Thrombocytopenia is a common hematological finding with variable clinical expression. Low platelet count may be the initial manifestation of infections such as HIV, hepatitis, and also associated with some viral infection like dengue hemorrhagic fever, malaria, etc. In the present study, Methanol extract of Eclipta alba was evaluated at a dose of 200 mg/kg body weight for 7 days in alcohol induced thrombocytopenic model in rats. Treatment with methanol extract of Eclipta alba significantly increased the platelet count within 3-5 days of treatment and also decreased the bleeding and clotting time when compared to alcohol treated groups. Hematological studies revealed that there is an increased in Megakaryocytes number in the bone marrow and histopathalogical examination indicated that significant decrease in liver sinusoidal dilation in the extract treated rats when compared to alcohol control. Therefore, the present study demonstrates potential use of Eclipta alba as an anti-thrombocytopenic and the effect on platelet distribution might be due to the presence of antioxidant and polyphenolic...

Different herbal Plants are used globally for safe and natural source of medicine from ancient ages. Jussiaea repens L, is a medicinal herb that has been reported to have non toxic antigonadal activity, which reduced the sperm count, motility, viability and morphological alteration of spermatozoa in rats. It also alters histoarchitechture vis-à-vis functions of testicular tissues by altering the biochemical and hormonal profile. The present study was designed to evaluate whether J.repens crude aqueous extract treatment affects the histoarchitecture of epididymis and its biochemical alterations which are correlated with sperm maturation, as the relationship between spermatozoa and microenviroimient of epididymis during the sperms remain in it, is important for male fertility. Adult male albino rats were fed crude aqueous extract of Jussiaea repens at the dose of 200mg/kg b.wt /day for 28 days consecutively, which caused significant reduction in epididymal sialic acid, glycogen, phospholipid, GSH, and testosterone level. But no change in total lipid and MDA level. Histological studies of epididymis showed the epithelial lining and basement membrane was...

Lipase is an important of extracellular thermostable enzyme that has received considerable attention for potential use in the food industry. Hence to achieve large scale production of gram positive and negative organism is commercially important lipase enzyme under the fermentation. Lipases are produced by microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi. However, we have focused on bacterial microbial lipases were economically importance of several properties. The present studies of the goals of this paper were isolation and identification of lipase producing bacteria from biogas producing power plant waste volatile substances as sources. Optimization of the experimental conditions for the maximal amount of enzyme production was...

A simple, selective, rapid and economical High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) method was developed for estimation of Acyclovir in bulk and marketed formulation. Chromatographic separation and estimation was achieved in a run time of 6.482 minutes on Hemsil C18– 5U (250 × 4.6 mm, 5μm) using Acetonitrile and pH adjusted water (6.74) in the ratio of 10:90 v/v at flow rate of 0.5ml/min. UV detector set at 254nm was used for detection. The linearity range for Acyclovir was found to be 4-40 µg/ml with coefficient of linear regression greater than 0.9948. The method was validated as per International Conference on Harmonization (ICHQ2 (R1) 2005) guidelines for accuracy, precision, specificity, LOD & LOQ, linearity and robustness. The method was successfully applied for estimation of Acyclovir from bulk and marketed formulation for routine...

In the present study, Gastro retentive floating drug delivery systems (GFDDS) of sitagliptin, an anti diabetic drug, have been designed to increase the therapeutic efficacy & gastric residence time and to reduce frequency of administration. Therefore a sustained release medication was advantageous so as to achieve the prolonged therapeutic effect and to reduce peak and valley effect in plasma concentration. This can be achieved by formulating modified gastro retentive sustained release dosage forms which resides in the stomach for sufficient time to release the drug in vicinity of the absorption zone. The tablets were prepared by direct compression method, by employing polymers like HPMCK100, Poly vinyl pyrrolidine and polyacrylic acid respectively in various concentrations. The prepared granules were evaluated for angle of repose, bulk density, tapped density, compressibility index and Hausner’s ratio and results obtained were satisfactory compressed formulations were further evaluated for thickness, friability, hardness, swelling index and in-vitro dissolution studies. All the formulations showed good results which were compliance with pharmacopoeial standards. In vitro dissolution study was...
