Background: Urinary tract infection is a common medical problem for women throughout their lifetime. Recurrence after urinary tract infection (rUTI) is common in adult women. The majority of recurrences are believed to be reinfection from extra urinary sources such as rectum or vagina. The treatment of recurrent urinary tract infection also inflicts an economic burden on the patient’s life. Hence, we must use an effective antibiotic that prevents the recurrence of UTI and improve the functional capacity and quality of life in women. This study aims to study the effectiveness of different antibiotics in increasing the functional capacity and reducing the economic burden in UTI women. Methodology: This is a prospective, observational study, conducted in a total of 50 patients at General Medicine Department of a tertiary care hospital in Coimbatore for a period of six months. Chloramphenicol was introduced as the effective antibiotic in the treatment of typhoid fever. Resistance started to develop within two years of its introduction. The emergence of antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria is closely linked to the irrational use of antibiotics. The sensitivity/resistance pattern of Salmonella spp. had been varying with time and geographical locations. Changing trends in antibiotic resistance patterns especially of chloramphenicol have been recorded in different parts of India. So the study was done to evaluate the minimum inhibitory concentration of chloramphenicol. Two hundred clinically suspected cases of enteric fever were included in the studies during the period of one year and nine months. Positive blood culture for Salmonella spp. was 8%. Isolates of Salmonella Typhi were 100% sensitive to cotrimoxazole, chloramphenicol, and cefotaxime. 12 (75%) were sensitive to ampicillin, 7 (43.7%) to azithromycin, 14 (87.50%) to ceftriaxone and 10 (62.5%) were sensitive to cefixime. The present paper describes a new, simple, accurate, environmentally friendly, economic spectrophotometric method for simultaneous estimation of Diclofenac salt and Eperisone HCl in bulk and Capsule Dosage Form. Acetate buffer pH5.5 was used as solvent. The wavelength selected for analysis is 276nm & 261.20nm for estimation of Diclofenac Salt and Eperisone HCl respectively. Beers law was obeyed in the range of 10-50µg/ml and 5-25µg/ml with correlation coefficient of0.999 and 0.998 respectively. Detection limit and quantification limit were found to be 0.6031g/ml and 1.87g/ml for Diclofenac sodium and 0.208g/ml and 0.6302g/ml for Eperisone hydrochloride respectively. The developed method was found to be simple, accurate, precise and reproducible. Assay results were found to be 99.20% and 101.13% for Eperisone hydrochloride and Diclofenac sodium respectively. The value of relative standard deviation and percentage recovery was found to be satisfactory. Docking and site directed mutagenesis approach was used to explore mode of binding and inhibition for human acetylcholinesterase (hAChE) and organophosphates (OPs). More than 200 OP molecules were investigated using Glide docking module of Schrodinger suit as co-crystal structure between two are not available in Protein Data Bank. In initial screening Trp86 was found to be involved in maximum Pi-Cation interaction on anionic subsite of hAChE other than Ser203 (Catalytic site). With extra precision glide docking Phoxim Ethyl Phosphonate (PEP) tops among 200 OPs based on glide docking score and interacted with Trp86, Gly121 and Ser203 whereas MM-GBSA score shows less binding affinity than heptenophos and dichlorovos. Trp86 preferred Pi interaction with ring bearing OPs and hydrophobic interactions with smaller OPs without ring bearing structures. Present study was conducted to know the antifertility potential of Achyranthus aspera leaves in female mice and has shown promising results of antiovulatory activity, estrogenic and constant teratogenic activities. Administrations of A. aspera leaves methanolic extract at the dosage 25 mg/kg and 50 mg/kg body weight were subjected for testing their antiovulatory, estrogenic and teratogenic activity in female mice by applying statistical analysis in gravimetric, biochemical and histopathological parameters of ovary and uterus. At autopsy on day 31st, both the dose treated mice revealed increase in ovarian weight, histological changes like increasing number of atretic follicle and decreases in healthy developing follicles, Graafian follicles and corpora lutea. Total cholesterol content and alkaline phosphatase of the ovary were increased and protein, glycogen, acid phosphatase content were decreased. Teratogenic activity did not alter any changes in the morphological and physiological behavior of experimental period.
