Background: To date, the 2019 novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) is the greatest public medical issue in the world. World Health Organization (WHO) declared this outbreak a “public health emergency of international concern” on January 31, 2020. Therefore, it bodes well to look for a potential biomarker that could quickly and effectively distinguish serious cases early. Of the total confirmed Covid-19 patients, the severe cases often suffer from underlying diseases such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes that can accelerate the movement of 2019 novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) infection. Moreover, acute respiratory distress syndrome could lead to death in some severe Covid-19 patients, and various disorders often accompany this. Hedychium spicatum is one of the plant species reported from the northern Himalayan ranges of India, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, with ethnobotanical values and is well-known for their ethnomedicinal applications. In the present investigation, pet ether and ethanolic rhizome extracts of Hedychium spicatum were Analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS) to identify the important phytochemical constituents. The GC–MS analysis of pet ether and ethanolic extracts from rhizomes of Hedychium spicatum detected the presence of numerous phytochemical compounds. Further, the literature review reported rhizome extracts of H. spicatum to have remarkable anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, cardioprotective, and antibacterial activities. The results of DPPH and ferric reducing antioxidant power assay recorded maximum antioxidant activity in Hedychium spicatum ethanolic rhizome extract at 500mg/kg dosage. As well as the ethanolic extract exhibited maximum α-amylase inhibition activity followed by exhibiting aldose reductase inhibition. Drug-Related Problem (DRP) affects the hospital stay, healthcare budget, quality of life, morbidity, and mortality. The study aims to assess the prevalence and predictors of DRPs in hospitalized patients and provide intervention. A prospective interventional study was conducted in the in-patient medical department of the NGO hospital. A total of 310 subjects were enrolled and screened for the presence of DRP. The identified DRPs were categorized according to the Hepler and Strands. Depending on DRP, the clinical pharmacist provided an intervention at the patient and physician level and recorded the acceptance. The data was analyzed using SPSS™. Binary logistic regression was employed to associate risk factors with DRPs. The prevalence of DRPs in the medical department was 80.0%, with a 0.93 DRP/patient average. Drug interactions(DI) (28.4%) and adverse drug reactions (ADR) (21.8%) are the most common DRPs. Anti-microbials (78.0%) and Anticonvulsants (81.2%)showed a greater risk of developing DRPs. Hypothyroidism is a progressive disorder characterized by varying degrees of thyroid failure, metabolic consequences, and hemodynamic changes that decrease renal plasma flow and glomerular filtration rate, increasing serum creatinine level. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate and analyse the level of serum urea, creatinine and thyroid function tests in cases of subclinical hypothyroidism and apparently healthy controls and determine whether thyroid dysfunction has detrimental effects on serum creatinine and urea levels in subclinical hypothyroidism cases. Both thyroid function tests (TSH, T3, and T4), serum urea, and creatinine were analyzed in 45 cases with subclinical hypothyroidism and 45 healthy subjects. Patients with subclinical hypothyroidism had a statistically significant rise in creatinine levels compared to controls. In contrast, there was no significant difference in serum urea levels between patients and controls.
