A simple, precise, accurate and rapid high performance thin layer chromatographic method has been developed and validated for the simultaneous estimation of Lamivudine and Abacavir sulphate in combined dosage forms. The stationary phase was precoated silica gel 60F254. The mobile phase used was a mixture of (Acetone: chloroform: methanol 4: 4: 2 v/v/v). The detection of spot was carried out at 265nm. The method was validated in terms of linearity, accuracy, precision and specificity. The calibration curve was found to be linear between 500 to 3000 ng with regression coefficient of 0.9998. The proposed method can be successfully used to determine the drug content of marketed...

A high performance liquid chromatography method was developed for the simultaneous separation and quantization of Atorvastatin calcium and Amlodipine besilate in combined pharmaceutical tablet dosage form. The chromatographic estimation was achieved by using mobile phase consisting of a mixture of phosphate buffer (1ml ortho phosphoric acid in 1000 ml 0f water) acetonitrile and methanol (53:43:4, v/v) at a flow rate of 1 ml/min and UV detection at 246 nm, using photodiode array detector. The determination was carried out by using Grace Smart RP C-18 column (250 X 4.6 mm, 5 µm). The retention time of Amlodipine besilate and Atorvastatin calcium was 3.337 and 6.067 respectively. Amlodipine besilate and Atorvastatin calcium calibration curves were linear with correlation coefficient 0.9989 and 0.9981 over a concentration range of 40-60 µg/ml and 80-120 µg/ml respectively. Recovery was between 99.60-100.02 for AML and 99.05-100.52% for ATV,...

Diabetes induced neuropathic pain is recognized as one of the most difficult type of pain to treat and conventional analgesics are well known to be partially effective or ineffective. Synthetic or natural cannabinoids are promising drugs to treat neuropathic pain. It has been reported that the effect of cannabinoid analgesics is not compromised in various experimental neuropathic pain model. The aim of present study was to explore the ameliorative potential of cannabis sativa extract in hyperglycemia-induced neuropathic pain. Streptozotocin (STZ) (20 mg/kg, i.p. x 4 days) was administered to induce experimental diabetes in the rats. The pain threshold in diabetic and non-diabetic rats was measured using paw withdrawal latency test. After 28 days of STZ injection, diabetic rats exhibited a significant thermal hyperalgesia and mechanical allodynia along with increased plasma glucose and decreased body weights as compared with controls rats. Moreover, STZ administration was noted to increased oxidative stress (MDA & nitrite level) and decreased antioxidant enzyme levels (glutathione, catalase and superoxide dismutase) significantly in diabetic rats as compared...

The ethanol extract of Wattakaka volubilis (L. f) Stapf. (Family: Asclepiadaceae) leaf was investigated for its antidiabetic effect in Wistar Albino rats. Diabetes was induced in Albino rats by administration of alloxan monohydrate (150mg/kg, i.p). The ethanol extract of Wattakaka volubilis at a dose of 150mg/kg of body weight was administered at single dose per day to diabetes induced rats for a period of 14 days. The effect of ethanol extract of Wattakaka volubilis leaf extract on blood glucose, plasma insulin, glycosylated haemoglobin, serum lipid profile [total cholesterol, triglycerides, low density lipoprotein – cholesterol (LDL-C), very low density lipoprotein – cholesterol (VLDL-C), and high density lipoprotein- cholesterol (HDL-C) serum protein, albumin, globulin, A/G ratio, serum enzymes [Serum glutamate pyruvate transaminases (SGPT), serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminases (SGOT) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP)], lipoprotein peroxidation (LPO) antioxidant enzymes (catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), reduced glutathione (GSH) ,glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and glutathione reductase (GR) were measured in the diabetic rats. The ethanol extract of Wattakaka volubilis leaf elicited significant reductions of blood glucose...

Aim: The aim of the study was to determine the outcomes and complication of preeclampsia syndrome in pregnancies Methodology: It was a Prospective observational study conducted at Indira Gandhi memorial hospital, Shirpur, Dhule. In this study a total 971 primigravida and multigravida pregnant women was observed out of which, 73 preeclamptic pregnancies were reviewed from July 2009 to February 2010. All study related data collections were conducted in accordance with Ethical background for Investigations of the preeclampsia syndrome. Results: A total 73 preeclamptic pregnancy (7.51%) syndrome was observed in between 18-22 (61.64%) years of age and in primigravida (n=43) and most of pregnant women found to be the middle class. The data of pathological report, month of pregnancy and neonatal outcomes differences was statistically significant. The preeclampsia surveillance mainly diagnosed at mild hypertension (n=64) 140/90 mmHg, severe hypertension (n=9), proteinuria found to be trace amount to ≥ 1+ dipstick and face, leg, and palm edema were observed. Also, HELLP syndrome was (8%), in which hemolysis7.40±0.54 gm%, low platelet count...
