Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the second most deadly infectious disease which causes for morbidity as well as mortality. This communicable infectious disease is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It can produce silent, latent infection as well as progressive, active disease. Globally, 2 billion people are infected and roughly 2 million people die from tuberculosis each year. Despite for all the medical advancement, its resurgence among the developed world is a matter to be considered. Till date only BCG (Bacillus Calmette Guerian) vaccine is available which is ineffective against adult pulmonary TB, which is the common form of disease. The emergence of Multi Drug Resistant TB (MDR TB) and Extensively Dug Resistant TB (XDR TB) due to the misuse of anti-tubercular drugs is also a major concern. The traditional drug therapy involve long term and multiple drug dosing which leads to poor compliance among patients associated with severe side effects. Nanoparticle based treatment shows convincing and promising outcomes in the treatment of tuberculosis. This review discusses about nanoparticle technology which...

Traditional medicines, derived from medicinal plants, are used by about 60% of the world’s population. Plants of the genus Terminalia which consist of about 200-250 species are widely used as traditional medicine. The aim of this study was that review morphologic and toxonomic characteristics, pharmacological effects, traditional usage and products that derived of Terminalia in reports that published up to 2017. To conduct this review, the most up-to-date electronic journals including those indexed in the Pubmed, Elsevier, Institute for Scientific Information, Google Scholar and Scientific Information Database, databases and various books, has been used. Terminalia species have therapeutic effects such as cardiac stimulant effect that was compared with that of digoxin. Terminalia species possess several active phytochemicals with antioxidant activities. β-sitosterol is one of phytosterol compounds that has a therapeutic effect on inflammation by effect on prostacyclin I2 (PGI2) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). Other active phytochemical are tannins that have shown that tannins have strong anti-bacterial properties. Considering that many studies have been carried out on Terminalia plants in...

The efficiency of drug discovery and designing process can be increased by effective strategies given by computational methods. Drug designing is an intense, time consuming and an interdisciplinary venture. Traditionally, drugs were discovered by synthesizing compounds in a long-drawn-out and multi-step process. Recent studies have shown an increase in day by day demand of novel and more efficient drugs. Due to availability of low-cost computer power, the use of such computers has become a leading topic in medicinal chemistry. In search of potent drugs computational techniques like docking, homology modelling, pharmaco-phore modelling, are employed by researchers around the globe in order to achieve the goal. The main purpose of this document is to give a summary of drug design process and specifically the role of computational modelling techniques. These involve some techniques from binding sites prediction to high throughput screening of large compound...

Liver disease is the tenth most common cause of death in India as per the World Health Organization and may affect every one in Five Indians. In spite of consistent human effort and drug discovery, modern drug has very little to offer. Nonetheless, Ayurved classical proprietary and patented formulations have shown promising results. The present study provides a general review of the Ayurved products along with pharmacological actions of herbal medicines. Arogyavardhini vati, Liv 52 are the highest prescribing medicines in liver disorders. Curcuma longa, Phyllanthus niruri, Tephrosia purpurea, Picrorrhiza kurroa, Swertia chirayata are the commonest single herb used by the herbalist and Ayurved physician in the treatment of various liver disorders. An attempt has been made to compile classical, proprietary and patented Ayurved products. This may be useful to the clinicians, professionals, scientists and scholars working in the field of Ayurved for new product...
