Six generic ciprofloxacin HCl 250 mg tablets from different manufacturer have been evaluated to assess their bioequivalence using in vitro tests. Other general quality assessments of these tablets like assay, weight variation, hardness, friability, disintegration time were also determined and all these generic tablets passed compendial specifications. There were no significant differences (p < 0.05) in the percentage dissolution of drug from generic tablets at 15 minutes with the same from innovator brand tablet at the same time point. To compare the dissolution profiles of all the tablet formulations and the innovator brand, a model independent approach of difference factor (f1) and similarity factor (f2) was employed with all time points included in the in vitro dissolution studies. These results indicated that all generic ciprofloxacin HCl tablets included in this investigation were bioequivalent with the chosen innovator brand and so may be used interchangeably....

The retrospective study on prescribing patterns of antihypertensives showed that the prevalence of hypertension was predominantly more with male patients than in female patients. It was also found that the average age of the overall study population was 56 years. The average age of the population clearly indicates the elderly patients were affected more. The results indicates that around 57.6% of the patients were brought to normal or prehypertension after the successful treatment with antihypertensive agents. The remaining 42.4% were brought to high normal after the treatment. The study revealed that the physician were treated 44.73% of the patients population with Ramipril alone as mono therapy, 21.05% were treated with Atenolol, 10.52 % were treated with Amlodipine, and other patients are treated with Amiodarone, Prazonin HCL, and Telmisarten etc. The most commonly prescribed combination was found to be Ramipril with Atenolol and it is followed by Ramipril with Amlodipine. The non-proliferative activity of isolated saponins, gymnemagenol (C30H50O4) from Gymnema sylvestre and dasyscyphin C (C28H40O8) from Eclipta prostrata leaves were tested under on HepG2 cells under in vitro conditions. Both gymnemagenol and dasyscyphin C exhibited non-proliferative activity on HepG2 cells at 24 h with the IC50 value of 18.5 and 23.5μg/ml respectively. 5-Fluorouracil (5FU) a positive control showed the IC50 value of 1.34μg/ml. The isolated saponins were not toxic to Vero cells.
