The literature survey on 1,2,4-Triazoles and chalcone derivatives revealed that they are endowed with wide variety of biological activities. During the present investigation newer series of chalcone derivatives S-4-(isonicotinamido)-5-(phenoxymethyl) – 4H-1,2,4 triazole-3-yl-3(-4-chlorophenyl) propanethioate (7a-7f) were synthesized by coupling suitably modified 1,2,4-Triazole nucleus with appropriate aryl aldehydes. The structures of the newly synthesized compounds were established by FTIR, 1HNMR and Mass spectral analysis. All the compounds have been evaluated for in vitro antibacterial, antifungal and antitubercular activities. The compounds exhibited weak antibacterial activity only at higher concentrations. Whereas, the antifungal activity results showed that few of the compounds were able to show moderate antifungal potency. The fungi used in the anti-microbial study were found to resistant to the other compounds. The antitubercuar activity results were encouranging as the few compounds were able to possess growth inhibiting properties against the mycobacterium tested i.e the compounds 7b, 7e and 7f possessed the MIC as low as 6.25µg/ml. Even though the compounds failed to possess anti-bacterial and antifungal activity, it is quite interesting to...

The present work was aimed to evaluate the potential protective effect of white tea’s extract against the liver injury in an experimental model of hepatotoxicity induced by HgCl2 in mice. Histopathological investigations, liver functions and flow. Cytometrical analyses were estimated. The experimental mice were divided into four groups, each of eight mice (each mouse weighed 25 – 30gm): Group 1 was served as the control group, the mice were injected i.p. with saline solution (1ml/ day). In group 2, mice were orally administered with freshly prepared aqueous. Extract of white tea (100 mg / kg / day). Mice of group 3 were i.p. injected with HgCl2 (1mg/ kg / day); The experimental periods of the mentioned three groups were lasted for fourteen days. On the other hand, mice of group 4 were injected i.p. for 14 days with HgCl2 then administered with white tea extract for another 14 days. The aspartate amino transaminase, alanine aminotransferase levels and alkaline phosphatase level are significantly lower (P<0.05) in both groups of the...

Paper presents a novel high performance liquid chromatography method development, optimization, validation and application of determining blonanserin in bulk drug, its formulation, human serum and in the presence of its degradation products. Selection of important factors which may influence separation were concluded: percentage of acetonitrile in the mobile phase, the percentage of orthophosphoric acid in aqueous phase and flow rate. Factors selected were altered in accordance to Box-Behnken design plan and investigation in factors having significant influence on separation were executed. Finally, the choicest values from solution offered of investigated factors were 43 % of acetonitrile in the mobile phase, 0.03% orthophosphoric acid in water and flowrate of 0.75 ml/min. The method validation was performed according to International Conference on Harmonisation guideline acceptance criteria for robustness, linearity, selectivity, precision and accuracy. Quantitative and qualitative system responses have not significantly affected by little variations in chromatographic parameters, which demonstrates robustness of the method. Limits of quantification and detection for blonanserin was calculated. Method shows excellent linearity, which was confirmed by...

The present investigation was under taken to evaluate the anti-asthmatic activity of ethanolic extract of Citrullus colocynthis Fruits in experimental animals. Citrullus colocynthis Fruits was evaluated for anti-histaminic activity using isolated goat tracheal chain preparation and histamine induced Bronchoconstriction in Guinea pig. Citrullus colocynthis Fruits significantly inhibited dose dependent contraction of goat tracheal chain produced by histamine and also showed significant protection by prolonging Preconvulsion dyspnea time (PCD) in guinea pigs. Thus, Citrullus colocynthis Fruits showed anti-allergic activity against histamine and hence possesses potential role in the treatment of...

Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) studies play an important role in isolation and identification of phytocompounds. Since, the chemical composition of the plants usually determines its biological activity, phytochemicals of possible pharmaceutical importance can be subjected to a detailed analysis. The present study is concerned with the GC-MS analysis of chloroform extract of the bark of Terminalia travancorensis, an evergreen tree, endemic to the Western Ghats. Reports on the benefits and or medicinal properties of T. travancorensis are rare or even absent. In this context, the present study was carried out to determine the chemical constituents of the bark by GC-MS analysis. Twenty two components were identified by GC-MS analysis in the chloroform extract. The major components detected were Friedelan-3-one (15.93%), gamma-sitosterol (10.48%), alpha -octadecene (8.54%), n-Tetracosanol-1 (8.21%), Phenol, 2,4-bis(1,1-dimethylethyl) (7.77%), 1-Nonadecene (7.49%), Heptacosanol (6.16%), 1-Heptadecene (5.25%) and stigmast-4-en-3-one (5.46 %). Friedelan-3-one, the major compound is a triterpenoid possessing antifeedant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, hepatoprotective, antimicrobial and anticandidal activities. The second major compound, gamma-sitosterol plays a vital role in the structure and...
