Semecarpus anacardium plant derivatives has been used since antiquity, The fruit and nut extract of Semecarpus anacardium shows various activities like antiatherogenic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antireproductive, CNS stimulant, hypoglycemic, anticarcinogenic, antifertlity effects. The present study is an attempt to explore the antiovulatory effect of aqueous and ethanolic extracts of fruits of Semecarpus anacardium plant in female albino rats. Objective: To study the antiovulatory activity of aqueous and ethanolic extracts of Semecarpus Anacardium fruit in female albino rats. Materials and Methods: Total of 54 Wistar female albino rats were selected weighing about 150 – 200 grams with atleast three regular estrous cycles were divided into 9 groups containing 6 ratseach were administered aqueous and ethanolic extracts of Semecarpus anacardium fruit both were administered in doses of 200,400,600,800 mg/kg, b.wt for different group daily for 21 days and estrous cycle monitored for 30 days daily. Control group received vehicle (Tween 80 1%, p.o. daily) and the estrous cycle was monitored daily, doses for the study selected after acute toxicity studies. Results:...

Norfloxacin is slightly soluble in water and is a synthetic antimicrobial fluoroquinolone. Absorption of Norfloxacin is slightly impaired when it is administered with food as evidenced by a reduction of approximately 30% in the peak serum concentration. In the present study concept of mucoadhesive suspension is introduced to overcome the limitation of drug that has poor oral bioavailability and to increase the residence time of drug by bringing the drug in the vicinity of absorption window by formulating it in mucoadhesive drug delivery system. An attempt has been made to increase the bioavailability of Norfloxacin by formulating mucoadhesive suspension in different Polymers. Increase in time, speed of homogenization decreases the particle size and increases the zeta potential. Batches formulated with soyalecithin, antinucleating agents, showed decreased particle size. The comparative studies of dissolution studies showed, 99.55% of processed suspension released in 10Min. as compared to 101.63% released in 40Min. for marketed suspension respectively. The reason for increased percent release of drug in short time (10Min.), for processed suspension is, more...

The plant Hugonia mystax L., is a woody evergreen liana belonging to the family Linaceae, locally knows as Modirakanni. Ethnobotanically the tender fruits were used for rheumatism and biological activities like antimicrobial were reported. Present study find outs the scientifically evidence of fruits of Hugonia mystax for its antioxidant property. The different extract of fruits was obtained by successive extraction with petroleum ether, chloroform and ethanol by soxlet method. These extracts were taken for an in- vitro antioxidant study, was carried out by using various in vitro antioxidant screening models like DPPH radical scavenging activity, total phenolic content was determined. The successive plant extract showed good dose dependent activity by inhibiting DPPH and total phenolic content. Antioxidant activity of fruits showed a greater free radical sequestering activity. In the present study, ethanol extract showed a greater antioxidant activity was found to be 1000 µg/mL expressed as significant antioxidant activity of Hugonia mystax. This might be due to the presence of phytocompounds flavonoids, phenols, saponins, steroids, tannins and terpenoids present...

To provide a scientific basis to traditional uses of seeds of Anethum graveolens, seed extract was evaluated for its antioxidative potential. Firstly, indeed, aqueous extract of Anethum graveolens was prepared and analyzed for the phytochemical compounds contents. Furthermore, antioxidant activity was assessed using the Total Antioxidant Capacity (TAC) methods: 2.2’Azinobis (3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS. +), 2, 2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH.+), Ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) and also the Hydroxyl Radical Scavenging Activity (HRSA) assays. The total phenolic, catechins and tannins contents of this extract were also assessed. Finally, the protection effect on DNA damage was evaluated. Results obtained by all of the radical scavenging activity methods used showed higher antioxidant activity. Also, the results indicate that the extracts of A. graveolens showed stronger hydroxyl radical scavenging activity with an inhibition percentage of 43.56 %. However, results obtained showed that the extract was not providing a protective effect upon DNA fragmentation by the method...

A gradient reverse phase Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatographic (RP-UPLC) method was developed and validated for determination of Micafungin sodium and its synthetic impurities. The successful separation of Micafungin sodium and its synthetic impurities was achieved using Phenomenax Aeris peptide XB C18 (150×2.1 mm i.d., 1.7 µ particle size) column maintained at 45 °C temperature with mobile phase consisting 0.01 M phosphate buffer pH 2.9 and acetonitrile in a gradient programme. The mobile phase flow rate was 0.3 ml/min and the detection wavelength was 279 nm. The retention time in developed method is comparatively less than the reported HPLC methods for determination of Micafungin sodium offering less time consuming and fast analytical method. The developed RP-UPLC method was validated according to ICH guidelines with respect to linearity, accuracy, precision, specificity and robustness and also the LOD and LOQ values were...
