihood tree analysis was also performed to evaluate the discriminatory power...

A simple and fast isocratic reverse phase- high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) method was developed for estimation of iloperidone from rat plasma employing a photo diode array (PDA) detector. The plasma samples were prepared by protein precipitation using acetonitrile as extracting solvent. The chromatographic separation was performed on a BDS Hypersil Phenyl column (250 mm × 4.6 mm; 5 μm) using a mixture of 0.01 M sodium dihydrogen phosphate buffer (pH 6.0) and acetonitrile (60:40, v/v) as mobile phase with a flow rate of 1.5 ml/min, retention time 7.04 min, and detection wavelength 276 nm. The method was validated for linearity, sensitivity, selectivity, accuracy, precision, and stability according to USFDA guidelines. The calibration curve exhibited linearity in the concentration range of 50–1000 ng/ml (r2=0.998) and the lower limit of quantification (LLOQ) and limit of detection (LOD) of the method were 50 ng/ml and 30 ng/ml respectively. The chromatographic runs were selective without any interfering peaks at the retention time of iloperidone. The accuracy and precision of the method were within USFDA specified range. The plasma samples...

The World Health Organization 2015 (WHO) reports indicate that there were 9.0 million new tuberculosis (TB) cases and 1.5 million tuberculosis (TB) deaths during 2015. Co-infection with the HIV fuels the global TB crisis, and successful TB treatment is further complicated and hampered by the existence of multidrug- resistant (MDR) TB and extensively drug resistant (XDR) TB. Hence there is an urgent need for newer anti tubercular agents. Heterocyclic moieties possess profound biological activities including anti inflammatory, antitumour, antitubercular activity. The Benzothiazole nucleous and the thiophene nucleous exhibit profound pharmacological activity and so series of 2-amino thiophene derivatives were designed and docked against the enzyme glutamine synthetase-1 (PDB-ID- 4ACF) which plays an important role in the metabolism of nitrogen. Similarly, a series of Schiff bases with benzothiazole scaffolds were designed and docked against cyclopropanemycolic acid synthase-2 (PDB-ID-1KPI), the enzyme specific for synthesis of cell wall of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Based on the docking score, interactions and docking pose molecules were screened and the selected compounds were synthesized. The synthesized compounds...

Different plants of the Apocynaceae family viz. Alstonia scholaris, Calotropis procera, Rauvolfia serpentine, Hemidesmus indicus and Calotropis gigantean are traditionally being reported in ulcers treatments. The present study was aimed to validate the authenticity of correlationship of various phytoconstituents concentrations, antioxidant activity and urease inhibitory potential of the same. Various methods of antioxidant potential possess variable modes of deactivation of free radicals. Plants possess myriad of chemical entities, an effort has been made to assign antioxidant and urease inhibitory putativity to various classes of compounds. The Flavonoid content seemed significant for antioxidant as well urease inhibitory potential. Calotropis procera and Calotropis gigantean possessed 104.11mgRU/g and 97.34mgRU/g of flavonoids. The two exhibited 39% and 40% urease inhibitory potential respectively. The ferric reducing power and the β- carotene bleaching tendency were highest in both species of Calotropis genus. Pearson’s correlation coefficient between total flavonoids-urease inhibitory percentage, β-carotene bleaching – flavonoids and FRAP – flavonoids content was significant. So the plants of Calotropis genus have good potential for the management of ulcers,...
