In this research, ciprofloxacin adsorption (CIP) onto graphene oxide synthesized with Fe3O4 (Fe3O4-GO) was applied via various adsorbent dose, contact time, temperature and initial CIP concentration. The results showed that the percentage removal of CIP decreases from 98.1 to %77.4, as the CIP concentration increases from 25 to 200 mg/L. Also, the amount of CIP adsorbed per unit mass of adsorbent increased from 49.25 to 309.6 mg/g with increasing in CIP concentration from 25 to 200 mg/L. The results showed that the adsorption was accurately represented by the pseudo-second-order model. Under different temperature, the CIP maximum adsorption on Fe3O4-GO calculated by pseudo-second-order kinetic model and were 197 mg/g (273 K), 191.6 mg/g (288 K), 182.2 mg/g (303 K) and 172.6 mg/g (318 K). Also, the results showed the existence of three steps during the adsorption process. The first stage was the transport of CIP molecule from the adsorbents external surface to the pores of the adsorbent internal structure. The second stage is the transport of CIP molecule from the...

Attempts were made to carry out the laboratory synthesis of non-symmetric mono-, di- and tri- substituted 1, 3, 5-triazines by the action of the electron-donating substituent on 2, 4, 6-trichloro-1, 3, 5-triazines by aromatic nucleophilic substitution reaction mechanism (SNAr reaction) by temperature controlled. The introduction of the amino group (-NH-), ether (-O-) and thiol (-S-) Linker Bridge show more promising antibacterial activity. The yield of newly synthesized compounds was quite well, and their structures were confirmed by using IR, 1H NMR, and Mass spectral...

Background: Leukemia is the seventh common cancer in Iran, and AML is considered as the most common type. Malnutrition is common among patients with cancer. Vitamin C deficiency has a high prevalence among patients with cancer, which may influence a patient’s survival chance. This study was aimed to evaluate the effect of vitamin C supplementation on nutritional status and serum albumin in patients with acute myeloid leukemia referred to Shariati Hospital in Tehran. Methods: This study was recruited by a randomized selection of 50 patients with AML, including entrance criteria, into 2 groups including the supplement group and control group. The duration of the study was 1 month. Nutritional status was assessed by the PG-SGA questionnaire, body weight, serum albumin status, and 3 days of food record before and at the end of the study. Results: The results of this study have shown that the nutritional status and body weight in the supplementation group have improved significantly (p-value=0.001 and 0.004, respectively). The serum albumin status has increased significantly in...

The objective of this study was to determine the safety of rubber seed oil in terms of toxicity, residual solvent and to develop rubber seed cleansing oil as a makeup remover. The cytotoxicity of rubber seed was determined on human fibroblast cell. It was not cytotoxic to human fibroblast cell at >1000 µg/ml. Rubber seed oil was further examined for the presence of linamarin toxin and determining the solvent residual. FTIR spectrum revealed that there was no presence of cyanide peak and, n-hexane residual was 60.35 ± 1.12 ppm. Based on these results, it was suggested that rubber seed oil was safe to be developed as a product for cosmetic applications. The rubber seed cleansing oil was formulated in various compositions of rubber seed oil (5, 10 and 15%) combined with sorbeth-30 tetraoleate (HLB 11.5) and sorbitan sesquioleate (HLB 3.7) and the ratio of surfactant was 10, 15 and 20% respectively. The most suitable formulation with good physical properties was obtained from 5% of rubber seed oil, and 15%...

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is chronic liver diseases ensuing from excessive fat accumulation in liver attributed to high dietary fat and carbohydrate and lower hepatic activity. It is associated with obesity and high BMI (body mass index). The excess carbohydrate-rich diet activates its conversion to TG (triglycerides), which gets accumulated in adipose and non-adipose tissues in the body. Insulin resistance also plays an important role in its pathogenesis. This work is focused on antioxidant and hypolipidemic potentials of water extract of Pueraria tuberosa (PTWE) in rats with high fat diet-induced non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. NAFLD was induced in rats with a high-fat diet (HFD) for 100 days and grouped into HFD control, HFD+PT 50 mg/100 g bw, HFD+PT 100 mg/100 g bw. Blood triglycerides, cholesterol, glucose, serum glutamate oxaloacetate trans-aminases (SGOT), serum glutamate pyruvate transaminases (SGPT), Superoxide dismutase (SOD), Catalase activity and lipid peroxides (LPO) levels were assessed. The histological studies in the liver were done by H&E staining. PTWE shows the antioxidant properties by decreasing lipid peroxidation...
