Ajụ mbaise polyherbal extract, widely consumed for medicinal and nutritional purposes is composed of stems, leaves, roots and barks of different plant species wrapped together in various proportions. The current study was carried out to determine the effects of orally administered ethanolic Ajụ mbaise polyherbal extract on lipid profile and blood glucose levels of alloxan-induced diabetic rats. Twenty male rats of Wistar strain were randomly assigned into four groups of five rats each, following a 7-day acclimatization. Group A served as normal control, Group B as diabetic control, while Groups C and D were diabetic and orally administered with 200 and 400 mg/kg body weight of Ajụ mbaise polyherbal extract respectively. Extract administration lasted for fourteen days. After which, blood glucose level was checked on overnight fasted rats. Thereafter, animals were anesthetized and blood samples obtained via cardiac puncture were used for biochemical estimation of the lipid profile. Two weeks post extract administration, the blood glucose level was significantly increased (P < 0.05) in the diabetic non-treated group, while...

A precise, accurate, robust method was developed for quantitative estimation of related impurities of Metformin HCL and Vildagliptin from combination tablet dosage form. The mixture of ammonium dihydrogen orthophosphate and octane sulfonic acid sodium salt buffer at pH 4 was used as mobile phase A and mixture of methanol and buffer in the ratio of95:5 used as a mobile phase B. The mobile phase was pumped at 0.8 ml/minutes flow rate through BDS Hypersil C8, 250 x 4.6 mm, 5µ, HPLC column operated at 35°C. All the solutions were injected at 10µl injection volume, and the chromatograms were monitored at 210 nm based on optimum response of impurities and analytes. The % recovery of Metformin HCL, was found 90.4, 92.3, 99.4 and 99.2%, while for Vildagliptin was 90.5, 94.5, 99.6 and 98.3 % from LOQ, 50,100 and 150 % levels respectively. The method was found linear from LOQ to 150% with the correlation coefficients (r2) were 0.998 for Metformin HCL and Vildagliptin. No interference observed from diluent and placebo...

This study aims to evaluate the impact of a personalized DASH diet and lifestyle modifications on blood pressure levels in individuals diagnosed with stage-1 hypertension. An observational study with purposive sampling was carried out over one-year duration, specifically from April 2022 to March 2023. Data was gathered through a self-structured interview schedule questionnaire and subjected to descriptive statistical analysis. The study subjects were provided with interventions targeting lifestyle modifications and implementation of a customized DASH diet. Post-intervention changes were recorded during the follow-up 2. The paired t-test was employed to determine the significant differences in systolic and diastolic blood pressure. A total of 300 individuals diagnosed with stage-1 hypertension participated in the study, with a mean age of 47.19 (SD: 12.68). The study population consisted of 63% females (n=189) and 37% males (n=111). Results of the study revealed a significant decrease in both systolic (P<0.001) and diastolic (P<0.001) blood pressure levels among the participants who underwent a customized DASH diet and incorporated lifestyle changes into their daily routines. Furthermore,...

The present research aims to develop a transdermal Cubosomal gel formulation of Indomethacin, which would attenuate the gastrointestinal toxicities associated with oral administration and also aimed to encapsulate high drug pay load in Cubosomes for improved therapeutic efficiency. Indomethacin is an NSAID commonly recommended for the relief of pain and inflammation. Indomethacin was formulated as Cubosome to avoid the gastric irritaion. Top- down techniques were used for the preparation of cubosomes. Different formulations (F1-F6) were prepared and optimized for better performance in terms of drug content, SEM analysis, Zeta potential, entrapment efficiency and drug release. Then it is formulated into gel using carbopol as gel base. The physical parameters like appearance, pH, viscosity, spreadability, extrudability, ex-vivo drug release and in-vitro skin irritation test using HET- CAM were also evaluated. The cubosomal gel formulation (F5) was found to be clear without any aggregate indicating excellent homogeneity. The ex-vivo drug release study shows that the formulation (F5) has a good release rate. The kinetic study of the optimized formulation (F5) was...

Background: Betel nut and different variants of tobacco and smoking is hazardous causing oral and or pharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas (SCC). In Assam, “Tamol”, a raw, unprocessed betel nut is mixed with lime and betel leafis an alarming factor for oral and oropharyngeal SCC. Aim: To assess the patterns of tobacco, betel nuts and smoking causing variations in morphological differentiation of oral and oropharyngeal SCC. Methods: Morphological variations of 40 oral and oropharyngeal SCC’s were studied. A self answered predesigned questionnaire was used regarding the patterns and years of abuse of tobacco, betel nuts and smoking. Results: 90% of cases show tobacco prevalence, 90% show betel nut prevalence in the form of raw betel nut (58.3%), dried betel nut (27.8%) and betel nut in the form of panmasala/gutkha (13.9%). 50 % show smoking prevalence in the form of beed is (80%), cigarettes (10%) and weeds (10%) respectively. Among 22 cases of well differentiated SCC, 86.3%, 90.9% and 36.3% consumed tobacco, betel nuts and smoke respectively for at least 10...
