Introduction: Pathogenic infections place a significant burden on the healthcare system since they are linked to high rates of morbidity and mortality. Successful therapy of these illnesses depends on an early diagnosis and a good antimicrobial resistance testing. Therefore, the goal of the current investigation was to assess aerobic bacteriological profile and antibiogram from a variety of sterile fluids. Material and Method: This observational study was carried out in the Department of Microbiology, Adesh Institute of Medical Science & Research Bathinda, Punjab from 20 September 2023 to 15 February 2024 obtaining the approval from Ethics Committee of Biomedical & Health Research, Adesh University. All the Body fluid samples were received in Bacteriology Laboratory from various departments. All body fluid samples are processed by Bact alert system. Positive samples were further subculture on blood agar and MacConkey agar. Gram Staining was done to identify gram-positive bacteria and gram-negative Bactria, further antimicrobial susceptibility was done by Vitek 2 compact system as per CLSI guidelines 2023. Results: A total of 288 body...

Introduction: Flap surgeries can be followed by some complications due to the infection of the operating site. Sutures at the operating site can predispose to surgical site infections by harbouring the microorganisms due to their wicking action. Triclosan-coated antibacterial sutures can be used an effective substitute to traditional sutures due to its ability to reduce biofilm. Aim: This trial evaluates clinically and microbiologically the effectiveness of antibacterial coated sutures compared to non-coated ones. Materials and Methods: 20 sites in 10 systemically well patients were diagnosed with Stage III Periodontitis [2017 AAP Classification] and was allotted into group A and group B randomly in a split-mouth design for the research. Flap surgery was performed, and in Group A, triclosan-coated polyglycolic acid braided sutures were placed and in Group B non-coated polyglycolic acid braided sutures were placed. In both the groups, Visible Plaque Index (VPI) and total microbial colony count on the suture were assessed on the suture removal day. Healing Index (HI) was assessed on the 8th day and day...

The Box jelly fish Chiropsoides buitendijki (Horst R, 1907) were collected during low tides from Edwan village, of West Coast of Mumbai. Identification was done at the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), Mumbai. Crude extract of Chiropsoides buitendijki (Horst R, 1907) was obtained following the 80% methanol and 1%acetic acid, absolute methanol and n-butanol (1:1), and n-butanol. The antibacterial activity was carried out on bacteria E. coli, K. pneumonia, S. aureus, S. flexneri, V. Cholerae, C. sporogenes, S. enterica, E. faecalis, and fungal strain Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger whereas the antimycobacterial study was carried out on Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) strain, H37 Rv: ATCC No- 27294. From the above study it is confirms that, the crude extract of Chiropsoides buitendijki have antibacterial and anti- tuberculosis...

Antimicrobial proteins and peptides are also known as Host defense system. Recently, research in the food industry and therapeutic fields has seen a considerable expansion in the use of antimicrobial proteins. It has a wide spectrum of antibacterial and immunomodulatory properties against infectious bacteria, viruses, fungus, etc., obtained from microbes, plants, animals, and even humans. Antimicrobial peptides can potentially improve the specificity and efficacy of antibiotics by being a promising alternative because microorganisms can’t metabolize them. Regulation, post-transduction modification, ribosome synthesis, etc. are the essential components of the AMP (Antimicrobial protein and peptide) biosynthesis process. Today, AMPs can be developed synthetically based on their activity, source, structure, and species of amino acids. They have the unique ability to rupture the cell wall, which results in cell death. As a novel approach, scientists have determined a few strategies to administer AMPs by formulating with chitosan nanoparticles, gold and silver nanoparticles, and peptide-assembly by producing microgels, mesoporous materials, and other substances that can be applied in the fields of skin disease,...

This study investigates the presence of bioactive compounds present in the tubers of Curcuma zedoaria using GC-MS analysis. Different compounds, including alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, and proteins, were identified using the preliminary phytochemical screening for aqueous, ethanol and methanol extracts. The present study reports the antimicrobial activity analysis using aqueous, ethanol and methanol extracts. The results show that the ethanol and methanol extracts showed relatively enhanced results. The extracts were subjected to GC-MS analysis, and antibacterial properties for the extracts were analyzed. Bioactive compounds such as 1,2 cyclopentanedione, 2(5H)-furanone, hexadecanoic acid, succinic acid, oleic acid, pyrrolidine etc., were identified through GC-MS. These compounds exhibited various therapeutic functions such as anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial activity. The antibacterial assay showed a considerable zone of inhibition for the ethanolic extracts in the case of K. pneumonia and B. subtilis. Hence, these crude extracts can be used as a better and alternative source, which can be used in herbal medicines. The study concluded that C. zedoaria tuber contains various bioactive compounds. Therefore, this tuber...
