Background: Fever is a part of a complex biological response due to pathogens, bacterial infection, damaged cells, drugs, toxins, etc. Fever is currently treated by NSAIDs. Unfortunately, NSAIDs damage the liver and kidney, inhibit COX-1, which affects the digestive system, and increase the risk of a blood clot. Therefore, the developments of potent antipyretic drugs from medicinal herbal plants are now under consideration. Polyherbal formulations (PHFs) was become resurgent due to the demand and consumption of herbal drugs. The present research aims to evaluate the antipyretic screening activity of PHFs in albino Wistar rats. Material methods: Different PHFs combinations were formulated using hydro-alcoholic extracts and explored the antipyretic activity of PHFs in albino Wistar rats. Male albino Wistar rats weighing 100-150g were selected and grouped among normal control, standard (Paracetamol; 150mg/kg) and treatment groups (PHF; 100 mg/kg, PHF; 300 mg/kg and PHF; 600 mg/kg) respectively. To check the safety parameters of PHFs extract, Hematological and biochemical tests were also performed. Results: PHFs (100mg/kg, 300mg/kg and 600mg/kg) shows antipyretic effect...

Ibuprofen is a Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) class drug and is used to treat pain, minor aches, fever, inflammation, and arthritis. Ibuprofen has an oral dose of 300 mg minimum and 3200 mg maximum in a day and is the main reason for the increase in its dosing frequency; many of the Ibuprofen formulations are of three times a day dosing and is the main reason for the development of such a formulation which can reduce the dosing frequency, so many researchers developed Ibuprofen matrix dosage form which can give a prolonged therapeutic effect. But in this formulation, Ibuprofen is combined with a Natural, Resinous substance known as “Bee Propolis” or simply “Propolis” Propolis is a natural substance collected by some species of Honey bees; it is a resinous, gummy material that has many therapeutic properties and can also be used as a natural binder in the dosage form due to its good binding abilities and, it can also give a positive synergistic effect when combined with Ibuprofen. In this...

Maṇikkaṭai-nūl (MK) is an exclusive diagnostic method particular to Siddha Medicine, where the subject’s Finger breadths (FB) calculated from the Antebrachial circumference (ABC) is accessed for predicting the symptom, disease, or the pathological sequence. The present observational field studies (Study 1 & 2) aim to validate the clinical significance of MK as a reliable diagnostic tool. True positive (T+), False positive (F+) and False negative (F-) predictions were evaluated in study 1 (n=116). Three divisional trials were done in study 2 that assessed the correlation of MK readings with Antebrachial circumference (ABC) (n1=117), ABC, total fingerbreadth (TFB) (n2=27), and Body Mass Index (BMI), and ABC. (n3=23). Pearson correlation analysis was used to determine the association between different parameters based on a 95% confidence interval. The differences were considered significant at a P-value of <0.05. A Scatter plot was used to study the pattern of association. From the study (n =116), the T+ cases were 97 (83.62 %) and 16 cases (13.79%) were not relevant (F+ & F-). For the...

Introduction: Plantar fasciitis is one of the more common causes of pain in the heel, as seen in non-traumatic patients. When the conservative treatments fail, Corticosteroid injection and Autologous Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injection will provide good pain relief. The study was performed to compare the functional outcomes following PRP and steroid injection and to identify which modality provides better pain relief. Materials and Methods: This was a prospective study of 30 patients. Patients were allocated to 2 groups, Group A(n = 15) and Group B(n=15). PRP injection was given in group A and Corticosteroid injection was given in group B. Visual Analog scale (VAS) and American Orthopaedics Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) score were used for assessing the pain and functional outcome. Results: In group A: the mean VAS pre-PRP was 6.66, which improved to 1.13 at the 6th-month follow-up. The mean AOFAS score pre-PRP was 62.8 and was improved to 89.20 at the 6th-month follow-up. In group B, the mean VAS pre-steroid injection was 6.8, which improved...

Nanoparticles are fascinating materials that find many applications in basic and applied research. The chemical reduction technique is one of the easiest methods for synthesizing Nickel Oxide Nanoparticles (NiO NPs) in low-temperature ranges. Nickel Nitrate Hexahydrate (Ni(NO3)2.6H2O), Ascorbic acid, NaOH, and NaBH4 were applied as starting reagents to synthesize NiO NPs. Noble metal oxide nanoparticles have been extensively utilized for many applications in the present scenario. In the present study, attention has been focused on the fabrication of NiO NPs synthesized by the Chemical Reduction Method (CRM). The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, EDAX, and SEM Techniques. The optical band gap energy value has also been determined as 2.59eV from the UV-Vis spectrum. The nanometal oxide is subjected to photocatalytic activity on Congo red dye under solar irradiation and exhibits very good degrading ability within a few minutes of exposure. Its pharmacological activity is also analyzed using pathogenic organisms like Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escheria coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria and found to...
