The objective of the method is to develop a rapid, simple, accurate, precise RP-HPLC method for the simultaneous estimation of Ivabradine and Metoprolol in tablet dosage form. The analytes were run through BDS C18 150 × 46 mm, 5µm column, and detected at a wavelength of 260 nm using PDA 996 (photodiode array) detector. Mobile phase containing buffer 0.01N disodium hydrogen phosphate (3.5±1 pH) and acetonitrile in the ratio of 65:35 v/v was pumped through the column at a flow rate of 1.0ml/min and run time is about 6 min. The temperature was maintained at 30 °C. Retention times of ivabradine and metoprolol were found to be 2.38 min and 3.53 min. Percentage RSD of ivabradine and metoprolol was found to be 0.4 and 0.7, respectively. Percentage recovery of ivabradine and metoprolol were found to be 99.80% and 100.11%. LOD and LOQ values obtained from regression equations of ivabradine and metoprolol were found to be 0.03, 0.08, and 0.26, 0.79, respectively. The degradation studies were performed by applying different...

Introduction: an Inflammatory bowel disease is a group of chronic intestinal diseases characterized by inflammation of the bowel, the large or small intestine. The common types of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are ulcerative colitis UC and Cohn’s disease CD. Among the Asian countries, India is subjected to have one of the highest disease burdens of IBD across the globe. The number of IBD cases exceeds 12 lakhs annually, and an estimated 50 lakhs people are affected with IBD around the world stated by Indian statistics. Objective: To assess the quality of life in patients with inflammatory bowel disease and to associate with the sociodemographic characteristics of the patients. Materials and Methods: This was a prospective observational study carried out with 74 patients, and follow-up was conducted for 6 months at the outpatient clinic of Gastroenterology. A specially designed data collection form was utilized to collect patient’s demographic details and validated questionnaires to measure the quality of life. Results: Among 74 patients evaluated, there were an equal number of males...

In many aspects, polymeric materials have a pre-eminent position among excipients as they form the backbone of modern pharmaceutical formulations and drug delivery technologies in particular. A polymer is a natural, semi-synthetic or synthetic substance that is combined with a drug or other active pharmaceutical ingredient or excipient to release the drug in a pre-programmed manner. The drug delivery system focuses particularly on the enhancement of bioavailability, site-specific release, mucoadhesive release, sustained release, controlled release, targeted release. For achieving different release patterns as mentioned above different types of polymers are needed. Though there are various natural semi-synthetic and synthetic polymers available Eudragit polymers always have special consideration during polymer selection as it can offer a variety of grades which are useful during product development for any of the above-mentioned purpose. This article reviews Eudragit polymers in terms of usefulness during pharmaceutical applications. Eudragit polymers that are chemically Polymethacrylates are synthetic cationic, anionic and non-ionicpolymers of dimethyl-aminoethyl methacrylates, methacrylic acid and methacrylic acid esters in varying ratios. Eudragit polymers play...

In the present research, the pharmacokinetic Drug-drug interactions between HMG-COA reductase inhibitors Pitavastatin with concomitantly used Ticagrelor have been studied. Pitavastatin is a member of the blood cholesterol lowering medication class of statins while Ticagrelor is a platelet aggregation inhibitor. Combination therapy with statins and other cardiovascular medications is recommended for patients at high atherosclerotic cardiovascular patient’s risk. The effect of Pitavastatin on the pharmacokinetics of Ticagrelor was studied on male Wistar rats divided into four different groups, I group is control group, II group of healthy rats administrated with Pitavastatin only in single-dose per day. III group of healthy rats administrated with Ticagrelor in a single dose per day and IV Group of healthy rats administrated with Pitavastatin and Ticagrelor in a single dose per day. The result evaluated by student’s paired T-Test and the results indicate no significant increase in peak plasma concentration of Pitavastatin (7.12 ± 2.12 ng/ml) and Ticagrelor (80.02 ± 3.03 ng/ml) when administrated alone or in combination (7.32 ± 1.12 ng/ml and 82.83...

Present study was conducted to identify and characterize the phytoconstituents of methanolic extract of leaves of Tephrosia falciformis (Pers.) Ramaswami of family Fabaceae. The methanolic extract of leaves was subjected to qualitative screening for primary and secondary metabolites as per standard methods; further GC-MS analysis was carried out for the identification of secondary metabolites. The preliminary analysis of leaf extract confirmed the presence of primary as well as secondary phytoconstituents such as phenolic compounds, alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, phytosterols, etc. in methanolic extract. GC-MS analysis of extract revealed the presence of 53 phytochemicals. The presence of various compounds with different chemical groups like quinolene, piperdinone (alkaloids), Neophytadiene (sesqueterpenens), phytol (diterpene alcohol), sitosterol, stigmasterol (sterols) and many fatty acids including their derivatives in considerable amount gives the good prospect for the use of this plant in pharmaceutical preparations to cure health-related...
