Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by unprovoked, recurring seizures that disrupt the nervous system and can cause mental and physical dysfunction. Based on the ethnopharmacological information of the plant, the methanol and aqueous extract of the whole plant of MELISSA OFFICINALIS was evaluated for its antiepileptic activity in Swiss Albino Mice .Antiepileptic activity was assessed by using MES and PTZ induced models (250 and 500 mg/kg). Body weight doses were used for the present study. In the MES model the methanol and aqueous extracts showed a dose dependent reduction in the duration of hind limb extensor phase. In pentylenetetrazole induced model methanol and aqueous extracts at dose level of 500mg/kg body weight showed significant reduction in the tonic convulsions induced by PTZ when compared with control group. The present study was designed to screen and evaluate the hepatoprotective and antioxidant activity of ethanol extracts of leaf and bark of Naringi crenulata (Roxb) Nicolson (NCL, NCB) against CCl4 induced hepatotoxicity in rats. In the present study,FDDS of Famotidine, a copmpetative inhibitor of histamine H2 receptors were prepared by using natural gums viz. xanthan gum and guar gum at different drug to gum ratio using sodium bicarbonate and citric acid as gas generating agents and lactose as diluent.FDDS tablets were prepared by wet granulation technique using PVP K30 as granulating agent. The prepared FDDS tablets were evaluated for its pre compression characteristics like bulk density, angle of repose, true density and compresibility index and post compression parameters such as hardness, friability, uniformity of drug content, in vitro floating studies, in vitro dissolution studies. The physical evaluation of all the formulations showed values within the prescribed limits for tests like hardness, friability and weight variation which indicate that the prepared tablets are of standard quality.
