The medicinal plant Citrullus colocynthis is very significant for indigenous medicine. The pharmacological effects of root, fruits, seeds, leaves, and the whole C. colocynthis have been practices for the treatment of diseases. Phytochemical screening of the fruits of C. colocynthis has observed several bioactive compounds. The glycosides, flavonoids, alkaloids, carbohydrates, fatty acids, and essential oils contain phenolic and flavonoids in the C. colocynthis fruit. In current research work, a review on pharmacological study of medicinal plant C. colocynthis. Many related research articles were checked and collected in Google Scholar, PubMed, Science direct, the scientific information Database, and Scopus. For the present study purpose, using the terms colocynthis, Indrayan, Garhtumba, and Kharatumba in the title of all articles published to 2021 were observed. This study suggests that the extract of C. colocynthis could offer cheaper herbal drugs. The finding of the present research work would be significant, help prepare less costly, eco-friendly herbal drugs to treat various diseases and infections to replace synthetic...

Cancer is a serious health concern in both developed and developing nations. Cancer causes due to unwanted growth of cells and irregular cell division. Medicinal plants have been used by village folk from ancient times. The plants contain various bioactive compounds that can be used for treating cancer. Some of the phyto compounds isolated from plants have shown promising results; these include curcumin, vinblastine, vincristine, camptothecin. The various phytochemicals like terpenoid, flavonoids, and coumarins were also found promising in treating cancer. A lot of plants based compounds are under trial resulted in good responses. Around 17 different plant families, members with their active constituents reported for targeting cancer pathways were summarized. In this review, various medicinal plants which are reported for anticancer drug discovery were listed and mentioned for their mechanisms of action, such as CDK inhibitor, roles of apoptosis, and angiogenesis in cancer pathways. These plants are very useful in various research studies or for research purposes; these plants seek considerable...

Background: World Health Organization states that antibacterial/antimicrobial resistance (AMR) can threaten the effective prevention and treatment of an ever-increasing range of infections caused by bacteria, parasites, viruses, and fungi. Objective: This review aims to discuss the plants and their derivatives having anti-corona virus/ viral activity. Methods: For the preparation of this review article, all the relevant information was gathered from accessible and inaccessible resources (Web, Books, Thesis, etc.). Results: It has been accepted worldwide that the uses of herbal products provide stronger immunity which helps to fight against these microbial species. SARS- CoV2 virus is now a pandemic, affecting many countries around the globe. This long series of herbal species may interfere with the target-specific proteins named S Protein, S protein- ACE-2 interaction, Helicase protein, N Protein, 3CLpr, PL pro to prevent the viral replication in the host. Traditional herbal medicine not only inhibits the virus attachment to the host body but also prevents replication and boosts up the host immune system. Natural remedies reduce the viral load and,...

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and Huntington’s disease occur as a result of the neurodegeneration process. No specific treatment was found to reduce or stop neurodegenerative diseases. In conventional medicine, many plants have been used to treat neurodegenerative diseases. Natural products play an important role in the prevention and treatment of various neurodegenerative diseases, as well as neuronal dysfunction. Different studies suggest that natural products, such as polyphenolic and plant-separated alkaloids, may delay neurodegeneration and improve memory and cognitive function. Ethnopharmacological studies have provided data to identify potential new drugs in plant sources. Recently many drugs found in medicines have been isolated from plants or their origin, including anticholinesterase (Anti-ChE) isolated plant alkaloids that have been investigated in terms of their potential in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities of plants and soluble components of plants are used to improve inflammation, anxiety, seizures, and more. Medicinal plants have beneficial properties due to the presence of complex chemical compounds to treat toxins...

Momordica charantia and Momordica dioica species belong to the Cucurbitaceae family. Momordica charantia and Momordica dioica climbing creeper plants are used both in the prevention and cure of various diseases and in the food of humans. Momordica charantia is also known as bitter gourds, bitter melon, karela, and balsam pear. Momordica charantia contain phytochemical constituents such as alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, saponins, glycosides, steroids, phenolic compounds, terpenoids, proteins, mucilages and oleanolic acids as well as moisture, ash, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins used as nutritional significance. It has been used in the treatment of tumor, inflammation, antioxidant, diabetes, hyperglycemic, hyperlipidemic, hepatoprotective, obesity, cancer, viral, viral infections (HIV, herpes, hepatitis, influenza and measles), bacterial infections, asthma, cough, skin disorder, eye diseases, immunomodulatory, microbial, cardiovascular, wound healing activities. Momordica dioica contains alkaloids, steroids, triterpenoids, flavonoids, glycosides, saponins, vitamins, protein, carbohydrates, momordicin. It has been used in the treatment of malaria, inflammation, antioxidant, diabetes, hyperglycemic. Both species are great potentiality from the economic and botanical points of view. This paper reviews the work done...
