The incidence of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is now rising in developing countries and increasingly considered an emerging global disease. IBD is a chronic, intermittent disease. Symptoms of IBD varies from person to person and segment of the intestinal tract involved. IBD diagnosis depends on the various test, which requires blood testing, stool testing, endoscopy, biopsies as well as physical examination with patient history study. The most common side effects of antibiotics in the treatment of IBD are killing microflora with bacteria; hence it makes the condition worst rather than curing. Curcumin has many pharmacological such as anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative stress, and anti-catabolic activity, which play an important role in mitigating in CD and UC in IBD. Monoammonium glycyrrhizinate (MAG) was recognized as a compound possessing antimicrobial properties, MAG tested many researchers using the agar diffusion method, which shows significant antibacterial activities against gram-positive (Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus) as well as gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa), MAG also decrease the permeability of intestine in IBD which inhibit autoimmune attack....

Helichrysum petiolare is a herbal plant used in the Eastern Cape of South Africa to treat asthma, chest problems, colds, coughs, infections, diabetes, and high blood pressure. This study aimed to evaluate the phytochemical components and antioxidant activities of the acetone, ethanol, cold, and boiled aqueous extracts of H. petiolare. The phytochemical contents of the acetone, ethanol, and boiled and cold aqueous whole-plant extracts of Helichrysum petiolare were determined using standard phytochemical reaction methods. ABTS, DPPH, NO, and total antioxidant capacity assays were used to evaluate their antioxidant properties. This study showed the highest total phenolic content (212.963 mg/g) in the boiled aqueous extract, while the ethanol had the highest flavonoid (172.393 mg/g) and proanthocyanidin contents (65.855 mg/g). Alkaloids, flavonols, and saponin were highest in the acetone extract, while the cold aqueous extract had the lowest phytochemical content. Among the extracts, the boiled aqueous extract had the highest DPPH. + (IC50 0.02 mg/mL) and ABTS. + (IC50 0.07) inhibition capacities, while the ethanol extract exhibited the highest NO radical...

Natural resources potentials, such as animals or plants, have been utilized as a traditional herb and can be benefitted for human health and to support the government program in medication to be back to nature. The body parts often used for the traditional drug are meat, horn, tail, feather, nail, fat, bile, and shell. The animal’s potential to develop as medicine meets the following criteria: easily found, available in high numbers, and able to cure severe disease, and has economic value. In Central Kalimantan, one of the allergy treatment hereditarily practiced is the utilization of charcoal of inedible body parts of ocellated snakehead Channa pleurophthalmus Blkr, such as head skin, scale, and fins. This study was carried out to know the charcoal characteristics of ocellated snakehead (Channa pleurophthalmus Blkr) body parts in relation to its potential as an anti-allergic drug. The examination covered chemical composition, water content, rendement, charchoal absorbability, in-vivo test on a male rat, and pyrolysis-GC/MS (Py-GC/MS)-based active compound identification. Results showed that the charcoal was dominated...

Pyrimidine derivative had a wide range of biological activities, including antiTB activity. In this view, pyrimidine moiety containing N N5-(3-substituted benzylidene)-N4-phenyl and N5-(2-substituted benzylidene)-N2,N2-dimethyl-N4-phenyl compounds was designed, and a novel series of N5-(3-substituted benzylidene)-N4-phenyl pyrimidine-4,5-diamine [5A-5F]/N5-(2-substituted benzylidene)-N2,N2-dimethyl-N4-phenyl pyrimidine-2,4,5-triamine [5a-5f], were synthesized, evaluated for their antiTB activity against MTB H37Ra strain by MABA screening. Among the all 12 derivatives tested, N5-(4-methoxybenzylidene)-N4-phenylpyrimidine-4,5-diamine[5A], N5-(4-chloro benzylidene)-N4-phenylpyrimidine-4,5-diamine [5C], N5-(4-chloro benzylidene)-N2, N2-dimethyl-N4-phenyl pyrimidine-2,4,5-triamine [5c], and N5-(4-amino benzylidene)-N4-phenyl pyrimidine-4,5-diamine [5E] was found to have potent activity against MTB H37Ra strain. The compounds bearing electron-withdrawing, donating group’s substitution, and its positioning function was important to produce significant activity proved. The obtained results showed that the most active compounds could be useful as a template for future design, structural modification, and investigation to produce more active...

Since ancient times, herbal knowledge has been used in the field of health care by different cultures. Ginger and garlic are important herbs that have covered a wide role in various health ailments like kidney and heart diseases. Also, they are considered to be potential against suppressing toxicity. The present study was conducted to evaluate the toxicity suppressing capability of these two herbs against residual pesticides. Residual pesticides were extracted from apples by solvent extraction procedure. Onion tips were allowed to grow in water containing residual pesticides. Aqueous extracts of ginger and garlic were prepared for the study. The study was classified into groups: group1: control/normal (root tips grown in distilled water); group 2: root tips treated with residual pesticide; group 3: root tips treated with a combination of residual pesticide and garlic extract and group 4: root tips treated with a combination of residual pesticide and ginger extract. Mitotic index was documented using a paper microscope (Foldscope). The result was recorded for 24 h and 72 h. In...
