Aim: Labetalol is useful in severe hypertension (HT) in pregnancy; however, there was a need to define its role in mild HT in pregnancy. The present study was done to evaluate efficacy of labetalol in mild HT in pregnancy, compare it with that of methyldopa, and compare the tolerability of methyldopa and labetalol in patients. Methods: A prospective drug comparative study was conducted for one year in 60 mild hypertensive pregnant women, with gestational age of ≥20 weeks, receiving either labetalol or methyldopa. The primary endpoint was control of blood pressure (BP). The parameters recorded for comparison were time and dose to control BP, dose escalation, urine albumin level, adverse effects, and pregnancy outcomes. Results: Both the drugs produced significant reduction in BP in the patients (p<0.001). The patients in both groups showed significant reduction of urine albumin. Same number of patients in both groups required dose escalation. Time to control BP was less in the patients receiving methyldopa than those receiving labetalol; however, the patients receiving labetalol reported...

Mango products are well demanded by consumers due to their unique flavor and mango pulps are developed as various products while mango peels and seeds are the major agro-industrial wastes in canned fruit manufacture and fruit juice processing. Hence the aim of the present study was to investigate on their bioactive phenolic compounds in mango byproducts. Extracts of pulps, seed kernels and peels were prepared using ethyl acetate. Total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), antioxidant activity and the anti-inflammatory activity were evaluated. The higher TPC was observed in the peels (52.67-275.61 mg GAE/ g of extract) and the seed kernels (132.95-270.56 mg GAE/ g of extract) than that of the pulp while the highest TFC was present in the pulps (120.20-479.80 mg QE/g of extract). The extracts of mango seed kernels and peels exhibited greater antioxidant activity on DPPH, ABTS, NO, FRAP assays and higher anti-inflammatory activity with IC50 values of seed kernel and peel extracts were found in the range of 7.73-222.10 µg/mL and 11.86 to...

Objective: To Evaluate hypoglycemic effect of Roflumilast in streptozotocin induced diabetic albino wistar rats. Materials and Methods: 18 albino rats were divided into 3 groups each group containing 6 animals, Group-1 (Diabetic Control): Distilled water 10ml, Group-2 (Standard): Glibenclamide 1.35mg, Group-3 (Test): Roflumilast 0.045mg/kg. A freshly prepared solution of Streptozotocin (45mg/kg body weight) in 0.1ml citrate buffer, pH 4.5 was injected intraperitoneally in a volume of 1ml/kg body weight to overnight fasted rats. After 48 hours of STZ administration, rats with moderate diabetes were selected for the experiment. A base line Capillary Blood Glucose was checked just before giving streptozotocin. All along the course of study animals were provided with water and food ad libitum. On the 3rd day animals were evaluated for the diabetic status by checking CBG. Only diabetic rats were used for further study. They were given above drugs for a period of 28 days starting from 3rd day after giving streptozotocin. Blood glucose levels and body weight were measured on 0, 7th, 14th, 21st and...

Although technologies are emerging day to day and bioinformatics is also growing with number of databases developed, but being a very important factor in cancer invasion and metastasis, MMPs have no exclusive database. Matrix Metallo-Protienase (MMP) is a major class of proteolytic enzymes that plays a dominant role in ECM degradation. Every time researchers are searching and gathering information from different places and next researcher repeating the same. In this study we developed a database exclusively designed for the MMPs and their...

This study aimed to evaluation of healing potential of Sambucus ebulus in full-thickness wound model in rats. A dorsal skin wound was created in rats. The 5% ointment applied to the wound area once a day for 12 days. Healing process was compared histologically between the groups. Parameters of wound healing were evaluated in the wound area. Extract improved wound contraction and closure. Histopathology study certified an organization of wound tissues. Extract reduced the number of inflammatory cells, increased wound-healing rate, epithelialization and significantly improved collagen formation. Granulation tissue formation was more organized when compared with control groups. S. ebulus showed positive effects on wound healing process and improved healing...
