A Simple, sensitive, specific and stability indicating RP-HPLC method was developed for the simultaneous estimation of velpatasvir and sofosbuvir in bulk and tablet dosage form. Effective separation attained by injecting 10 μL of the standard solution containing velpatasvir and sofosbuvir into Xbrdige Phenyl (250 × 4.6 mm, 5 µ, 100 A0) column, with a mobile phase containing methanol, buffer (0.1% formic acid in water) and acetonitrile in 40:30:30 v/v ratio, at a flow rate of 1ml/min. The eluted analytes were effectively responded qualitatively and quantitatively at 273 nm wavelength. The drugs were experienced in stress conditions such as oxidative, acid, base, photolytic, and thermal degradation. The retention times of sofosbuvir and velpatasvir were observed at 3.4 and 5.1 min, respectively. The method has a good linear response in the concentration range of 10-30 µg/ml and 40-120 µg/ml for velpatasvir and sofosbuvir respectively. LOD and LOQ were calculated as 1 µg/ml and 4 µg/ml for velpatasvir, 4 µg/ml, and 13 µg/ml for sofosbuvir. All the obtained validation parameters have been...

Chenopodium album Linn. is a plant that has a long history of uses in liver disorders. This study was done to evaluate the hepatoprotective effects of methanolic extract of Chenopodium album leaves on paracetamol-induced hepatotoxicity in albino rats. The hepatoprotective effect was evaluated on the basis of liver function parameters viz. Serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT), Serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase (SGPT), Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP), Direct Bilirubin (DBIL), Total Bilirubin (TBIL) and Albumin (ALB) in serum of different groups of rats followed by histopathological study. In the present study, biochemical analysis suggested that acute administration of paracetamol-induced significant hepatotoxicity in experimental rats, which was evidenced by a significant increase in SGOT, SGPT, serum bilirubin, and serum alkaline phosphatase, while there was a decrease in serum albumin level. Treatment with C. album leaf extract has shown a marked reduction in SGOT, SGPT, serum bilirubin, and serum alkaline phosphatase, while there was an increase in the serum albumin level. The results of the present study revealed that the methanolic leaf extract of...

The thyroid, an important part of the human endocrine system, is involved in the regulation of oxygen use, basal metabolic rate, cellular metabolism, and growth. As it acts as a regulator for the body, abnormalities of the thyroid should be reckoned with, and measures to prevent such occurrences should be followed. Hypothyroidism can be described as the inability of the thyroid gland to produce sufficient thyroid hormone to fulfill the metabolic demands of the body. Usage of medicinal plants and their active compounds for the treatment of diseases has, in recent years, showing a lot of promise in chemotherapy. Also, the lack of major side effects, as observed with the usage of such therapy led to an increase in the people’s tendency to use these compounds. In the present study, the effect of aqueous extracts of Terminalia chebula fruit on Thyroid parameters in rats during seven-day oral administration of a low dose of 250 mg/kg and a high dose of 500 mg/kg was investigated. The parameters evaluated the ameliorative...

Helicobacter pylori causative agent of acid peptic disease is a microaerophilic, spiral-shaped, gram-negative bacteria found in the gastric epithelium that may also lead to complications such as chronic gastritis, mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma, gastroduodenal ulcer and adenocarcinoma in stomach. Plantbioactives have always been potential therapeutics. Usage of modern bioinformatic tools plays a vital role in exploiting the potentials of alternative therapeutic molecules in managing diseases like peptic ulcers and their complications. The in-silico evaluation was carried out using molecular docking of the quorum sensing proteins of H. pylori with the ligand β-sitosterol obtained from the silver nanoparticles of Acorus calamus L. Among several given quorum sensing proteins the molecular interaction with the ligand β-sitosterol showed a high binding affinity with DnaA, PhnB, ToxB and Sip proteins. The results obtained from molecular interaction study revealed that the ligand β-sitosterol will be readily taken up by the organism, thereby facilitating easy inhibition or inactivation of quorum sensing molecules ToxB, DnaA, PhnB, and Sip, making it a novel therapeutic alternative to treat H....

Background: Chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) is defined as a persistent infection of the middle ear cleft with a perforated tympanic membrane and draining exudate for more than 6weeks. Information about the organism responsible for COSM and their antibiotic susceptibility is important for effective treatment. Material and Methods: A prospective cross-sectional study was conducted on 85 patients; the middle ear discharge sample was collected under strict aseptic conditions and antibiotic susceptibility done as per Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines. Result: 85 ear swabs were collected, and 89 bacterial isolates were identified, of which 72.94% sample with mono-microbial growth, 16.47% with polymicrobial growth, 9.41% show no growth, and the rest 1.17% was a contaminant. Among 89 isolates, 39.33% were Gram-positive, while 60.67% were Gram-negative bacteria. The most common isolates were Pseudomonas species 40.45% followed by methicillin sensitive staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) 38.20% and others 21.35%. Pseudomonas species showed 100% susceptible to colistin, linezolid, imipenem, amikacin (97%); ciprofloxacin (92%); gentamicin (95%); Ceftriaxone (83%); meropenem (93%); Netilmicin (98%) and Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim(SXT) (90%)....
