Bioluminescence, the phenomenon of light emission by living organisms, is widespread in the marine environment at all the trophic levels from bacteria to fish and is thought to play a crucial role in the general ecology of marine plants and animals. Bacterial bioluminescence is very sensitive to toxic materials and hence, several investigations have tested its application for determining the toxicity of several chemicals. Although bacterial bioluminescence has found applications in various fields, there are certain reports where they have been found to be toxic to marine fishes and shrimps. The bioluminescent Vibrio sp. is especially noted to be pathogenic to shrimps causing necrosis and luminosis. Alangium salviifolium wang. Family Alangiaceae used as a traditional medicinal plant. The objective of this study was to evaluate the comparative phytochemical and in-vitro antioxidant activity along with analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and central nervous system (CNS) depressant activities of peel and seed extract of Alangium salviifolium fruit. Quantitative phytochemical analysis for total phenolic and flavonoid content measured by Folin-Ciocalteu and Aluminium chloride method was maximum for peel (104.03 ± 0.40 mg of GAE /gm and 34.33 ± 0.24 mg of CAE /gm of dried extract respectively. In the DPPH assay method, total antioxidant capacity and reducing power assay showed significant (P< 0.05) antioxidant activity based on IC50 value. Peel extract significantly (P< 0.01) inhibited writhing (44.44 %) induced by acetic acid in mice compared to seed (37.45 %). Objectives: The present study was aimed to assess the anti-hypertensive effect of PLG in L-NAME-induced hypertensive rats. Methods: Wistar rats of 200-240g were given L-NAME (40 mg/kg body weight/day/p.o.) in drinking water daily for 4 weeks to induce hypertension. Rats were randomly divided into six groups: control, L-NAME control, Verapamil (20 mg/kg, p.o.), and PLG (5, 10, and 20 mg/kg, p.o.). PLG and standard drug Verapamil (20 mg/kg) was also administered daily for 4 weeks. At the end of the 4th week, hemodynamic and biochemical parameters were evaluated. Result: PLG (10 and 20 mg/kg) significantly (p <0.01 and p <0.001) and dose-dependently decreased the elevated (SBP), (DBP) and (MABP). PLG also prevented the increase in heart weight and body weight. Cariogenic organisms are responsible for producing and developing tooth decay, which ends up in dental caries. It is commonly seen in both children and adults. The aim was to evaluate anticariogenic activity of Commiphora caudata leaf extract. Two different solvents such as acetone and 70% ethanol used against Lactobacillus casei and Streptococcus mutans. Agar well diffusion method and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was used for this purpose. Ethanolic extract showed significant antibacterial activity against the tested organisms. Preliminary phytochemical screening of the extract revealed the presence of steroids, phenols, flavonoids and coumarins in both acetone and ethanol extract.
