Synthesis of new organometallic Schiff bases complexes with general formula [ML)xH2O] [where M = Mn(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) Pd(II) and Pt(II), L=2,2′-{(1R,1′S)-1,1’Ferrocen-2,4-dien-1-yl-2,2′-diyl bis [(Z)methyl-ylidenenitrilo]}bis(3-iodophenol)] have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, Conductivity IR, UV-Visible, Mass spectra and TGA/DTA. Organometallic Schiff base is tetradentate and co-ordination through nitrogen of azomethine (>C=N-) and oxygen of Hydroxyl group. The complexes have octahedral geometry with six coordination number. Electronic spectra of the complexes were recorded and its parameters like Nephelauxetic effect (β), bonding parameter (b1/2) and Sinha’s parameter (δ %) are calculated. TGA and DTA results of [Pt (C24H16 FeI2N2O2).2H2O] and [Pd (C24H16 FeI2N2O2).2H2O] are reported, Complexes were losing weight due to exothermic and endothermic process. A new series of Cu(II), Zn(II) and Co(II) complexes have been synthesized from 6-Methoxy-3-phenyliminomethyl-chromen-4-one, a Schiff base derived from 6-Methoxy-4-oxo-4H-chromene-3-carbaldehyde and aniline. The nature of bonding and the structure of the complexes have been deduced from IR, UV, 1H NMR spectroscopy. The aim of the present study is to screen the phytochemicals present in the leaf extract of Kandelia candel and further analysis of the bioactive components present in it by Gas chromatography – Mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. Carbohydrates, proteins, amino acids, Saponins, flavonoids, terpenoids, glycosides, tannins, alkaloids, and phenols were present in the sample. The percentage yield of plant extract is high in ethanol extract and is 7.02%. Nyctanthes arbor-tristis (Paarijaat) is one of the important plants used in traditional medicines, mainly known for the medicinal properties of its flower and leaf. In this study, the four plant parts of Nyctanthes arbor-tristis were extracted sequentially with four solvents of decreasing polarity and investigated for antioxidant potential. The highest phenolic content was observed with flower, followed by stem, primarily by aqueous and methanolic extracts. The methanol and ethyl acetate extracts from all four plant parts showed decent antioxidant activities against DPPH free radicals, with methanolic extract of N. arbor-tristis stem showed activity as 86.9%, higher than the positive control. All the ethyl acetate extracts showed moderate to good activity (50-65%), showing that all the four plant parts have decent antioxidant potential. Further, the scavenging of the peroxide free radicals, produced during lipid per oxidation was also investigated.
