Pterocarpus santalinoides, family- Fabaceae was claimed to have analgesic properties. The people of Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria used it in the management of aches and pains. This study is therefore aimed at determining this claim of the activities of Pterocarpus santalinoides using the leaves which will serve as a criterion to recommend the ethno pharmacological use of the plant. The leaves of Pterocarpus santalinoides family Fabaceae were dried, powdered and extracted by cold maceration with methanol for 48hrs, it was concentrated using rotary evaporator. The analgesic activity was investigated in rats using hot plate method at a temperature of 40oC. Phytochemical evaluation revealed the presence of tannins, flavonoids, terpenoids, steroids, alkaloids, glycosides, saponins and resins. Pterocarpus santalinoides extract (300 mg/kg) induced analgesia in rats (p< 0.05) and this effect was comparable to that of Aspirin (100 mg/kg). To investigate the antioxidant property and secondary metabolites of Abutilon indicum Plant at various Habitats were compared with those of relevant callus cultures induced from every explant in in-vitro. The callus cultures were effectively initiated on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 2, 4-D (1 mg/L) pooled with different concentrations (0.1–1.0 mg/L) of kinetin as plant growth regulators. The circulation of Flavonoids and phenolic compounds in the plant extracts were analyzed by using Aluminium (III) Chloride Colorimetric assay with standards. Flavonoids were found in all callus extracts in comparison with in their natural habitat plant parts at various Habitats. In this study, the antioxidant activities of the extracts were evaluated in vitro antioxidant-testing systems. The secondary metabolites of flavonoid and phenolic acid contents of Abutilon indicum were studied at dissimilar habitats and in-vitro callus culture extract. Parkinsonia acculeata is used in traditional medicine for the treatment of jaundice and diabetes. Accordingly, the present study was designed to investigate the effects of Pet ether and aqueous extracts of the leaves of Parkinsonia acculeata on glucose homeostasis in alloxan induced diabetis in rabbits. After 7 days of study it showed that Parkinsonia acculeata reduced glucose levels significantly. The prophylactic efficacy of garlic (Allium sativum Linn.) (Alliaceae) extract was studied on changes in WBC differential count pattern in male albino rats. The rats were divided into four groups A, B, C and D, keeping group A as a healthy control. The garlic extract was tried in three different doses, 1ml, 2ml and 4ml/ kg body weight as low, medium and high dose respectively and given orally for the period of 7, 14, 21 or 28 days daily to the rats of group B, C and D as stated above. The results clearly indicate that a significant increase (P<0.01) in lymphocyte and eosinophil percent and a significant decrease (P<0.01) in neutrophil and monocyte percent at low and medium dose but at higher dose their percentage increases within the normal values. Direct compression is the preferred method for the preparation of tablets. Co-processing is the one of the most widely explored and commercially utilized method for the preparation of directly compressible vehicles. The objective of the present study is to prepare and characterize pregelatinized starch-poly vinyl pyrrolidone (PGS-PVP) co-processed excipient and to evaluate its application as directly compressible vehicle in tablet formulations. PGS-PVP co-processed excipient was prepared by gelatinizing potato starch in the presence of PVP and drying the resulting mass.
