Cancer is a substantial world health threat, & a largest cause of death in peoples of various age groups and economic backgrounds. This dramatic increase in the global burden of cancer has spurred research and many pharmacological studies as an attempt to limit the progression of this disease. Painful, expensive chemotherapy by dietary supplements have come forth as a novel significant approach in ailment of cancer. Since ancient times mushrooms has been used a good resource of dietary supplement. Mushroom is attributed by many medicinal properties, due to presence of phytochemicals, antioxidant, anticancer, antiviral, antimicrobial, anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory etc. bioactive compounds in fruiting bodies and cultured mycelium. Polysaccharides and antioxidant have been extensively studied biologically active compounds of mushroom for their cytotoxic as well as immunomodulation properties. In this review we will highlight the recent findings on anticancereous bioactive compounds of mushroom, their therapeutic potentials and mode of action and the need for further investigation in cancer...

Since ancient times, herbal drugs are used in traditional system of medicine such as Siddha, Ayurvedaand Unani. The allopathic system of medicine adopted many medicinal plants to derive newer molecules for challenging diseases. The plant Indigofera aspalathoides which is well known as ‘Sivanar vembu’ is widely used for skin diseases. Phytochemical and Pharmacological researchers have screened it for its anti-cancerous and antioxidant property. This review focuses all updated information about its authentication, phytochemistry and pharmacology. The phytochemical evaluation of the plant showed phenolic compounds, tannin, alkaloides, triterpenes, flavones, saponin and steroids. This drug is widely screened for its anti-cancerous and anti-oxidant activity. Anti-microbial, hypoglycemic, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory and antiviral activity were also reported. A thailam (oil prepared by traditional extraction procedure) prepared from this plant is widely used by the Siddha practioners for various ailments. This review focuses the lot of medicinal properties of the plant through the scientific validation and strongly supports the traditional...

Here, we review the development of prospective image processing systems in molecular diagnostics and of pharmacologically active ingredients for patient-specific therapeutic approaches. These projects require not only high demands on quality, safety, and specificity but also, rapid, efficient and irreversible ligation routes during the synthesis of future pharmaceuticals. The Diels-Alder ligation reaction with inverse electron demand (DARinv) is an eligible technology not restricted to medical applications, but valuable in selective modification by functionalization of polymers, organic and inorganic surfaces and micro arrays. Additionally, the DARinv technology is considered as an attractive strategy-platform for efficient syntheses of promising pharmacologically active components and derivatives of natural molecules with an optimized therapeutic index. We like to encourage scientists working with the brilliant concept of Sharpless’s “Click chemistry”, to intensify their research with this valuable DARinv technology able to open the door for regioselective, stereospecific, and bioorthogonal exigent syntheses of substances of highest quality inconceivable so...

Emesis is a clinical condition which requires immediate treatment. The present work is aimed to formulate Orodispersible Tablet (ODT) of BCS class II drug Domperidone using Kyron T-314 as superdisintegrant and Avicel 102 as disintegrant by direct compression method. The drug-excipients compatibility study was carried out by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) which reveals no interaction between drug and excipients. A 32 factorial design was used to investigate effect of independent variables viz. superdisintegrant (Kyron T-314) and disintegrant (Avicel 102) on dependent responses like friability, disintegration time and percent drug release. Sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) was used in the formulation to aid the dissolution of drug. All the formulations were evaluated for hardness, friability, disintegration time and dissolution rate. The factorial batch F4 containing 1.5 mg Kyron T-314 and 5 mg Avicel 102 has shown better results for all evaluation parameters with drug release of 99.22% and disintegration time of 29 sec. Therefore, factorial batch F4 was selected as the optimized...

Kamrup District of Asasm is bounded by Udalguri and Baksa districts in the north, Meghalaya in the south, Darrang and Kamrup Metropolitan in the east and Goalpara and Nalbari district in the west. The rural part of kamrup district is mostly inhabitated by different tribes such as Boro, Khoronia Kochari, Rajbonghi, and Nepalis. An ethno botanical survey was conducted during the year 2011-2012 in some selected villages to explore the medicinal plants used by the local traditional healers known as ‘bej’ and ‘Ohjha’ for treatment of diabetes mellitus. The data’s were collected using questionnaire and personal interviews with few local healers. The investigation revealed 56 species of plants belonging to 38 families which are used to cure diabetes. These traditional ethno medicinal plants are consumed either in form of juice, powder, or boiled extract of leave, stem, root, seed, fruit, bark, rhizome and flower. In some cases it was found that the whole plant is directly used as potent...
