Present investigation provides evidence for complex formation of Ibuprofen (Ib) with Go-Ghrita (GG). Ibuprofen binary mixture in (1:0.5), (1:1), (1:2), (1:3) w/w proportions were prepared by adding to molten Go-Ghrita kept over a water bath at 65-70oC with continuous stirring. Organoleptic and Physico-chemical properties of GG (procured from Magan Sangrahalaya, Wardha) were as per the specifications given in Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia (AP) and Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP). All proportions were subjected for FT-IR and in-vitro release behaviour (SGF, PH 1.2 for 2 Hrs and SIF, PH 6.8 for 7 Hrs) and on basis of it, optimized (1:1) w/w proportions were further analyzed and characterized for Differential Scanning Calorimetry, X-ray diffraction, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Scanning Electron Microscopy. Carbonyl stretching of isopropionic acid group to slight higher frequency 1.39 % cm-1 (increase) and (–C=O) linked (-OH) band stretching to slight lower frequency 1.09 cm-1 (decrease) shown in FT-IR spectra, supported by in-vitro release of Ibuprofen 99.16±0.17% of (1:1) w/w in sustenance form than remaining. Exclusion of polymorphic modification in X-RD, Slight lowering of...

The most common cause of death is bone marrow failure. Chromosomal analysis is essential for the diagnosis, response to treatment and prognosis of leukemia. Conventional karyotyping which shows the structural, numerical and compound aberrations have improved the genetic diagnosis of leukemia. The bone marrow samples from patients (2-60yrs) of 53 patients (32 male and 21 female) suffering from various types of leukemia were collected. The patients were selected on the basis of clinical diagnosis and pathologically presenting blast cells in the peripheral smear. After photography all cells were analysed and printed photographs were taken for karyotyping and the chromosomes were banded, karyotyped and studied in detail for translocations, deletions, inversion, monosomy, trisomy and hyperdeploidy. It is observed that in all subtypes of leukemia male patients are more prevalent than female. Certain translocations t(8:21), t(8:15) in AML and Hyperploidy in ALL had better treatment outcome with aggressive chemotherapy. Hence younger age group were usually having t(4:11) in ALL , t(8:21) & t(15:17) in AML had better prognosis than other chromosomal...

In this study, comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) and comparative molecular similarity indices analysis (CoMSIA) were performed on a series of 73 experimentally reported natural flavonoid derivatives as AMV and HIV Reverse transcriptase (RT) inhibitors with pIC50 values ranging from 4.00 to 5.92. Based on alignment, highly predictive CoMFA and CoMSIA were obtained with cross-validated q2value of 0.760 and 0.696 respectively, and non-cross-validated partial least-squares (PLS) analysis with the optimum components of five showed a conventional r2 of 0.964 and 0.977 respectively. The CoMFA and CoMSIA models have been further validated for their stability and robustness using group validation and boot-strapping techniques and for their predictive abilities. The analysis of CoMFA contour maps provided insight into the possible modification of the molecules for better...

Low solubility and biovariability associated with cilostazol (CLZ) pose serious formulation problems despite several advancements in dosage form design. The present research work amalgamates two different solubility enhancement techniques, viz. spray drying and cyclodextrin inclusion complexation to produce amorphous composites of CLZ with increased solubility and dissolution characteristics. FTIR studies unveiled inclusion/ interaction of cyclohexane ring and tetrazole moiety of CLZ in the hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) cavity. Thermal analysis by DSC showed a decrease in melting points of CLZ and HP-β-CD, indicating favorable complex formation. P-XRD studies revealed reduction in crystallinity and amorphization of CLZ in the complex. SEM indicated a drastic change in surface morphology compared to pure CLZ. These complexes were compressed into oral disintegrating tablets (ODTs) using direct compression technique. The ODTs were characterized for disintegration time, wetting time and in vitro dissolution. Remarkable improvement in solubility and in vitro dissolution characteristics was observed for ODTs in water and compendial dissolution media. Inclusion complexation with HP-β-CD, amorphous composites produced by spray drying technique and the use of...

Present study was carried out to assess testicular toxicity of pyrethroid insecticide, Deltamethrin (DM) in male Swiss albino mice, Mus musculus and to evaluate protective role of Allium sativum (AS) in alleviating the detrimental effect of DM. Forty male mice were divided into five experimental groups (8 mice per group) and were categorized : Control- Given distilled water and food ad libitum, Vehicle Control (oil)- Given peanut oil, DM treated- Given 1/5th of LD50 (6 mg/kg body weight) of DM dissolved in peanut oil via oral gavage, AS-given Allium sativum only (200 mg/kg body weight), DM + AS- given Deltamethrin along with Allium sativum (6 mg/kg body wt. + 200 mg/kg body wt.). Experiment was conducted for a duration of 45 days. DM caused a significant reduction in body weight, testicular weight, Total Protein, Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), Catalase (CAT), Glutathione (GSH), Glutathione Peroxidase (GPx), Glutathione Reductase (GRx), Glutathione-S- Transferase (GST) and Glycogen content of testis. DM-treated group also showed a significant increase in testicular malondialdehyde (MDA) and Cholesterol concentrations....
