Introduction: Nephrotic syndrome is the most common chronic glomerular diseases in children. The most common infection in children with nephrotic syndrome is urinary tract infection. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of urinary tract infection in children with nephrotic syndrome and to prepare and submit an appropriate protocol regarding the necessity and method of UTI examination on these children. Materials and Methods: The population in this descriptive study included children aged six months to 14 years old with nephrotic syndrome referred to pediatric ward in Imam Ali (AS) Hospital in Zahedan in Iran during 2015. To collect and record the required data, a questionnaire was used that included questions about the past history, reason for referral, and medical tests of the patients. The collected data were entered into SPSS software. Results: The subjects were 124 children with nephrotic syndrome (71 males and 53 females) with a mean age of 6.21 3.1 years (at least 6 months and at most 14 years) were examined. Prevalence of...

The aim of present work was to prepare Diltiazem HCl Fast Dissolving tablets by Direct compression method because of their convenience in administration and suitability for patients having dysphagia using Co-processed excipients-Disintequik MCC25, Disintequik MCC, Lubritose MCC, Lubritose SD, Lubritose AN, NF Fast flow Lactose Monohydrate modified spray dried. The Prepared powdered blend and tablets were evaluated for Pre compression parameters such as Angle of repose, Bulk density, Tapped density, Compressibility index, Hausners ratio and Post compression parameters such as weight variation, thickness, hardness, disintegration time, content uniformity, in-vitro dissolution studies and stability studies. All the parameters were within the limits. IR and DSC study showed that drug and excipients were compatible with each other. Twelve formulations were prepared by direct compression method in which F10 was the best formulation using Disintequik MCC25 at a concentration of 4% as it was disintegrated with in 30 sec and drug release was 99.88% over a period of 15 min. The wetting time and disintegration time decreases considerably with the increase in...

There has been a significant increase in the generation of MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) in India over the last few decades. The degradation of persistent organic pollutant using advanced oxidation processes with sunlight as energy source have a great advantage at lower costs. Pallikaranai wetland is a freshwater marsh in the city of Chennai, India. Pallikaranai marshland is the only surviving wetland ecosystem of the city and is among the few and last remaining natural wetlands of South India. MSW generated in Pallikaranai, Chennai includes 80% of residential waste, 17% of commercial waste, 3% of institutional waste and 2% of industrial waste. The physical and chemical properties of the MSW generated in Chennai, showed that majority of waste composed of green waste (32.3%) and inert materials (34.7%) i.e. stones and glass. The overall aim of the work was to apply an innovative clean technology, namely photocatalytic oxidation, and demonstrate its efficiency in leachate treatment by using solar energy. The study of photo catalytic process was conducted for the removal...

The novel benzimidazole derivatives were synthesized by 2-acetyl benzimidazole consent to react with various substituted aromatic aldehyde (2a–e) to obtain preferred intermediate chalcones (3a–j), these intermediates are undergo the cyclocondensation with guanidine hydrochloride and phenyl hydrazine yielded benzimidazole derivatives (4a–j and 5a–j respectively). The synthesized compounds were analyzed spectral studies to confirm their structure and in-vitro anticancer activity was screened in MCF-7 and CaCo-2. Among them the compounds containing benzimidazole with pyrimidine moiety (4a, 4b, 4d, 4g, 4i) and compounds containing benzimidazole with pyrazole moiety (5b, 5d, 5g, 5i) showed significant activity against MCF-7 and CaCO-2 cell line. In particular compound 4a exhibited IC50 8.22μM in MCF-7 , IC50 5.67μM CaCO-2 cell line. The compound 4a induced apoptosis in Caco-2 cells as evaluated by EB/AO staining and 24 hours Caspase study revealed that compound 4a shows 2 fold activity in caspase 3 and 9 pathway, single fold activity in caspase 8 pathway, which can be regarded as promising anticancer...

Introduction: The health and wellness sector is bracing for a radical change with Information and Communication Technology taking the leading role in research and development, diagnostics, and monitoring. The consumer’s focus is shifting from treatment-based remedies to preventive remedies gradually. Aim: To explore the slow transition from curative to preventive healthcare in the prescribing behavior of physicians and the different perceptions among physicians and patients regarding Nutraceuticals. Methods: A cross-sectional study based on observation was conducted in South Delhi in India. Random sampling was used to divide the physician population into two strata namely physicians practicing in the hospitals and physicians practicing privately. The respondents were interviewed separately and the prescriptions and bills were scrutinized. Pediatricianswere excluded from the study. The data was fed into EXCEL sheet and analyzed based on percentages and proportions. Results: It was found that vitamins comprised the largest chunk with 49% prescribed in the hospitals whereas 40% prescribed in the private clinics. It is found that 40% of the physicians agreed that non-availability was...
