The complexes of chromium(III) are synthesised with thiosemicarbazone (L1&L3) and semicarbazone (L2) derived from 2-benzoylpyridine and 2-benzoylthiophene having general composition [CrL2X2]X (Where L=L1&L3(L1&L3= thiosemicarbazone ligand and L2= semicarbazone ligand) and X= NO3– and OAc–) have been synthesised. The complexes and ligand under study are characterised by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, mass spectra, conductivity measurement, magnetic susceptibility, EPR spectral studies and NMR Spectroscopy. IR spectral study indicates that ligands behaves as bidentate and coordinated to metal ion through nitrogen, sulphur / oxygen donor atoms. The molar conductance was measured by using DMSO as solvent. The higher value of molar conductance suggests that the complexes are 1:1 electrolyte in nature. The value of magnetic susceptibility indicates that complexes are of high spin. On the basis of above spectral studies an octahedral geometry may be proposed for all the...

The present work aimed to explore in vivo the effect of Helix Aspersa Crude Extract (HACE) on the chemo-induced damages occurred in rat colon specially on the histology of the crypts foci in liberkhun glands. The toxicity of HACE was evaluated with different HACE concentrations. With the concentration of 160 mg, animals showed the best gain weight, stayed normal and all animals survived. Therefore, this concentration (5g/kg of body weight) was chosen for the rest of the experiences. 30 males rats used in our experiment were divided in 5 groups and colitis was induced by transrectal administration of 4% acetic acid. At the end of experiments, blood was collected for Biochemical assessments including aspartat aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotarnsferase (ALT), gamma glutamyltarnsferase (GGT). Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARs) and CRP measurements were also registered. Colon was examined macroscopically and microscopically after standard hematoxylin-eosin staining. We sought the changes in the crypt foci (CF) structure of the Lieberkuhn glands because foci damages were regarded as precursor lesions of colo-rectal cancer in...

A series of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylic acid) (P(NIPAM-co-AA)) nanoparticles with different contents of acrylic acid were synthesized via free radical polymerization route. Their pH- and thermo-responsive behaviors were investigated using 1H-NMR, FT-IR and SEM, dynamic light scattering, scanning calorimeter and zeta potential measurements. The results elucidated that the P(NIPAM-co-AA) exhibited dual stimuli performances both pH- and temperature- response, showing more sensitive than the pure poly(N-isopropylacrylamide). Their swollen/shrunken behaviors were strongly dependent on the various parameters, including content of acrylic acid monomers, pH value of solution, temperature and salt concentration. Particularly, the electrical repulsive force, surface charge distribution and hydrogen bonding were thought to determine their sensitive properties. Salt effect showed more obvious at high pH than that at low pH, leading to a significant change of particle size distribution and Zeta potential. In addition, the P(NIPAM-co-AA) as matrix loaded-ibuprofen delivery in vitro was also evaluated, exhibiting a faster release rate at pH 7.4 than that at pH 2.0, while the accumulative release amount was larger at 37 ºC than that at...

In the present study, a series of novel biologically active 8-benzylidene-6-tert-butyl-4-phenyl- 5, 6, 7, 8-tetrahydro-benzo-1, 3-thiazin – 2 -imines (TB1-TB12) were synthesized and evaluated for their biological activities. Initially, 2,6-dibenzylidene-4-tert-butylcyclohexanones were synthesized by Claisen-Schmidt condensation of 4-tert-butylcyclohexanone with various aromatic aldehydes in the presence of dilute sodium hydroxide. Further these compounds were subjected to cyclocondensation with thiourea, in isopropyl alcohol, catalyzed by aqueous potassium hydroxide to form 4-aryl-8-arylidene-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-1H-benzo[d][1,3]thiazin-2(4H)-imines (TB1-TB12). The structures of the newly synthesized compounds have been established on the basis of their spectral data and elemental analysis. Anticonvulsant activity was performed by Maximal electroshocks (MES) method by using Diazepam as standard reference. These compounds were subjected to molecular properties prediction, drug-likeness, lipophilicity and solubility parameters determination using Molinspiration, Osiris program was used for prediction of the toxicity, and also Molsoft and ALOGPS 2.1 softwares. Among all compounds TB5 and TB8 containing lipophilic methoxyl and isopropyl group were more potent whereas TB12 containing hydroxyl groups were least potent among the...

Pharmacological activities have been reported for the fruit, leaf and root extracts of Morinda citrifolia L. (Noni); however, the plant has not been widely studied for its antidyslipidemic effects on obesity and metabolic syndrome (MS). Objective: to evaluate the effects of aqueous M. citrifolia leaf extract on obesity and adipose tissue cell dynamics associated with triacylglycerol and adiponectin levels in Wistar rats with MS. Methodology: four groups of rats were used; control, metabolic syndrome (MS), M. citrifolia (Mc) and M. citrifolia plus sucrose (Mc-Suc). The dose of extract was 200 mg/kg of body weight for 2 weeks. Results: we observed differences in the weights of abdominal fat between the Mc and MS groups. The Mc-Suc and Mc groups showed significantly lower triacylglycerol concentrations than the MS group. Moreover, the adiponectin serum concentrations were higher in control, Mc-Suc and Mc groups than in the MS group. Finally, the MS group showed an increase in the percentage of fat cells with areas between 1001 and 1501 µm2 compared with the Mc...
