The present paper deals with preliminary phyto-chemical screening of Terminalia species (Combretaceae), used by the local tribal communities for different human and veterinary ailments. The personal interviews conducted with local herbal practitioners and review of literature yielded 5 species of Terminalia as an effective remedy for diabetes, dysentery, diarrhoea, asthma, rheumatic pains etc. The fruits of Terminalia species used for maximum number of human and veterinary ailments than leaf and stem bark. Ethyl acetate, methanol and water extracts of fruits was conducted for preliminary phytochemical screening which were used as drug for different ailments and composition of various groups of constituents was...

The present study reports analgesic potential of hydrogels of silver nanoparticles using Saraca indica bark extract makes a fast and convenient method for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles with the aid of microwave. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized using UV-visible (UV-vis) spectrophotometer, Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infra-red (FTIR) spectrometry. The nanoparticles were found to be spherical in shape and of 5 to 50 nm in size. The hydrogels of synthesized silver nanoparticles exhibited good analgesic activity. Testing was performed on the portion of the tail treated with hydrogels (control, aqueous extract of Saraca indica bark & silver nanoparticle using Saraca indica bark extract) and they were assessed using a fixed quantity of each drug. The tails were subjected to radiant heat two minutes after topical application since the analgesic actions of agents administered in this manner are restricted to the exposed part of the tail. Analgesic activity was checked by digital analgesiometer. Significant analgesic activity was observed with silver nanoparticles using Saraca indica...

The concept of Health-related quality of life takes into account about patient well-being as expressed by both physical and psychological domains of health. The relevance of this concept in end stage renal disease patients has been well established and can be used for routine treatment of patients with renal failure. It is of deemed interest to compare health and wellness of end stage renal disease adult patients undergoing Haemodialysis and Continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis in selected hospitals of Malaysia and to study the relationship between disease symptoms experienced by patients with their quality of life. The study was conducted in two government hospitals of Malaysia. The study involved 220 renal impairment patients and their recruitment is based on standard inclusion criteria. Medical outcome study 36-item short form was used to evaluate Health-related quality of life. The symptoms were tested as per the standard revised illness perception questionnaire. Statistical analysis of the completed study shows that there are significant differences in quality of life among patients with variable age groups...

This research evaluates patient satisfaction with the core and secondary attributes of hospital healthcare service, using two conventional methods, stated and derived importance explaining pros and cons related to each method. The study shows the significance of some of the core attributes and secondary attributes are recoverable equally well, regardless of the method. On the other hand, satisfaction obtained through some attributes diverges depending on the evaluation method. This variation is systematic and the reason for the variation is explained which provides the basis to researchers to employ both stated and derived methods for assessing the genuine measurement of satisfaction. Further article identifies the influence of demographics on satisfaction derived through core and secondary attributes and the relation between demographics and the type of hospital visited (i.e. govt. or private). Again the gap analysis and the correlation between satisfaction and recommendation provides better picture of opportunities or gaps live in hospital healthcare services and the directions to combat these gaps or exploit opportunities...

The present investigation was to prepare and evaluate bioadhesive vaginal gel containing clotrimazole loaded microspheres a novel delivery system for vaginal use. Bioadhesive gel was prepared by incorporating drug loaded microspheres using bioadhesive polymer carbopol 934. Microspheres were prepared by spray drying technique using Eudragit RS-100 and RL-100 polymers with different drug/polymer ratios. Microspheres were characterized by SEM, DSC, FT-IR and particle size analysis and evaluated for morphology, drug loading and in vitro drug release in simulated vaginal fluid. The FT-IR and DSC spectra revealed that there was no chemical interaction between drug and polymers used. SEM revealed that microspheres were spherical with a smooth surface morphology indicating that CTZ was well dispersed inside the carrier with a mean particle size ranging from 17 -58 μm. The in vitro drug release from formulation M1 to M6 was found to be 83.10% to 98.88% at the end of 12th h. Among various formulations M4 was found to have good control release pattern as it has shown 99% drug release in...
