Antibiotic resistance could be a natural phenomenon that occurs when an antibiotic loses its ability to control or kill the bacterial growth; in other words, the bacteria become “resistant” and still continue to multiply in the presence of therapeutic levels of an antibiotic. Nano-technology is one of the foremost active areas in modern science. Nano particles exhibit a completely new or improved particle based on the specific characteristics. Plant extracts generally have excellent potential as antimicrobial compounds against microorganisms. Thus, they can be utilized in the treatment of infectious diseases caused by resistant microbes. The current study explores the phytochemical screening of aqueous extracts of Lantana camara, which had revealed the presence of flavonoids tannins, terpenoids, saponins, steroids, and alkaloids. Formation and stability of silver and gold nanoparticles in aqueous colloidal solution are confirmed using UV-Vis spectral, FTIR, XRD, SEM and EDX analysis. The antibacterial activity of crude, ethanol, and methanol extracts and plant-mediated silver and gold nanoparticles were done. The study concludes that the crude extracts showed the...

Pyrethroids are among the most extensively used insecticide. The widespread use of these synthetic pesticides has stimulated research into the possible existence of adverse effects related to reproductive activity. The present study was, therefore, undertaken to assess the effects of β- Cyfluthrin, a type II synthetic pyrethroid on testes, the main organ of male reproduction. Animals were divided into five groups- Group I: Control, Group II: Vehicle control (corn oil), Group III: β-Cyfluthrin treated, Group IV: Punica granatum juice, and Group V: Pesticide + Antidote (β-Cyfluthrin + Antidote) treated. β-Cyfluthrin and Punica granatum juice both were administered orally to male albino mice of Swiss strain for 21 days to evaluate the toxic alterations in gravimetric and biochemical parameters. The body weight as well as testicular weight of animals showed significant reduction after β-Cyfluthrin treatment. Also, biochemical parameters like protein content, ATPase, SDH, and ALPase activity were seen to reduce significantly. Whereas, ACPase activity was observed to increase in β-Cyfluthrin administered group. In contrast, administration of β-Cyfluthrin and PJ concomitantly...

Plants have been used extensively as medicine for the treatment of various ailments for centuries. The present study was conducted to analyze physicochemical and phytochemical parameters of leaves and fruit of Flacourtia jangomas (Lour.) Raeusch Physicochemical profile showed the high total ash, water-soluble ash, and acid-soluble ash content in F. jangomas leaf when compared to the fruit. The water extractive value of F. jangomas leaves and fruit was more a better extractive compared to alcohol. Moisture content, swelling index, and foaming index of leaves were found to be 6.22%, 5.466 ml, and >100 units, whereas fruit was 8.973%, 3.433 ml, and <100 units, respectively. Phytochemical constituents of dried leaf and fruit were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative methods. Preliminary phytochemical screening showed the presence of alkaloids, glycosides, tannins, flavonoids, steroids, phenols, quinones, lignin, resins, coumarins, carbohydrates and proteins. Quantitative analysis showed high flavonoid content (868.04 ± 3.185, 80.91 ± 0.796 mg QE/g) followed by tannin (253.10 ± 0.738, 23.96 ± 0.071 mg TAE/g) then phenol (144.35 ± 0.99, 13.226...

The solubility and dissolution properties of any drug are vital determinants of its oral bioavailability. The aim of this study was to increase the dissolution rate of poorly soluble drug Atorvastatin calcium by delivering the drug as a liquisolid compact, prepared by using PEG as a solvent, Avicel PH 102 as carrier, silica, and lactose are used as coating materials. Sodium starch glycolate was used as super disintegrants and evaluated for their flow properties, drug excipient compatibility by FT-IR, DSC, respectively. Dissolution studies for liquisolid formulation and directly compressed tablet were carried out at a buffer pH 6.8 and found an increase in drug release of 101.71% and 80.09% at 45 min,...

Coronaviruses wrapped with the layers of positive-sense RNA viruses specified by the club-like projections from their surface responsible for a variety of diseases in the animal kingdom. After the two historical episodes of coronaviruses i.e., severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) in 2002 and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) in 2012, this time world strike with its highly pathogenic form which is severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a viral cascade event that starts from Wuhan in December 2019 and becomes a public health emergency of global interest as declared by the World Health Organization. Primarily, bats became an identifiable source of SARS-CoV-2 and their transmission to humans has occured through an unknown intermediate source. Present situation depicts that more than 200+ countries are suffering from the deadly attack of SARS-CoV-2. This virus is dangerous for every age group because of its asymptomatic carrier state that results in acute respiratory diseases. Escalation of this virus occurs very easily through human-to-human transmission via droplets...
