The aim of this research was to formulate and evaluate microspheres of Fluoxetine Hydrochloride. It is a selective inhibitor of serotonin reuptake type of drug used in the treatment of depression. It is practically soluble in water belongs to BCS class I with a bioavailability approximately 72%. Fluoxetine HCl mucoadhesive microspheres were prepared by using chitosan polymer and emulsion solvent evaporation method which enhance bioavailability of drug. Microsphere with particle size in the range 192.92µm to 251.18µm was prepared. Fluoxetine HCl microspheres were evaluated for mean particle size, the percentage yield, entrapment efficiencies, in-vitro release, in vitro mucoadhesive, FTIR, DSC, X-ray diffraction studies and stability study. Formulation F9 microspheres batch was found to be optimized and followed zero-order release kinetic. The optimized formulation was mucoadhesive in nature. Background: Understanding the association of risk factors to adverse drug reactions is very important to all healthcare professionals for the development of appropriate preventive strategies for better health care. Objectives: To identify and evaluate the risk factors associated with adverse drug reactions developed in the hospitalized patients of different departments. Methods: A prospective-retrospective study was conducted in a tertiary care hospital for a period of twenty two months, with a specific criterion. Multiple logistic regression analysis was used. Risk factors included provisional diagnoses, suspected drugs which were classified according to ICD-10 classification and therapeutic classification respectively and also subjects’ age groups and gender were included. Results: A total of 204 cases’ were identified with adverse drug reactions during the period of study for which 1:1 ratio of controls were taken. Chenopodium album (sub sp. striatum) is a folk and nutritious medicine belongs to Chenopodiaceae family and widely used as antimicrobial agent. The aim of this study is to evaluate the in vitro antibacterial potential against multidrug-resistance (MDR) bacteria isolated from clinical spicemens, antioxidant activity, total phenolic and total flavonoids content of crude ethanolic extract and nine different fractions of C. album (sub sp. striatum). The in vitro antibacterial activity was evaluate against eight multidrug-resistant bacteria based on minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC), agar well and disk diffusion methods. Antioxidant property was evaluated by 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl radical scavenging activity. The total phenol contents were measured by Folin-Ciocalteu and AlCl3 assays. Our results showed that MeOH: H2O with 80:20 ratio (most polar) fraction had the highest antimicrobial effect on eight multidrug-resistant bacteria (MIC: 0.15-2.5 mg/ml, MBC: 0.31-5 mg/ml and had highest inhibitation zones (well: 24.33±0.57 mm and disk: 26.33±1.53 mm). Periodontal dressings were widely used after flap surgery to protect the surgical site since long. This study compared polyether urethane dimethacrylate resin based Barricaid dressing and non-eugenol based periodontal dressings in the perspective of pain, esthetics and patient acceptance using a randomized split-mouth study design. Fifteen patients coming to the Department of Periodontics at ITS Dental College and diagnosed as a case of generalized chronic periodontitis were selected. Total 30sites (2 sites in each patient) requiring the flap surgery were selected and contralateral sites in each patient were randomly allocated into two groups.
