This study was undertaken to elucidate the serum antioxidant (Vitamin C), macro – minerals (Ca, Na, and K) and trace elements (Zn, Fe) concentration of in patients with metabolic syndromes. Metabolic syndrome was examined by following the definition developed by the National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III (NCEP ATPIII). Serum Vitamin C was estimated by phenyl-hydrazine spectrophotometry method, while Macro-minerals and trace elements were determined under coordination of two methods these was flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) and graphite furnace. This study found that Vitamin C is lowering significantly (p < 0.05) in patients with metabolic syndrome while compared with control subjects. Analysis of serum trace elements (Zn, Fe) and macro minerals (Ca, Na, K) explored low serum concentrations in examined patients significantly either than control group (P < 0.05). Centella asiatica (CA) is a reputed medicinal plant that has been shown to have pharmacological effect on skin wound healing. The aim of the study was done to assess the effects of aqueous extract of CA on human dermal fibroblasts in an in vitro model of wound healing. Dermal fibroblasts were cultured with or without supplementation of aqueous extract of CA. Viability and proliferation of the fibroblasts cells were determined by MTT assay and cell cycle were analyzed by flowcytometry. In-vitro re-epithelization was assessed by scratch assay and migration rate was evaluated quantitatively by image analyzer. Gene expression of type I collagen, type III collagen, fibronectin and SMAA2 were studied via real-time RT-PCR. Supplementation with the aqueous extract of CA inhibited the fibroblasts’ proliferation significantly (p<0.05) at high concentration. The objective of the present work is to develop the meter dose nasal formulation of xylometazoline hydrochloride with a view to improve the effectiveness as nasal decongestion. The 32 factorial experimental design was employed for optimization of sodium cholate (X1) and PEG 400 concentration (X2) in the formulation. All the possible experimental trials were carried out according to design layout. The experimental model was further validated by six check point batches. The optimized formulation contains 1.5% w/v sodium cholate and 20% v/v PEG 400. The formulation was further evaluated for its drug content, pH, viscosity, spray content uniformity, in vitro-diffusion studies, pump delivery, spray pattern, sterility, and stability study. The percentage diffusion and viscosity were observed 89.33 ± 0.57% and 25.33 ± 0.57 centipoise respectively. For spray pattern of optimized formulation, the ovality obtained was 1.217, while perimeter and area were found to be 104.56 mm and 791.5 mm2 respectively. Objectives: To compare the efficacy of ferrous calcium citrate with ferrous ascorbate on Hb levels in anaemic pregnant women. Method: In this observational study, patients receiving ferrous ascorbate with elemental iron 100 mg were allocated to group A and those receiving ferrous calcium citrate with elemental iron 50 mg allocated to group B. After recording the baseline data, their Hb levels, side effects at the end of each month were recorded. Results and discussion: Change in mean Hb levels from baseline to three months is 1.59 ± 0.74, 1.94 ±0.52 in group A and group B respectively with the p value ≤0.05. Group B did show statistically significant difference in terms of change in Hb among primi and multiparous women, contrast to group A. Bisphenol A is well known endocrine disturbing chemical. Evidence has demonstrated that exposure to certain levels can cause toxic effect in humans and laboratory animal models. Quercetin is consistently the most active of the flavonoids in experimental studies. The present investigation was an attempt to evaluate the effect of Bisphenol A on testis and its amelioration by quercetin. Inbred Swiss strain male albino mice were orally administered with BPA (80, 120 and 240 mg/kg body weight/day) for 45 Days. On the completion of treatment, animals were sacrificed, testis was isolated and used for evaluation of energy metabolism (SDH and ATPase activity) and phosphatases activity (ACP, ALP). The results revealed that oral administration of BPA for 45 days caused significant dose-dependent reduction in activities of ATPase and SDH.
