Leucas aspera is the medicinal plant commonly known as ‘Thumbai’ found all over India. It is being used in traditional medicine to treat cough, cold, diarrhea, inflammatory diseases, and paste of the plant that has been used to treat the wound to enhance the wound healing process. The plant is reported to have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antidiarrheal, antimicrobial, antioxidant, and insecticidal activities. The current study has been taken up to evaluate the aqueous extract of L. aspera leaves (LaLE) for its proteolytic activity and its role in the blood coagulation cascade. The concentration of protein in LaLE was estimated to be 1 mg/ml. The proteolytic activity was determined with a specific activity of 2.40 U/mg/ml. The protein banding profile was analyzed on SDS-PAGE. LaLE hydrolyzed fibrinogen, fibrin, and collagen (I and IV) in a dose-dependent manner. LaLE increased the clotting time in prothrombin time (PT) and recalcification time (RT) by 3.87- and 5.43-folds, respectively, indicating its potentiality as an anticoagulant protease. LaLE inhibited ADP-induced platelet aggregation by 2.38-folds, suggesting its...

Jimson weed (Datura stramonium) members of the Solanaceae plant family; serve as major folklore medicinal herbs. The biologically active compounds spectrum in leaves of Datura stramonium L. was investigated by GC-MS with NMR & FTIR analysis. Steroids, terpenoids, anticholinergic alkaloids, atropine, and scopolamine, are detected. Twenty of them are new constitutions for the species, and eight phytosterol compounds are described for the first time. This is the first report on some other antibacterial heterocyclic compounds, antioxidant flavonoids, antimicrobial phytol, amino acids, and sulfone & fluoro compounds in Datura stramonium leave identified by GC-MS...

Currently, pharmacological activities of Eclipta alba (L.) plant extracts and individual phytoconstituents have revealed anticancer, hepatoprotective, snake venom neutralizing, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. The role of antioxidants is increasing day by day due to their multiple roles to reduce the harmful effects of oxidative stress. Phytoconstituents like wedelolactone and ursolic and oleanolic acids as well as luteolin and apigenin can form the basis of new drugs against cancer, arthritis, gastrointestinal disorders, skin diseases, and liver disorders. Plants have all these activities due to biologically active compounds, and for this, we have analyzed phytochemical screenings and antioxidant activity through the DPPH, ABTS●+, and reducing power assay and we got maximally phenols then flavonoids and flavonols and a good natural antioxidant agent. The best-known compound in E. alba i.e., Wedelolactone. It was analyzed by TLC, and it was present as 0.52 Rf value and present in pet ether extract and acetone extract and minimum in ethanol extract. The antioxidant activity was assessed through DPPH, ABTS●+ free radical scavenging activity and reducing...

Antibiotic resistance emergence, as well as the Darwinism of up to the minute strains of ailment generating agents, is of grave concern to the global health community. Sustainable therapeutics of an ailment entails the amalgamation of contemporary pharmaceuticals or some potential prospective of novel drugs. Customarily employed medicative plants of Gopalganj community could be an enticing of drugs to fight this problem. This study is targeted at a reconnaissance of the antimicrobial properties of the plants that are customarily being used as traditional health implementation. The antimicrobial potential of five different plant extracts was screened against three pathogenic microorganisms, which were isolated from typical non-healing wounds of patients of Gopalganj district hospital. The microorganisms chosen to evaluate for antimicrobial activity were Proteus mirabilis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus. The favorable activity was shown by the extracts of Tridex procumbens L. was found to highest with zone of Inhibitions reaching to 18 mm, 19 mm and 20 they were nearly around the zone of inhibitions of positive...

Diagnosis of oral ulcerative lesions might be quite challenging. Oral ulcerative lesions were categorized into three major groups as acute, chronic, and recurrent ulcers. Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) have been found in the oral cavity and stomach, and its infection is one of the most frequent worldwide. There is a close relation between H. pylori infection in the oral cavity and the stomach. H. pylori etiologic agent in recurrent apthous stomatitis, Canker sores. Quercetin inhibits the H. Pylori. Monoammonium glycyrrhizinate (MAG) was recognized as a compound possessing antimicrobial properties; MAG tested many researchers using the agar diffusion method which, show significant antibacterial activities against gram-positive (Bacillus subtilis, Stap Hylococcus aureus) as well as gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa). The objective of the present investigation was to formulate and evaluate gel for mouth ulcer treatment of Quercetin and MAG. The concentration of carbopol p940 and propylene glycol were optimized using a central composite design for two factors. Formulations were evaluated for various parameters such as pH, viscosity, spreadability, drug...
