Punica granatum (Pomegranate) external peel extract in 70% ethanol was challenged against two non-albicans Candida spp. to find out it’s possible antifungal effects in disc diffusion technique as well as in microtiter dilution to find out MIC levels. Although both showed sensitivity zones in disc diffusion technique at 100 mg/mL concentration of the extract, at lower concentrations (<16.6 mg/mL), only C. guilliermondii showed MIC value at 0.52 mg/mL, while C. tropicalis did not show any inhibition of growth at these concentrations of the...

The present study aims to develop a verse phase HPLC method for the simultaneous estimation of Metformin and Saxagliptin. In bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form and to validate the proposed method in accordance with ICH guidelines for the intended analytical application. Multiple trials were run to Metformin and Saxagliptin, get eluted with good peak symmetric properties. Mobile phase Phosphate buffer: Methanol: Acetonitrile (40:5:55), Column Hypersil silica and flow rate 1.0ml, detection wavelength at 233nm, column temperature 300C and diluents Water: Methanol (50:50). Column Hypersil silica and flow rate 1.0 ml, detection wavelength at 210 nm conditions were finalized as an optimized method. This method was validated for Stability Data, System suitability, Precision, Linearity, Accuracy, Robustness, Ruggedness, LOD, and LOQ. System suitability parameters were studied by injecting the standard five times, and results were well under the acceptance criteria. Linearity study was carried out between 25% to 150% levels, r2 value found 0.999. By using the above method, assay of the marketed formulation was carried out 99.63% was present. So,...

Microsphere drug delivery is a novel drug delivery approach for sustaining and controlling the rate and release of active pharmaceutical ingredients. Microspheres are the choice of drug delivery for delivering the drug at a specific site to release the encapsulated drug to treat various diseases. Microspheres drug delivery is an attractive dosage form in terms of its flexibility and sustaining the release as compared to other sustained and controlled formulations. Most of the antihyperlipidemic drugs come under BCS class-II, which leads to poor solubility but higher permeability, the oral bioavailability of statins categories drug possess less bioavailability due to the poor solubility; hence microspheres are the best candidate for delivering antihyperlipidemic drugs to the systemic circulation and improving the systemic bioavailability of drug for a longer period with lesser adverse effects. Therefore microspheres can be used in various medical departments like oncology, gynecology, radiology, pulmonary, cardiology, diabetes, vaccine therapy, etc. this review article focuses on recent different methods of preparation. The microspheres formulated can be later evaluated and characterized...

A novel series 3(a–d) 1-(4-benzhydryl piperazin-1-yl)-3-(di substituted) propan-1-one &1-(4-benzhydrylpiperazin-1-yl)-3-(piperidin-1-yl) propan-1-one (3e) & 1-(4-benzhydrylpiperazin-1-yl)-3-morpholinopropan-1-one (3f) compounds have been synthesized and screened for its anticonvulsant and neurotoxic activity, After i.p. injection to rat at doses of 30, 100, and 300 mg/kg body weight. Synthesized compounds were examined in the maximal electroshock-induced seizures (MES). Spectroscopic data were consistent with the structure of newly synthesized compounds. The neurotoxicity was assessed using the rotarod method. In the prepared series, 3f was found to be active in the MES screen at 0.5 h, and 4...

Leucas aspera species, auspicious in many cultures worldwide, are sources of novel bioactive secondary metabolites. The mechanism by which they exhibit therapeutic potential via antioxidant, antimicrobial and apoptotic properties is scant. The main objective of the current study was to evaluate the properties of activity-guided fractionated root methanol extract. As the methanol extract exhibited the highest antioxidant activity, it was evaluated for secondary metabolites and therapeutic properties UPLC-MS analysis of the extract identified the 15 and five secondary metabolites including oleanolic acid, 6-C-glucosyl- 8- C- arabinosylapigenin, 6- C-arabinosyl 8- C-glycosylapigenin, neohesperidin and beta-sitosterol were reported. Anti-bacterial activity by disc diffusion inhibited human pathogenic bacteria. Bacterial bio-film inhibition capacity of extract (750 µg) imaged by Confocal laser scanning microscopy revealed loss of microcolonies. Further, it quenched free radicals produced by Fentons’ reagent studied by DNS-nicking assay, indicating its strong antioxidant property. The MTT assay results identified maximum cell death for human breast cancer cells, MCF-7 (EC50, 60.31±2.71 mg/mL-1). CLSM visualized a clear indication of apoptosis via chromatin condensation. The presence...
