Our aim is to observe the impact of Levothyroxine supplement on Triglycerides and Very- low-density lipoproteins in Hypothyroid patients. This study is to observe the incidence of Dyslipidemia condition (elevated TG’s, VLDL levels) and the impact of levothyroxine supplement on TG’s and VLDL in hypothyroidism patients. Our current study is an observational study, which involves observation of hypothyroid patients and their TSH levels, TG’s, VLDL levels. The results showed that, out of 150 patients, 65 people came under group I, and 85 people were under group II. In Group-I, patients with elevated TG’s and VLDL’s were found to be 10(15. 38%), 6(9.23%) respectively. Similarly, in Group-II, patients with elevated TG’s and VLDL̓s were found to be 46(54.11%), 38(65.51%), respectively. Finally, we conclude that treatment with levothyroxine in patients with a history of hypothyroidism above 5 years resulted in the maintenance of normal TSH levels, TG’s and VLDL levels when compared with those patients who had a history of hypothyroidism below 5 years with elevated TSH, TG’s and VLDL...

Plants are rich sources of chemical compounds of high therapeutic value and screening plants for such bioactive compounds is the order of the day. First and foremost, it appears sensible to probe into the chemical reserves of abundantly available but rarely studied plants. The present study was carried out to determine the presence of phytochemicals in a common roadside weed, Cleome burmanni using Gas Chromatography- Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. The mass spectrum of the crude methanol extract was compared with the available library sources (NIST08 LIB, WILEY8 LIB). GC-MS analysis of the methanol extract of C. burmanni revealed the presence of 24 compounds. The compounds along with their retention time, molecular weight, molecular formula and peak area have been recorded. Cholest-4-en-3-one (19.05%) was the major compound detected followed by Urs-12-en-28-al (17.98%), Lup-20(29)-en-3-one (14.87%), 1-(1-Butynyl) cyclopentanol (13.47%) and 4, 22-stigmastadiene-3-one (10.77%). Remaining 19 compounds were detected in low quantities. Almost all the constituents were reported to possess specific biological...

Context: Drug-drug interactions (DDIs) are frequently observed in hospitalized cardiac patients and associated with alteration in the effectiveness of cardiovascular therapy. Aim: The study was conducted to identify the incidence and nature of DDIs and their associated risk factors among patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD). Materials and Method: A prospective interventional study was conducted between August 2018 and April 2019 in the Department of Cardiology of a tertiary care South Indian hospital. Patients admitted with CVD on a minimum of two medications were enrolled in the study and their prescriptions were evaluated for DDIs using Micromedex interaction checker version 2.8. Results: A total of 258 patients with CVD were enrolled in the study with a mean age of 60.11±12.07 years. On average, each patient was prescribed 11.35±3.30 medications. The incidence of potential DDIs (pDDIs) was 99.61%, with 7.59±4.10 as a mean number of pDDIs per prescription. The majority of the interactions were significant in severity (50.69%), pharmacodynamic (68.24%) in nature, of unspecified onset (69.97%), and with fair documentation status...

Bio behavioural aspects, immunity, and disease course are interlinked in a majority of conditions, particularly cancer. Peripheral stressors or their products regulate immunity by various ways. When there is added insult in an already compromised immune state such as cancer, as is done here using lipopolysaccharide (LPS), the system is said to be ‘double-hit. Behavioural and brain tissue-associated biochemical changes on LPS challenge have been assayed in a Diethylnitrosamine (DEN)-treated Wistar rat model of hepatic cancer. Peripheral and central effects of LPS challenge have been screened at levels of neuro behaviours, liver enzymes and brain enzymes. While LPS challenge reduced exploratory and grooming behaviours across groups after 2 h, the effect disappeared on testing after 4 h, 6 h post LPS injection, rats demonstrated increased open arm time, reduced closed arm time and increased entries into both arms of the elevated plus-maze. DEN treatment induced similar results. LPS challenge in DEN-treated rats however, led to reduced open arm time, increased closed-arm time, and reduced entries into both arms. LPS...

A Novel virus, coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), in 2019 from Wuhan, China which is globally expanded, causing the severe acute respiratory syndrome. Coronavirus is transmitted human to animal or human to human through airborne droplets. Coronavirus causes respiratory infections like pneumonia, cold, sneezing and coughing, while in animals, it causes diarrhoea and upper respiratory diseases. The virus outbreak has been declared a public health emergency of international concern by the World Health Organization (WHO), Since Covid -19 rapidly spread throughout the world from the Hunan seafood market at Wuhan, South China. The virus enters into the human cell through the membrane ACE-2 exopeptidase receptor. WHO and ECDC guided to stay away from a public place and close contact with contaminated individuals and pets. Coronavirus (2019-CoV), first and foremost, was isolated on 7th January 2020 at Wuhan market China. Here we have encapsulated the current clinical features data to guide budding Covid-19 about the Prevention, Diagnosis, Treatments and Prevention. Throughout the world, the disease has caused a range of degrees of...
