The objective of the present study was to investigate anti-diabetic and nephroprotective and cardioprotective activity of Xylia dolabriformis leaves extract, using High Fructoseinduced diabetic C57BL/6Job/ob mice as model for clinical type-2 diabetic. At a regular interval of an experimental protocol blood glucose, urinary creatinine, total proteins, insulin resistance, total β-cell count, LDL, HDL,VLDL and organs to body weight ratio were studied. The histo-pathological study was carried out by High Fructoseinduced diabetic and anti-diabetic rats pancreas. Statistical analysis of the results shown that in High Fructoseinduced diabetic rats chloroform and alcohol extracts of Xylia dolabriformis leaves at 40, 80, 160 and 200 mg/kg doses. Xylia dolabriformis leaves extract improved renal creatinine clearance, decreased the LDL, VLDL, increased the HDL and reduce renal total protein loss demonstrating nephroprotective and cardioprotective properties. The organ to body weight ratio studies carried out on last day, shown pancreas and liver specific effects of Xylia dolabriformis leaves. These results were also supported by histo-pathological studies. We conclude from the present study that Xylia dolabriformis alcoholic...

The present study has investigated the hypoglycaemic effect of oral administration of 50% ethanolic leaf extract of G. hirsutum Wight & Arn in normal and Streptozotocin–induced diabetic rats. Albino Wistar rats (190 to 220 gm) were induced diabetic condition by administration of Streptozotocin (STZ) (55 mg/kg bw) intraperitoneally. 50% ethanolic extract of G. hirsutum Wight & Arn leaves (300 mg/kg bw /day) was orally administrated to normal and STZ–induced diabetic rats (150, 300 and 450 mg/kg bw /day) for 30 days to determine hypoglycaemic and antihyperglycaemic activity. Serum and tissue biochemical analysis including fasting blood sugar level in normal and STZ–induced diabetic rats were investigated. Oral administration of 50% ethanolic extract of G. hirsutum Wight & Arn leaves (300 and 450 mg/kg bw/day) for 30 days exhibited a significant (p<0.05) reduction in serum Glucose (88%), Total Cholesterol (80%), Triglycerides (76%), HbA1c (75%) and in an oxidative stress. The findings of investigation showed similar to those produced by Glibenclamide (GB) at dose of 600 mg/kg bw /day for 30days (positive...

In the present studies, antibacterial studies and medicinal effects of the ethanolic extract of Adhatoda vasica on the physiological variations including blood countvariations w.r.t. RBC, WBC, Hb and enzyme SOD activity of the subjects under study, Swiss Albino mice, on exposure to gamma radiations, have been evaluated. Phyto-chemical analysis of A. vasica showed the presence of alkaloids, saponins, tannins and reducing sugars. It was observed that RBC, WBC and Hb count of the control group mice increased with the administration of extract where as these parameters decrease on exposure to gamma radiations. However, in case of group of mice administered with the dose of the extract and exposed to gamma radiations, the decrease is much less as that observed in the mice exposed to only radiations. In case of enzymatic SOD activity, it was observed that the animals with extract dose showed lower value of SOD specific activity while the animals with extract dose and γ radiations also showed lower SOD specific activity as compared to the animals exposed...

Standardization of herbal formulation is essential in order to assess the quality of drugs for therapeutic value. The present work is an attempt to standardize ‘Bhunimbadi Churna’, an Ayurvedic polyherbal formulation, used in fever and diabetics etc. The various parameters performed included organoleptic characteristics, physico-chemical parameter, physical characteristics of Churna, preliminary phytochemical, Heavy metal and Microbial analysis and high performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) analysis. The results obtained may be considered as tools for assistance to the regulatory authorities, scientific organizations and manufacturers for developing standard formulation of great...

Aim: The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of Peptostreptococcus on type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with secondary root canal infections by evaluating the prevalence of this bacterial species using culture and PCR technique and to correlate their association with specific endodontic signs and symptoms in Indian population. Materials and method: 88 subjects scheduled for root canal retreatment were divided into two groups comprising of 44 subjects with history of type 2 diabetes mellitus (group1) and 44 non-diabetic subjects as control (group 2). Root canal samples were collected as per Moller’s criteria using sterile paper points. The prevalence of Peptostreptococcus in secondary root canal infections was analysed using advanced culture technique and species-specific PCR technique. Statistical analysis was done using Student unpaired T test and Pearson’s Chi-Square test. RESULTS: In group1, Peptostreptococcus was detected in 52.2% and 54.5%, in contrast group2 was associated with 27.3% and 31.8% of Peptostreptococcus using culture and PCR respectively, with statistically significant association of Peptostreptococcus with type 2 diabetes mellitus (p=0.014)....
