Iron deficiency anaemia afflicts a large proportion of the human population, compromising productivity and quality of life. Iron supplements are widely prescribed for treating anaemia. However, poor compliance due to side effects, particularly gastrointestinal side effects, remain a hurdle in alleviating the problem, leading to unabated high prevalence. Thus, a fresh look at novel approaches to supplementation is essential. Iron toxicity is attributed to the Fenton Reaction and generation of reactive oxygen species leading to oxidative stress. Several studies suggest that the FR and ROS caused by excess iron, results in chronic inflammation, leading to metabolic syndrome, diabetes mellitus, atherosclerosis, cancer, neurodegenerative disorders. Iron chelates have been developed as treatment modalities to reduce free radical generation, reduce GI side effects, and enhance absorption. Classical Fe chelators, developed to counteract iron overload/ toxicity, cannot be used in IDA, due to severe side effects. In Ayurveda, iron formulations are prepared using phytomolecules that chelate iron and/or reduce OS. These phytomolecules are metabolized by the gut microbiota, which plays an important role...

The extracellular L-Asparaginase is an amidase group enzyme. In recent years enzymes gained greater importance in clinical research. The enzyme’s capability to convert L-Asparagine into Aspartic acid and ammonia is the motivation after its anti-cancer action. ALL is a type of hematologic cancer that mainly affects children at the age of 2 to 10 years. L-asparaginase is a basic constituent of ALL and Hodgkin’s lymphoma treatment. Because its foreword into pediatric treatment procedures in the 1960s, continued existence rates in children have steadily increased to almost 90%. Juvenile and adolescent patients diagnosed with ALL at the age group of 15-39 years have historically had poorer outcomes. Different diagnostic methods are available for ALL like blood tests, Bone marrow tests, Imaging tests and Spinal fluid tests. Apart from its medical applications, it is broadly used in the food industry to engage in acrylamide, a probable human carcinogen, and production in carbohydrate-rich foods cooked at high temperatures. L-Asparaginase plays an important role in the biosynthesis of the aspartic family of amino...

Natural products with medicinal value are becoming increasingly important in food preservation. Tinospora cordifolia, a plant commonly known as Guduchi, is highly beneficial in the medicinal field and has been used for centuries to treat various diseases. Due to the discovery of active components in Tinospora species and their potential for disease control, this plant has gained interest across the globe. Various pharmacological characteristics such as antioxidant, hepatoprotective, neuroprotective, antidiabetic and analgesic antitumor activities support its medicinal properties making it a promising herb with various health benefits. These biological activities of Tinospora species can be attributed due to the presence of a wide range of phytoconstituents, including alkaloids, flavonoids, lignans, Furano diterpene glucosides and sterols. The clinical importance of Tinospora cordifolia is included in this review to investigate its potential uses as an ingredient for the food industry. The future scope of the review remains in exploiting and isolating antimicrobial compounds to enable new and effective formulations in food...

Infectious diseases are the most significant cause of fatalities worldwide. Staphylococcus aureus could be a common human infective microorganism that will trigger various infectious diseases, like soft tissue and skin infections, osteomyelitis, bacteremia, endocarditis, and fatal respiratory illnesses. In recent decades, because of the evolution of microorganisms and the abuse of antibiotics, the drug resistance of S. aureus has been stepped by step exaggerated, and the infection rate has risen worldwide. Accumulating proof has demonstrated that the resistance mechanisms of S. aureus are complicated, that is, resistant to several types of antibiotics. Multiple antibiotic-resistant Staphylococcus aureus is one of the common causes of severe nosocomial infections, and the gastrointestinal tract is an important source of its transmission. Productive treatment remains difficult and needs the analysis of each novel anti-microbial and connected aspect of care, like communicable disease consultation, diagnostic technique and supply source. This review focuses on developing resistance to currently used antibiotics and examines prospects for new antibiotics and the known use of drug...

From the primordial times’ plants are standard as a chief resource for mankind. In the traditional system of medicine, Indian sarsaparilla Hemidesmus indicus (Family Asclepiadaceae) is a commonly well-known medicinal plant. This plant contains various phytoconstituents belonging to flavonoids, tannins, glycoside, sterols, and volatile oil. In the traditional system, the plant Hemidesmus indicus is used for loss of voice, cough, menstrual disorders, asthma, abdominal swelling, fever, skin diseases, ulceration due to syphilis and anthelmintic, etc. Aim and Objective: In this review article, we aim to represent an exhaustive update on the ethnobotanical review, phytoconstituents review, pharmacological review, toxicity study, and marketed formula. Materials and Method: Widely used international databases such s PubMed, Scopus, Google search, and JSTOR were searched, and various books like the flora of Orissa, Pharmacology of medicinal plant and natural product, the Indian meteria medica etc. were also searched. Result: Hemidesmus indicus played an important role in traditional Indian medicine. The important pharmacological uses of H. indicus are Anti-inflammatory, Anti-leprotic, Anti-oxidant, Anti-arthitic, Anti-microbial, Anti-diarroheal, woud healing,...
